We took our parents here last night and it was the first time for all of us. It is an old theater renovated. We saw the Nashville Imposters. They were pretty good. The theater was nice for its age. We will return if there is another show there we are interested in.

We visited the Strand twice this week to see live entertainment from two different groups we enjoy. Each time was so easy, they don't need tickets they have your name. If you choose upgraded seating your name is on the chair. Tickets are reasonably priced and are easy to obtain. The management is special. Seems this is an organization that took an old movie and vaudeville theatre and redid it. The owner meets and greats and it is a special touch. Asks if you enjoyed the program as you leave. Nice. The seats are comfortable, and the sound system is great. They sell sodas and popcorn and other treats just like the old show would have done.Parking is not a problem, getting there from Indpls is not a problem, about 20 minutes from 465 east.Looking forward to another presentation that catches "our fancy."

Very nicely redone ole theater that has live shows, comedy acts, bands, plays, and more! Step back in time to elegance when you walk into this place. They have a small concession stand just off to the left side when you walk in. Very nostalgic place to go for some low cost live on a stage entertainment. They kept all the glitz and glamour of years past when they carefully redid this place. For something different than a new release movie at a normal theater, catch a show here sometime. But wait, there's more, if you do want to see a special Christmas, Halloween, or seasonal classic type movie, they also play these too during certain seasons. Next time you see their outside billboard with a show you want to see, stop in a enjoy a night of fun. Limited parking on the street in front of the theater, but lots of parking across the street in the free town parking lot area.

I love exploring small towns and historic buildings. You will get both of these experiences should you venture over to the Strand Theater. It was built in the 1900s and has been remodeled and is running as a not-for-profit. We went to see Michael Malone's world release of his movie Bethlehem by comedian Michael Malone. It is frustrating when you go somewhere and not only do they not take cash, they don't have a bank machine in the building. However, there is one across the street in CVS. They had a small bar in there. I don't know if they always do or if it was just for this performance. But, drink prices were high at $6 for a small pour of liquor. Concession stand was small, but had popcorn and fountain soda and what more do you really need. The staff was very friendly and seemed very proud of their venue. We were thrilled to see that they are showing Hoosiers tonight with Bobby Plump there to tell the story so we are heading back tonight. What better way to see Hoosiers than in a small town theater? They seem to have a lot of comedians come through and I hear mention of Fright Nights and I absolutely love horror movies so I will be checking in to it and looks like they try to do some free events like they are showing Elf for free.

Could be neat but no one wants to put the money into it it needs. Last time I was there a mouse ran across my foot and I never went back. The fact that no one was concerned told me it was a common occurrence. Yikes.

This place is a great venue for Shelby county. They bring semi big named comedians in, bands, plays, and other forms of entertainment to Shelby county. We saw Donnie Baker the other night and the show was very funny. The only problem is, my girlfriend won't quit talking about her pork sword every time she cuts sausage with a knife. She won't believe me that Donnie wasn't talking about a steak knife when he referred to his pork sword.

I pretty much love any historical building. This one is located in downtown Shelbyville and they have a wide variety of entertainment throughout the year. The renovations were completed by volunteers and the theatre takes you a step back in time with its charm. My first trip was to see IMS Historian, Donald Davidson and I would return for events in the future.

In the up and coming city of Shelbyville in the middle of an old fashion downtown that has been invaded by the chain stores stands The Strand Theater. The volunteers that have revitalized and run this theater have done an amazing job. You can tell the work they have done to restore the history and tradition of this great Vaudeville style theater of yesteryear. They bring in top notch entertainment as well as support the community with excellent local shows. If you ever get a chance to see a show at The Strand you will not be dissapointed! Drop some cash into the donation box because the volunteers work hard to keep this place up!

Who doesn't love exploring small towns and their quaint buildings? The Strand Theatre in Shelbyville is just the place to go! A renovated theatre that has been restored to it's former luster. The Strand was built in the early 1900s as a Vaudeville theatre and has been transformed from different types of theatres, to a cinema, and now back into what it was meant to do...support local arts and entertainment. Since it's reinstatement as the Strand this local gem has been hosting local and nationally known comedians (I.e. Friends of Bob & Tom, Costaki Economopoulos, and soon Caroline Rhea). Comedian Michael Malone filmed his netflix special at the Strand. It also is a place for local arts & entertainment hosting several bands, plays, and local events every month in addition to Friday Night Frights highlighting new and classic horror films. When you first step in you may be drawn back by the pink interiors, however, I'm told this was the original colors of the theatre. It is completely grant and donation funded and all the "workers" are volunteers who spend their time helping. I love going to The Strand for affordable entertainment and to support local arts! Be sure to check it out!
