Must-Try: Quesa Birria and Burrito EspecialPro Tip: Wash it down with an ice-cold Coke Mexicana --nothing better! If you're craving authentic Mexican flavors, Taqueria Acapulco is where it's at. From the inviting, cozy atmosphere to the incredible street-style bites, every dish feels like a flavorful escape to Mexico What to Order: The Quesa Birria is loaded with tender, juicy meat and melty cheese--don't forget to dip it in the rich consommé! The Burrito Especial is a game-changer, stuffed to perfection and packed with flavor. Everything we had was super flavorful and not spicy at all. It was a lot busier when we first arrived - 1:30pm and the staff was so friendly and helpful! Keep in mind - they do NOT sell beer, alcohol etc

I have a hard time finding good tacos and carnitas since moving to Indiana from Arizona and the carnitas taco was excellent! We ordered 3 tacos (carnitas, asada, & pollo) and 1 tinga quesadilla. All of the food was delicious and large portions, my order was ready quickly. Staff was nice and restaurant was very clean for a college town. Would definitely eat here on my next visit to Bloomington!

Great service and great Mexican food! Compares to places in Southern California! Pulled chicken chalupa - pulled chicken is their specialty (as stated on the menu lol) lots of veggies on top a crisp and fluffy shell like an open faced sandwich. Would 100 percent get again Al pastor Gordita - comes with two fried tortillas like a sandwich and just the meat. Wish it came with more veggies so that the tortillas didn't overtake the flavor but it was still good. Loved the pineapple Green creamy sauce was excellent - put it on top of everything!

Great food. I had the Quesa Birria Tacos. There are four (4) tacos to an order, which was plenty (and probably shareable. Service was prompt and everyone was friendly. Take some time to walk around and visit the nearby stores.

This is a small authentic Mexican restaurant on the square in downtown Bloomington. It's clean on the inside and there are probably about 10 tables to sit for dining. You can also order at the counter for carryout. I do not know if they had outside dining as it was February when we went. The waiter and the cashier were the same person and he was polite and attentive. I do not know how many staff they have since he was the only one we ever saw. The menu has many choices. As far as I know there is no kids menu. No cheeseburgers for kids or the like. You are served water although they do have Mexican Coke and a few other drink choices. I don't believe there are any signature drinks that I recall. The portion sizes are large and fresh. The food is good. I had the Cubana, which was tasty, but I probably would not get it again. It was too soggy on the bottom and had these "hot dog" looking things that might have supposed to have been sausage on them, but I'm not sure. My husband had enchiladas and said they were good. Our daughter had a chicken quesadilla and enjoyed it. The service was quick and if you are looking for authentic taste and some different dishes than the same old same old, I would give them a try!

This unassuming Mexican restaurant on the Square blew me away. It looks like a nice, slightly upscale taco shop with counter service, but on a Saturday afternoon, we got table service. We ordered several items: Ham & Cheese Torta, Queso Birria (beef), and a Carne Asada Gordita. The torta was very good with the melty Oaxaca. The queso Birria was fantastic with corn tortillas that were soft, but strong enough to not fall apart while eating the taco. The Birria and consome was not as rich as other Birria I tried, the meat was tender and flavorful. My favorite dish was the Gordita. The carne asada was well cooked and seasoned on a thick homemade corn tortilla. I was ecstatic that the carne asada was tender and overcooked and burnt like other Mexican establishments. If you are looking for a solid Mexican restaurant in Bloomington, I highly recommend Taqueria Acapulco.

This is a simple, nicely decorated kind of cheap eats place located in Bloomington downtown. The place has a very authentic feel with latin classics playing on the TV, and great tropical scenery wall murals. The menu is simple and authentic, staff is very friendly and if you speak Spanish very interesting to talk with. I not only enjoyed the food here but the interaction with the staff. Menu is on the wall, you order at the counter and they bring it out to you. This is not your typical enchilada, taco, burrito restaurant with too much cheese and a side of rice and beans. This is authentic, with sopes, huaraches, and tortas made with a truly authentic spin. Enjoyed the crema, cotija cheese, and shredded lettuce and all the flavors were awesome.Whoever is cooking behind the scenes is making great street food, nicely presented, for a great value. Will go back when I'm in Bloomington.

We were on kirkwood looking for lunch and ending up wandering in here. As a restaurant we've never been to before, we deemed it our restaurant of the month. Walking in, it has the feel of an authentic Mexican restaurant. The decor as fun and the place was small. It's kind of confusing what you're supposed to do when walking in - order at counter / seat yourself / wait to be seated. The lady working was super friendly and had us find a table and supplied us with menus. The menus were great because the entire back is photos of the food, which made my choice easy ! The table was unfortunately very wobbly. Barely touching it, sent it flying. On the tv, it seemed like they were streaming a YouTube DJ - which I thought was super fun !When we got our food, we received huge portions ! My partner had asked if one would be enough for his lunch portion, so we had to laugh when it was set in front of him. My tortas was amazing. The only tortas I had ever had was steak, so having the Cubana was certainly different. The salsa was also phenomenal - so good that my partner even commented on how tasty it was. Definitely recommend coming in - the staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the portion sizes are huge !I gave 4 instead of 5 stars simply because of the confusion on what to do, the table being wobbly, and the inconsistency of prices on the menu.

We were literally the only people in the restaurant on this particular day, which is not a great sign for the place. But we had a nice experience nonetheless. It's a nice little room and the service was good, even though the server said he had just started. Prices are probably a smidge high, but the food quality was good. I did think the tacos could use a little more creativity. They were essentially just meat, onion, and cilantro. And is was a LOT of onion. That said, the meats were of very high quality, so I still enjoyed them. So I would consider this place good, not great. I would be willing to come back, but wouldn't consider it essential.

This was the most flavorful, authentic and delicious Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico. We found Taqueria Acapulco when passing through town, but I would drive a hour just to have it again! Excellent service as well and a cute little space.
