The Stutz recently had an update and it's fantastic! Tonight was one of the first of the winter market events they will be hosting this month. The building will be offering new food options, which I'm so excited about since I work 5 min away from here, including Cafe Patachou, Amelia's and more. The art booths and staff were so welcoming and friendly tonight. I found some great buys from a number of local artists. The decor was beautiful, the vintage cars on display were fun to admire and the vibe was cozy fun. I always love visiting this space and can't wait to come back again!

I can't believe I have never been in this building! The building is massive- four floors full of businesses, art studios, car collection, and a restaurant. The artists were all friendly and most had hand sanitizer as well as masks available. The art is varied between paintings, pottery, photography, and jewelry. I wish I had the funds to purchase some items as the talent is wonderful.

If you like classic cars and a funky spot to explore check out the Stutz gallery. We asked a few people but went during a working day so we're able to find there car gallery by asking someone who works there. Otherwise it is a bit hard to navigate but just enter from the east side and head to the second floor. There is an art gallery with some fun and different art expressions to explore. And then there is the fun car exhibit! There are 14 cars ranging from pace cars to classics and it is amazing to see all the detail and craftsmanship. We plan to go back during a first Friday event to check out a lot of the artists. But it was fun to see the cars and explore a bit as a first visit.

The Stutz, much like the Circle City Industrial Complex, is one of those repurposed industrial complexes filled with as many twists and turns as shops and businesses. If you want to visit the gallery in Stutz, I suggest street parking (southbound on Capitol). You can either walk through the gated alley from the east side of the complex or from the 10th Street alley on the south side to the outside gallery door. The gallery door lets you into another grouping of business, including a loading dock with an antique fire engine. But if you take a right as you enter through the second door of the entry, you will find the gallery just passed the elevators. The gallery itself has two show rooms connected by an annex that features other artists not part of the show. The gallery is open Wed-Fri from 11 to 2 and is free. It is also open on the first Friday that the new exhibit opens. Most shows run a month, but it is best to check the website for specifics. There are also open houses where most of the artist's studios (around 70) are open to check out and purchase art pieces. The studios are located upstairs during the open houses. The next open house will be April 28-29, 2017. During my visit, the artist had pieces from five decades of work on display. She had acrylics and watercolors, hand cast ceramics, and drawings. Overall, the exhibit was interesting to view, though I wasn't moved to make a purchase.Review #247

Such a neat historic location to go to. There are art shows starting back up again now that COVID restrictions have loosened up. Many photographers, ceramic artists, jewelers, painters, and drawers from the local area have studios in various spaces of the 4-story building to visit and view their art. My husband and I missed going over the past year and were happy to be back and view some lovely art today during their first art show of 2021.

Two pro tips:1. Get a map before you venture beyond the door. It's only four floors, but the layout is incredibly confusing for some reason. And you certainly don't want to miss anything when you're here.2. If you've never been, go on a First Friday event. While cocooned by one-way streets and a highway, there IS street parking available, but there's also a parking lot that is open at least for evening events. It's located across the street from Capitol Street and 10th Street.
