I'm already searching for an excuse to come back to Indianapolis so I can visit this beautiful house again! My friend and I were in Indianapolis for a mutual friend's wedding, and we decided to stay at this bed and breakfast because it wasn't much more expensive than the hotel rooms we were looking at (where we would have to share a bed), and the reviews were phenomenal. We were both completely delighted with the place, and within minutes of being welcomed into the house by Debra were ready to move in permanently!I can't say much for the other rooms as we did not see them and I am of the understanding that they are all different, but we stayed in the Garden Room and it was fantastic. There are two rooms, a living area (with a sofa bed) and the bedroom, which has an incredible spa bath with jets... a.k.a. my personal paradise. Also included in the bath area are battery operated candles for ambiance and bath salts. I definitely took advantage of the bath salts. If you are staying in the Garden Room, definitely allot some time in your schedule to take a wonderful, relaxing bath. The room was great, but the experience itself was also unique and lovely. Each day you fill out a breakfast card for the next morning, indicating what time you would like to eat breakfast and any dietary preferences members of your party might have. The next morning, if you have turned in your card, you will be served a freshly cooked breakfast according to your preferences, alongside the other items (cereal, oatmeal, fruit, etc) which are still available to you if you neglected to turn in your breakfast card. There is also a little Keurig bar stocked with K cups available for you to brew.On the second floor is a sun room with comfortable chairs you are welcome to use to hang out in if you wish. In the same room is a shelf full of DVDs available for you to borrow and watch in your room. There is also a chest with snacks available to take such as Cheez-Its, Chex Mix, and Teddy Grahams. Soda cans are also available to take back to your room. On our last evening at the Harney House, we had a movie night in the room with some of these snacks. There was also a popcorn packet available in the room, on top of the microwave and mini fridge. As I discussed with Debra, the owner, bed and breakfasts really aren't for everyone... It's a different experience entirely from staying at a hotel and, in my opinion, it's just better. But if you want your basic, sterile hotel experience, this is not it. Debra and her family run an amazing business here, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a trip to Indianapolis. We use Waze and it told us it was on the wrong side of the road so we drove around a little bit. If you use Waze, pay attention. It helped after we realized we were looking for the big green building. Then we had to find the parking lot which was also tricky. Sort of an around the block and through thing. It was like a test. But once there, we found a little brick parking lot for five cars. We went in from the cold to meet Deb. She showed us how things worked. The DVD library, the closet of snacks, the keys to our room. We had the Garden Room and the room itself was almost an apartment, it was lovely. We were surprised by the huge spa tub and the king sized bed. It was fantastically firm. There was also a tv, fridge, microwave, coffee maker with multiple teas and coffees to choose from. The "breakfast" part of the "bed and breakfast" was what worried me a little. Being unable to have dairy and not eating meat doesn't allow for a whole lot of breakfast options normally, so I wasn't expecting much. But Deb assured us that if we wrote down our allergies or preferences, that it would be fine. Oh my gosh, was she ever right! Deb's daughter (I wish I could remember the name of because she's amazing) can bake. She is allergic to pretty much everything so she understands food difficulties. And the cherry almond coffee cake she made for me is probably the best thing I've ever eaten. I have never had anything like it before. She should open a bakery. I would give it so many stars, too! If you go to Harney House, check out their house's history. They basically rebuilt the whole thing. And don't skip breakfast.

We stayed in this vintage home in historic Lockerbie Square. It is within walking distance of many of the IN places in Indy. Give it a try if you have something happening in the area.

My future husband and I stayed at The Harney House Inn at the beginning of June. We absolutely loved the experience. We went away for the weekend for our dating anniversary of six years, and during that time we got engaged! Hooray!Anyway, we stayed in the Garden Room. It was amazing! The bed was super comfy. The spa tub was great. We watched a movie or two from their selection and snacked on some of the soda and treats that were provided in the common area. The area is great in general with lots to do, and it's just a short walk away from Massachusetts Avenue, a great street with a bunch of little shops and restaurants. The only thing that was even remotely out of perfection was the size of the shower. It was a pretty cramped, but if anything, it will be a funny memory of fumbling around like a doofus. Not a complaint, just an observation. :) Also, the towels made up for it! They were super plushy and soft. Breakfast was great, too! Sausage, eggs, some kind of apple coffe cake thing (I could have eaten the entire loaf), fruit, yogurt, a Keurig with a large variety of coffees and teas, cereal, toast, etc.All-in-all we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! Thank

We really liked this place, and the very pleasant owner. The room was comfortable and clean. Very close to Mass Ave, and short walk to downtown activities. We would definitely stay again. One small complaint is dog is a little noisy, especially if you're trying to take a nap during the day.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Harney House during a weekend trip to Indianapolis and we were extremely satisfied with our experience. Deb is the owner and an outstanding host. Everything exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the Garden Room, very nice with a large spa tub and king size bed with a separate sitting room. We had chosen the Harney House because it was only 2 blocks from the Rathskeller where we had tickets to a concert. The Lockerbie neighborhood is nice with a lot of history. Parking is available in front on the street or in the back, though tight, it is free - another plus. Had a very good wireless internet connection, also included at no extra charge. And to top it all off an excellent breakfast with juice, milk, coffee, tea, muffins, cereal, fruit, eggs, sausage and Kuerig coffee with a nice assortments of K-cups. After staying at this fine Bed and Breakfast, this will be our first choice for any future overnight stays in Indy. I highly recommend.

Lovely spacious rooms and wonderful hospitality. We stayed in the Garden Room and you couldn't just call it a "room", it was three rooms -- Large bedroom with whirlpool tub and sink in the room, small bathroom with shower and a living/sitting room area with a couch, flat screen tv, small refrigerator/freezer and microwave. Refreshments and snacks available to guests, a large DVD library to choose from to watch from the room if you want to, games to play, plush towels and washcloths (yeah!). A lot of special touches. Breakfast was self serve, but they had eggs, sausage links and homemade cinnamon scones and muffins. A Keurig machine with a variety of teas and coffees available. Incredibly great location! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning for another trip! I was a little concerned about the window air conditioning being enough, but it was very hot and humid when we were there and the A/C worked great! The room was plenty cool.
