Getlostindiana was invited to attend the "Taste of Speedway" event this evening, held at the Dallara IndyCar Factory. What a fun way to sample the local tastes (nearly 40!) from "Exhausted Parent" ice cream to human grade rotisserie chicken flavored dog treats! You read that right. Go ahead. Read it again if you need to, then refer to the photos to see how humans can eat these treats. Aaaaanyway, enjoy these photos. The final photo is all the loot that came home with me! And with that, "The Snack Shack" is stocked for the summer! I don't have a dog, but neighbor dogs know I have dog treats! If you haven't gotten lost on Main Street in Speedway, Indiana, lately, it's time to get back in the race!

This was my first "Taste of Speedway" event which was held at the Dallara IndyCar Factory. I was impressed by how much food was available. At first, you might think that the portions are really small, but by the time you visit over 30 places to try what they have brought, you get pretty full! I am particularly fond of the Main Street restaurants. I enjoyed the food from Dawson's, Big Woods, 1911 Grill, Tacos & Taquila, Daredevil, and many more. And not all the vendors were restaurants. There were a wide variety of businesses in Speedway that brought food too. Some were apartment complexes, or realtors, while others were promoting fitness and healthy living. There was a lot of variety from snacks and donuts, to ribs, chicken, pastas, and desserts. The price was very affordable with tickets bought in advance being only $10, while they were $15 at the door if you held off.As my wife and I entered the building, it appeared that the room was pretty full with visitors already. There were a few tables for people to be seated, but not nearly enough for everyone, so it was important for people to clear their own trash before leaving (sadly, there were a few who weren't so considerate.) Trash cans were in short supply especially since there were lots of small plates and cups being disposed. What I didn't realize right away was that there were more vendors on the north end of the building. There was a bit of a bottleneck where some large displays blocked a view of the numerous vendors on that side. Because a vendor was right by the bottleneck, it was hard to tell if people were waiting in line or waiting to get through to the other side. Fortunately, everyone seemed to be in good spirits and enjoyed the evening. Hopefully any future events can address the trash and table issues and be mindful of the bottlenecks created by displays.Review #2490

This is my third Taste of Speedway now that I remember. It's gotten bigger and better! I spotted Niki at the Yelp table passing out cute bags with a gift card to Four Day Ray! Thanks Yelp! There were so many samples of food you literally needed more hands to hold everything. The dry rubbed wings from 1911 are so good! The pulled pork bbq sliders from The Brickyard Crossing Smokehouse are a must try. There were a couple of quesos and chips all of which were hot and great. The spinach artichoke dip from Dawson's on Main is a two thumbs up. Tacos and Tequila had churros and a really good queso that had corn in it. I don't know the name of it though. :-/ There were other businesses not just restaurants that were handing out information and samples. City Dogs will have there grand opening this Saturday. I normally take more pictures, but man they had so many samples I couldn't even hold my phone in my hand. The only things that might help for next year might be if they had more tall tables so people could put their plates and drinks down and eat. I also wish they had more trash cans available throughout. It's in a great location and is a great event. Can't wait for next year!

What a fun event! A great way to check out the many fabulous restaurants, bars/breweries, and other businesses in Speedway. Our group especially appreciated that the admission price was reasonable - $10 ahead of time or $15 at the door. However, it would improve the event if tickets were available at multiple locations ahead of time - even living in Speedway, it was hard to track down tickets ahead of the event. Once you're in, though, there were generous and plentiful food samples, which was really fun. Some of our favorites were the ice cream from Fundae's, beer and pretzels from Daredevil, pulled pork from Brickyard Crossing Smokehouse (at IMS), and wine from Foyt Wine Vault. We also appreciated that long-standing businesses and newbies alike were well-represented, and it was also nice that some items - like full-size beers - were also available for purchase. I think wine for purchase would also be popular, but this is a wonderful, fun event just as it is.

What an awesome event!! My husband and I attended with friends. Well worth the ticket price to get it. There is TONS of food to sample and some beverages. Many businesss to get information from and none of them were pushy at all. We also won quite a few gift cards. We paid $30 to get in and won $40 worth of gift cards and a free app at a local restaurant. There were ALOT of prizes handed out. Can't wait for next year!

This is one of the best community events in Speedway! Be sure to buy your tickets in advance, as it sells out quickly at the event. For only $10, you get to sample foods from the majority of Speedway's tasty eateries. It wasn't just tiny samples too, they are decent portions and you leave plenty full. This is a 21+ plus event so know that before you go. This is a great time to visit with neighbors, learn about some new local businesses and snack! What could be better?!

This was the first time we attended this event. We found it very informative and found some local businesses that we were not aware of. Everyone was very nice and it was well organized.
