Great park nestled in the middle of a neighborhood.

I am starting to see a trend with Indy Parks. They build parks by elementary schools so that they can use them, I guess. This is another city park that has been commandeered by an elementary school, in this case Stout Field Elementary School. The playground was packed with students from the school while I was there. I think it was actually worked into their schedule.Anyway, the park is relatively small and has a small parking lot. The park is about 14 acres. There is also a half decent full basketball court at the park. I have seen better and I have seen worse. The park has a small restroom facility as well. There is a huge green space with a picnic table on it there. The green space/open field can be used to play catch, soccer, football, throw a frisbee, or other outdoor activities. There is also a single shelter with picnic tables under it. The best part of the park however, is its nice paved walking trail and playground. The trail is a decent size. The park does has what appears to be a very nice splash pad. It is small but has a lot of colorful parts and things that shoot water. However, I visited the park off season and the pad was already shut down. The playground has a couple of saucer swings, a futuristic merry go round, a set of traditional swings, and an awesome jungle gym with ladders, slides, rock climbing walls, and monkey bars. It is very nice. There is a small jungle gym for the smaller kids that is shaped like a truck and has a cargo net and a couple of slides. You will find benches that parents can sit and watch while their kids play in this area. The playground is lined with wood chips and as an added bonus they have a musical instrument piece of equipment with blue congos, shakes and other instrumentsThere is also an electronic game (NEOS) that kids can play that has them running around chasing lights. It is programmed with 8 different game modes. The park has some gym equipment by the playground area. There are a few pieces, not much, like an elliptical, chest press, and a lat pull.It is a decent park, especially when the neighboring school is out. It is well maintained and the grounds are well kept. The littles really enjoyed it. It is very accessible an open.

This park has a lot of fun equipment for the kids. My children thoroughly enjoyed the trip. However, I picked up tons of trash upon arrival - nasty used masks, water bottles, ink pens, soda cans. Yuck. That was a little disappointing to see. I'd recommend showing up with rubber gloves and a trash bag if you don't like you're kids playing around a lot of trash. The restrooms were locked. That's disappointing since it's well after May 1 when they should be open. Also, note the park is located next door to a public school, so it's constantly inundated with classes at recess. My kids love that, but it's worth noting if you're looking for a quiet spot to play. We will go back, but when schools aren't in session, and prepared to pick up trash in a sanitary fashion prior to playing.

This park hidden gem. We were looking for splash pads in Indy and decided to try this location. There are only about half dozen street parking spaces but there is a school nearby with parking. The splash pad has a variety of nice water features and is connected to a really nice children's playground. There is a covered seating area nearby and park benches for parents. Also it is connected to a walking path that circles a large field. We really enjoyed our time there.the only reason I gave 4 stars is there was trash on splash pad area and park. However we did go on a Monday morning after a particularly hot weekend so it may be the parks department had not been by to collect trash.

This is one of the better parks on the near southwest side. There is a really great playground and splash area for the kids. There is a paved pathway for walking around the prairie area and a basketball court for older kids. They have a shelter and picnic tables close to the playground too.Though everything looks to be in pretty good shape, the park doesn't have much parking of its own. There are a handful of spaces on the south side of the park, but I imagine some folks park at the nearby elementary school and walk over. The park could also use some tree plantings for shade and some benches around the playground/splash areas so that parents don't have to stand the entire time the kids are playing (especially if the shelter is rented by someone else). It is bright and colorful and looks like a place kids could really have a fun time with equipment that isn't just the same old, same old.Review #667

I have brought my four children to the playground/splash pad twice now, and both times they have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. There is an array of different playground equipment there, some of it quite unique. Some of the equipment is in need of repair, namely the interactive music experience and some of the exercise equipment, but the fun splash pad seems to make up for that in the kids' eyes. It seems clean and the lawn is well-kept. The path around the park may be nice to walk. The whole park could be greatly improved, however, with the addition of more shady spots.Updated: Don't even venture near the bathroom, it looks like a crime scene, and go early in the morning or you may happen upon preteens making out or chain smokers.

This is one of our favorite parks in Indy for a few reasons: 1. It has a splash pad 2. The playground equipment has a variety of things to get your child moving (and parents!)3. There usually aren't tons of people when we come (we haven't come on weekends or evenings though)4. There is something for all agesThe park is centered toward fitness... the playground equipment is slightly different than your typical structures, but in the best way possible! If your kids like to climb, this is a good park to take them. There are stationary exercise equipment, too...which is perfect for moms like me who like to workout when their kid is playing (and still be able to see them the whole time) there is also a fun game where lights light up and you have to race to press them... I'm not explaining it well, but basically you're running around in this circular area trying to hit more lights than your opponent. It's perfect for parents to play with your kids, and it gets everyone moving! I was exhausted by the end of it!My only dislikes are that there really aren't any close seating areas for adults, besides some far away picnic areas. There also is limited shade, so be prepared to get some sun! The parking is in the schools parking lot (I think) and there's not much, but we haven't ever had an issue getting a spot.
