Taxman - Fortville

Taxman is like that really cute "friend with benefits" you had in your 20's... Not necessarily your first choice, but you always end up having a great time.Listen, I really do love Taxman. With its rustic design, open space, various menu items, and a great beer selection, Taxman is a staple. But it is rarely my first choice. Maybe it's the slightly overpriced menu, or perhaps I've gone there long enough that I simply take it for granted. While the food and drinks are really good, nothing is quite exceptional (The closest thing would be their frites/fries. Those ARE very tasty, I must say). But what I do love about Taxman is that it serves a very important purpose... I can always count on it as the perfect backup plan. This is exactly what happened last Friday night. A group of friends and I started off at an establishment I love, but they were having a special event and the vibe was off. Was the night ruined? Of course not! Like a dependable friend, Taxman was ready to take us in and provide the perfect environment for great conversation. Add Taxman to your short list. Whether it's your primary destination or the perfect pivot after a last minute change in plans, Taxman will greet you with open arms.

I'm amazed I haven't reviewed Taxman before... we love this place. (We love several places in Fortville. )We have enjoyed the frisco burger, several appetizers and beer. The cauliflower is great. The mac and cheese is good. The chicken dishes are delicious. And, if you like chocolate, the chocolate torte for dessert is amazing. There are several different rooms available in the restaurant, so you can eat downstairs or upstairs. We took the older kids here and they liked the food as well. The servers are usually very nice and friendly. Bartenders are great as well. Recently was disappointed that the server didn't mention all of the added charges (including for a tiny extra sauce that I didn't even eat. ) The photos tell a delicious story.

Just stumbled upon this in Fortville. I liked their beer so thought the food must be good as well.My wife and I were not dissatisfied at all! We had the chicken and waffles with a side of their Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious! The service is great and the ambience is great as well. Would definitely recommend and guarantee we will be back here

Returned once again to the beer of Taxman after a considerable gap in time from the last time we had them.We were fairly impressed with what we got this time around as it was a beer from their Vault Series. The Margarita Style Spin Off is what we had. It's a Farmhouse Saison type of beer which Steve and I like quite a bit. Taxman did a good job getting this beer to taste like a Margarita, that much is for certain and I am happy because of that. Flavors to detect in this beer are similar to the cocktail itself. There is tartness, sour and lime flavors. The beer is very smooth and is light bodied which is something I can appreciate!

Our server Emma was great. She got the order correct and was just attentive enough. The food was decent but a bit expensive for what you get. The side salad ($4 extra) was served in a little boat dish and was so small with just a few leaves in it. I think I got only 4 bites out of it but the balsamic dressing was delicious. The wagyu burger ($20) was cooked to order but needed seasoning. We enjoyed the fries. While the building and decor were beautiful, we found the atmosphere in the bar area to be a bit off with 2 small children sitting right next to us in a cramped area. It would be better if children were seated outside the bar in the main dining area. The bench seating was nice but the high metal stool chair was difficult to sit on without sliding off and was very uncomfortable.

No matter when we come the food is amazing and consistent. We are obsessed with the pretzels. And I love ordering apps and a side while my husband gets an entree. Great prices and great service !!!!

My friends and I loved each entree we got! It was our first time and the whole place has a great vibe with a delicious menu full of items to choose from! I love that they also have seasonal options, so there are different options each time you go! We had great, quick service as well, making the trip great!

The inside had a nice rustic touch and seemed very open. Our waiter was great and gave us all his suggestions and thoughts. The pretzel and beer cheese was a hit! I would definitely recommend that as a starter. The frites as a side were also great - nice and crispy. For the burger and wings we were not impressed and maybe it was an off nice but there was not a whole lot of flavor from the dipping sauces to the sandwich and wings themselves.

Food is outstanding. Pretzel and cheese curd starters are truly outstanding. I had trout which also was excellent. And finally, the crème brûlée cheesecake was so delicious. Love this place. For beer places in Indy it is the absolute best!

This location never disappoints!Thank you for great service, wonderful fresh food and awesome craft beer! Open one in Westfield!!??!?
