The Jug

Out for a drive today and pulled in here for a quick lunch. Was not disappointed. Sat down and was brought a menu, the young lady brought me a menu extremely quick, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and a caramel shake. I hardly had time to check in and my drink was out then my food was just about as quick. The place is just an older building with a good sized parking lot. Plastic tables as well. Food was super yummy and the staff was amazing. Thank you for a great Sunday lunch. Worth stopping in if in the area.

Love this place been a family classic since my grandma and grandpa were kids. The food has always been kinda bland but in an instance like this it isn't about flavor it's about roots not many places can duplicate that. Root beer omg it's good tho

I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Middletown area. It has been in Middletown for more than 60 years and a great experience for someone looking for nostalgia or something different during the summer months. Many, many customers love the food here, so you may, too. Unfortunately, I am not one of these people. The hamburger buns are WAY too fluffy!

Service here is hit or miss. The food is good for the most part. I usually walk there and take my dog. He gets a pup treat and that's cool!

Menu of burgers, hot dogs, fries, and drinks that's it. They are celebrating 89 years so you know KISS is working for them. Double cheese burger is the most popular, I made mine deluxe. I really like that the onions are diced. I also got the waffle fries, which I would bet a milkshake, were house cut. Waffle fries and burger were individually packaged and delivered in a brown paper bag, old school OG style. There were super CRISP potato pieces at the bottom of the wax bag. Next time I go here, I'm going to request more of them, maybe as a menu addition, waffle crunchers.They come to your car to take the order and pay, then delivered to you faster then most modern fast food place.The gentleman that took my order actually called me by name....shocking, like I was a friend and not just a customer! I'm sure if I start going there more often he will know my order by heart.Fabulous place, might even have to try the "middie burger" next time.

Awesome chili dog and western burger!! The onion rings are the funky monkey! Just the right amount of onions on the dog!

Disgusting waited 45 minutes burger was burnt gave to my dogs they didn't even finish it.

We love the food here. Their website shows their specials and one of those specials is a bag of 5 burgers for $12. I was told they are no longer doing this. When I pointed out that it is still currently posted, I was told they are deciding what to put on the website. Then I was told that people have faked their website and it shows they are in New Zealand. I showed her the website and she still said they are not offering that anymore that it was a fake site. Terrible customer service IMO. This is their actual website and they are not honoring what they have posted.

Not a bad place but it has changed since Covid or maybe the new owners.The nostalgia of going there changed, no frozen mugs for root beer and everything's in good bags. I still will recommend it, simply isn't what it used to be..

Our first trip to The Jug was a winner! They are celebrating 90 Years of Great Food and Fun. The husband ordered the 1/2 pound cheeseburger. He said it was very juicy and one of the best smashburger- style sandwiches he's ever had. He did add some extra ketchup since they gave us so many ketchup packets. I had a Double Cheeseburger Deluxe. The tomato tasted like it was garden fresh, worth the deluxe upcharge. I don't usually care for "double" burgers, but smashburgers are the exception to that rule for me. Usually, I omit the cheese, but I tried it here and it added a little sumpthin sumpthin. I couldn't decide between crinkle fries and onion rings,. I finally opted for the rings, since the husband didn't order a side with his huge burger and crinkles aren't his fave. Let me tell you it was a good way to go. They were very hot and crispy, with an excellent crunch. You could taste the thick onion, not just the coating, which is the point of rings for me. We wanted to get a burger for the dog and after much discussion, we ended up ordering the a kids meal. That way, I could try the crinkle cut fries and taste their root beer. The fries had deep ridges - yum - and enough saltiness even for me. The dog liked them, too. Let me tell you now - don't order any soft drink but the root beer. It was creamy and delicious, just the way root beer should taste. The only thing that would improve on it is if it was served in a frosted glass. Damn, I wish more places still did that, it's a treat. We shared a chocolate milkshake. It was so thick it would hardly climb up the straw. The husband used the spoon and skimmed off all of the whipped cream as per our marital agreement. I don't care for it that much, so he is the designated whipped cream skimmer in this relationship. The shake was very tick, very cold, and very refreshing. The Shake retained its thickness and did not get soupy before we could drink it. The chocolate flavor was perfect. Yummy!Overall, our meal was very satisfying. There were no duds at all. Good thing it takes way over an hour to get to The Jug, because our diets would be foiled, but we will return!
