Church Street Commons, aka "The Commons" is a former church made into a community theatre. I am actually very impressed with how they used the space; where the altar was is the stage, and obviously the place for congregation seating is now the audience (folding chairs, not the pews). The overall structure of the sanctuary is perfect for this-the ceiling is vaulted, and the floors are hard wood. I've been a few times for my nieces' youth theatre/ summer theatre camp productions. Students from Ball State direct, and local kids are the cast.they have a small snack bar area where they sell popcorn and candy, water and soda. I am not sure if they use the space for other things, but it would be a great party venue or for a wedding reception. My only wish is that they served beer/wine/liquor. No, I am not kidding. It could be a little more high brow that way.
