Stookey's Family Restaurant

So good!!! Excellent catfish!! Oh and don't forget the onion rings. Cocktails on the other hand, need some work. A Manhattan shouldn't be sweet. Waitress was fast and attentive.

The restaurant has a mildew smell. Food was below par Desert was dry and served cold.

Second time here and even better than the first. Of course you have to do the onion rings as a starter. They are so good and melt in your mouth when hot! Also tried the shrimp cocktail which was also very good. Everyone at the table had steak, two had with catfish filet. Two filets and two ribeye. I had the ribeye and it was very flavorful. I did steal a piece of my hubs filet and it was outstanding! Two sides, I did the baked potato with bacon and applesauce. Lastly I had to try the Oreo cheesecake. WOW, that was good. Unfortunately we were sat right in the main dining room, but thankfully we had Hannah as our server. She was so attentive and food came out quick. While this is an hour from my house, it's worth a good road trip.

What a fun, welcoming small town place to e joy an excellent catfish and even more outstanding ding onion ring surprise birthday for my brother! The staff was so welcoming and pleasant; even brought us an additional huge pile of rings, 'just because'! We were among the first after they opened for dinner, but it didnt take ling for all tables to be filled.They've been serving for decades a d their reputation is deserved. The drive from Kokomo is easy, as Thorntown has a great location for surrounding cities.. even for Indy. Of course, we'll return! Silly question‍

ONION RINGS- do not leave without ordering them and you will want to eat them all! Light and coated and hmmmm perfect. We stumbled into this place on accident. We had gotten our Christmas tree from Dull's and looked for the closest place for lunch that is not a chain, Stookeys came up! We walked in, it was between lunch and dinner so slower, and asked to sit at the bar since no one was there and we did not want to go to that side if it would inconvenience the staff. The waitstaff was like pick anywhere! We had such a great time talking to the lady that worked there and enjoying the great food. There is also a lovely selection of bourbon but the owner was not around to ask about any sales! We did leave our information, but unfortunately no call. Either way, we will stop in again because I still dream of those onion rings.

Cool place! I went in from the Big Four Bike trail, for a quick light lunch and STOOKLEYS IS AWESOME! Their Vinegar Slaw is the BEST EVER! The wait staff is awesome too! Thanks, Stookleys!

I had the great pleasure of meeting the owner of Stookey's this evening. John Stookey and his restaurant is top notch. He's a very caring and accommodating man. Best onion rings you'll ever eat!

I hate to leave this type of review for a family business.... I got food poisoning and this was the only place I visited in a week! I have severe respiratory issues so I pray this doesn't turn into anything worse.

Love there salad with fried chicken cut up on it. The salad is so big you can take it home and eat off of it for 3 days. There's also a wonderful Easter dinner they do with all you can eat. That was some of the best food I've ever eatin. I was very surprised. The staff are great. All his employees are so kind and make you feel right at home! I've never left there dissatisfied.

I'm a local, as you can tell. Save your gas and food money. It's overpriced mediocrity; WAY OVERPRICED. A cheeseburger and horrid drink was $30 bucks; seriously?My Old Fashioned was the second to the worse drink I've been served in my life. Hardly any whiskey, and it was 12 bucks, too boot. No orange peel.I try this place once every now and then, HOPING for something and receiving exactly the what I rated on this review with every visit. Actually, if this website offered 1.5 stars, that'd have been more in-line with tonight's experience.I'm not trying to be too harsh, but eight yrs in this area, and for eight years, every single visit is just a waste of money with this restaurant. Goodbye.
