This is our second time back eating at the Beef House since we moved away and now relocated back. The atmosphere, friendly service, and quality of food is top shelf. Definitely our go to restaurant we will come back often! A++++

A restaurant and dinner theater located outside Covington, Indiana. A nice place with scenic views and good food. Famous for their dinner rolls. As much of their food as possible is made from scratch and from locally sourced ingredients. Our server Annie did a good job of making sure we had anything we needed and checked on us often in spite of also having a large group in her section to handle.

An Indiana institution! I enjoy stopping here for grab and go burgers or a sit down meal. Traditional menu options abound, with reliable service and old school ambiance. The yeast rolls are excellent as are the hamburger buns. Lots of protein and carb options for your appetite. They also have famously good apple butter and other jams for the rolls. The venerable salad bar has been replaced with ready-made items, a post-Covid adaptation. Get the hamburger and fries to go, with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. You won't be disappointed!

Everything was amazing. The service was fantastic. Can't beat the quality and quantity of food for the price you pay, very cool old-school steakhouse with easy access even for vehicles, pulling trailers.

My first time here and it didn't disappoint. The service was excellent and the food was above average. I started with the bang bang shrimp appetizer. The sauce in the shrimp was much better than a well know chain that serves the same dish. The broccoli soup was creamy and the broccoli was not overcooked. The rolls were on another level: hot, pillowy and fresh. You could literally eat just the rolls with butter and leave. For the entrée I ordered the seafood platter (I know it's a beef place) but I'm not a big steak person. The seafood platter was huge. Everything was fresh and not overly salty. I can't wait to return and try some of their other menu items.

First time visitors. The yeast rolls are simply outstanding. Can't say it enough. They literally melt in your mouth and are hot from the oven. Each meal comes with salad and cup of soup. So much food! Croutons were awesome! Nothing special about the broccoli soup or chicken noodle soup. Nothing BAD, but nothing special. Service was incredible! Attentive, pleasant! The quality of the beef was good. It was properly cooked. Unfortunately the steak has zero seasoning. No salt and pepper on the steaks for cooking. I understand the clientele is primary older but we do enjoy flavor. This is the one place this establishment could use some work on. Yes there is salt and pepper on the table along with steak sauce but a great restaurant often does not need these. The decor could use updating but sure can't fault them here. Would mean closing to update. Easy access from the highway.

Extremely disappointed in our last visit. We moved from the area in 2019 and just returned. The beef house was always a good gathering place for us and our family when getting together, when asked where we wanted to meet for dinner, I said, the beef House, of course! They said OK, we haven't been there in quite a while. I didn't think anything of it because I knew they had changed their eating habits somewhat. As we walked into the dining room, first thing I noticed was the salad bar was gone. It was always a big draw for us, and the rest of the family. Apparently it was done away with during Covid. After talking with my cousins, they said that is why they had not returned. We had no idea. The food quality is average at best, and the salad bar was whatalways drew us to the restaurant. We are just one family so I'm sure it's not a big deal to them. But we found it interesting that another table seated near us experienced basically the same thing as we heard the ladies say they wanted to leave. The gentleman both said we're already here. Let's just eat. We don't have to come back, so I can't believe there are others that don't feel the same way. It's a shame. We had noticed prior to 2019 the food quality had slipped the past few years, but it was still decent. Now it's just average food. And they have become stingy with the rolls and strawberry jam which they always bragged about. Needless to say, we will not return, which is disappointing. It was always a good place to meet as it was central for many of us.

Everything was wonderful! The steaks were as good as promised, the sides excellent, and the bartender obviously knew her/his stuff! This is probably the best place within 30 miles!

10-25-24. We were passing through on vacation and saw the billboard about their yeast rolls. We decided to stop since there were good reviews on Yelp. Wish we had keep on driving! The restaurant is nice and the steak case looked great but then the food wasn't. We both had Ribeyes. My spouse sent it back, ordered medium got rare. The rub /seasoning is overly salty. I ordered appetizer chicken livers with bacon, came out over cooked and charred. I left my steak, too salty . The bake potato was cover in 1/2 cup of sour cream that had what I thought were chives in it. This was poured over it. I had asked for it on the side. The mushrooms were swimming in oil. I tipped the bowl over to pour all of the grease off of them. I had 2 cokes to get the salt out of my mouth. We stopped eating and asked for the check. $80 plus tip. The rolls were the best part of meal. The waitress was nice but I wondered why she didn't asked about the meal since her customers had not eaten their dinners. There were plenty of customers and they have been around since 1964. Good luck if you decide to try them, others seem to like it.
