The food is delicious here, loved the yam swallow with the beef stew. It was delicious and beef was very tender. We also got the jollof with jerk chicken. Still delicious though a little dry! I enjoyed the seasoning though. We did carry out and while the restaurant is spacious it's a bit dark and all the seating is benches with a small low table. I'll definitely be back to try other things on their menu!

2 stars.Disappointing. Overpriced. Slow.We had the jollof chicken which was a generous portion of rice, two chicken legs, and maybe six tiny pieces of plaintain. Tiny... as in, three banana slices, sliced in half! One piece of chicken was juicy and delicious. The other was dry and didn't seem fresh. Which boggled my mind because I arrived shortly after they opened and waited 30+ minutes for my food. The stew on top of the chicken was very flavorful, but sparse. Service was mid. No gold star here. The profit margin must be high because the meal I was given was at most $3 including the spices, but probably closer to $2 since they are buying wholesale. And I'm being generous here. Selling $3 plates for $17 is genius. I applaud the hustle, but quality should be consistently high and it's not. The location is beautiful and looks to be a great late night destination. Probably a decent spot to grab a drink and listen to music with friends, for sure!

Saw this spot after our original dinner plans fell through. Definitely a "hole in a wall" and can be easily missed. My daughter and I were greeted quickly. There's one guy tonight who served the role of waiter, host, and bussed the tables. It was loud, not so much from patrons but from the Afrobeats playing on the stereo. I grew up on Ghanian food, but haven't eaten any in over 15 years so this was a treat. I ordered fufu ( considered morsel food) and okra stew with fish. My daughter went easy with jollof rice and chicken with a side of fried plantain. As a note we ate with our hands!!! ( They do offer utensils for those not comfortable with using fingers). Warm water was provided to clean your hands. The okra stew was AMAZING. I LOVED the level of spicy.... enough to wake my nose up but not too much that it lost it's flavor or I had to clean my nose ( I love spicy...so for tame pallets, this may be too spicy). Fufu is pounded yam that has the 'look' of dough but flavor of firm mash potatoes ( kinda). You tear a piece off and scoop okra stew on it and eat it that way. The jollof rice was just ok..kinda dry, no vegetables. The chicken was a bit cold and very dry though the stew it came with was flavorful. I like my plantains fried soft and sweet. These were fried hard and was dry. Overall it was a ok food experience.

If I could, I would rate this establishment a zero. Visiting from Houston and wanted to patronize a black business and a African business. Support our community, however the young lady who took our order looked at us and treated us as though we were bothering her. She charged us $10.00 extra for beef and Pomo. This is fine but failed to include the extra Pomo and beef. We tried toInquire and the owner said horrible things about us in pigeon not even realizing my husband is Nigerian and understands. He confronted her and she spoke very rudely to him and was disrespectful. If you have another choice go somewhere else. We spent $70.00 but never ever again. Do not patronize this location. They will not appreciate your business and will try to rip you off. Disgusting experience.

Ordered takeout on Doordash. I ordered a side of Jollof and some wings. For a place called The Jollof Buka, I expected more from the jollof rice. I added a bit of salt for taste and that's never a good sign for African food. My wings were quite dry as well. Would like to try some of the other items on the menu but the jollof wasn't it for me unfortunately.

I waited an hour for my food, and they didnt have vegetables for my noodles but it had been half an hour already so I said i didnt mind so I could get going, but this is about 1 packet's worth of ramen without the seasoning.... gave me plantanes but it took an hour to not really get my order. Hopefully the pic loaded but i dont even know how to eat this, its like the spine almost just bone. Probably won't come back again it was 30 dollars and an hour for myself. I asked for spicy rice, she warned me it would be bad, but i said i wanted it. I can hardly taste it man :/

I ordered the egusi with beef today and i will say, this was not it.. it was bitter and the meat was way too tough. i normally don't make complaints on yelp but what made me do this is the PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT WAS IN MY EGUSI . as first i thought out was from the wrapping of the fufu but it was a different texture of plastic and was too deep in the bowl to be from that. definitely not safe ...ill just take the $20 it cost me as an L.

Yesterday was my first time ordering from the Jollof Buka. I got the EgoxEgusi soup (beef) and a ginger ale delivered to me. The ginger ale was missing and I was able to refund it, no problem. The food is what I was most interested in.I got pounded yam for swallow and it was great! The EgoxEgusi soup, however, I've been throwing up since yesterday. I noticed the soup had a bitter aftertaste as I was eating it and I chalked it up to a specific spice I didn't agree with. As I kept eating, I wondered if it was the Palm Oil that may be the problem. Then, maybe the spinach, or the egusi. Maybe they gave me lamb instead of the beef I requested, since lamb can be bitter? I couldn't pinpoint any one specific thing causing the bitterness so I continued to try to eat it. I got mostly to the end of the dish and not an hour later it was coming back up. I woke up this morning with a bubbly stomach and am still fighting it down from coming up again--even though there shouldn't be anything left! I had been wanting to try Nigerian food for the longest time but after this poor first attempt, I don't think I can stomach trying it again.

I feel the egusi should have more greens for my liking I probably should have asked before getting but I've wanted some for so long I feel it needs a little more spice and less of the red it was completely covered with what I think was tomato sauce or something but it looks way different from the Nigerian restaurant I go to back home taste completely different also but the place was nice I'll go back and try something else next time
