State Street Pub is a solid spot, though not necessarily my first choice when I'm deciding where to go. I've never had a bad experience here--it's a decent bar with some good things going for it.The music is always good, and the atmosphere is pretty laid-back. The bartender was friendly, and the people there seemed really cool, which makes for a nice vibe. However, the lack of a liquor license limits the drink options, which isn't ideal if you're looking for variety.Overall, it's a decent place to hang out if you're in the area. While it may not be my top pick, I can see why others enjoy it!

One of my favorite dive bars in Indy! I have mostly come for music shows, so I haven't tried their food - someday I hope to update my review to include the food. The people who run this place are cool/nice and the music is a great fun variety. They have a good selections of beers ciders and wine...no liquor, so save your cocktailing for another day. I do think the selection is the right vibe for this bar with live music.I love the outdoor area as well. Some other detailsThe women's bathroom is only one stall, but I've never had to wait long. They have free water and cups at the side of the bar, and it's nice and ice cold! The parking in their lot is somewhat limited, but street parking is available in the neighborhood. It is probably not happening anymore but they were asking for proof of vax or negative test for some shows....last time for me was 8/2022...so now in 2023, i think that's in the past. It can get loud in there but they usually have some earplugs. I bring my own just in case...then I can enjoy the show no matter how loud and not have a headache the next day (but I'm also over 40...so if you're young or more hard core than me...you may still love that ear ringing sensation.... :) )

Decent bar with some dive vibes. Enjoy myself recently for a goth/industrial night with friends. Sound was good and the bartender was friendly. Decent wine list for a divey bar and I appreciated my wine being served in a stemless wine glass. They have a nice patio in the back, too.

Great music venue and fun little dive bar. Cool art on the walls including a big mural outside. Good selection of beer (bottles/cans) and wine. Menu is very simple and no frills, but well executed so if you're coming for a show, show up early and grab a burger or some tacos.

State Street Pub is a unique venue that offers live music of the unique kind. They have an indoor and outdoor stage and serve food as well as beer and wine. My friends and I went to see a particular band that is more heavy metal and eccentric than what I am used to, but they were excellent and very good! State Street Pub has a nice large outdoor patio with stage and the indoor stage set up is small, but nice. The beer list is minimal, but perfect for the venue and the type of crowd it draws in for the live music. My friend ordered the 2/$5 Carnita Tacos with fries and they were surprisingly very good. The staff is professional and accommodating to guests. This is a unique music venue that I visited since living in Indy, but it has a different vibe and culture to it than other music venues and pubs. I would come back here for live music depending on the band.

The only possible reason you would give State Street anything but five stars is because -- and let me be crystal clear here -- you find yourself in the unfortunate predicament of being a riff-averse dork.

Official opened on April 8, 2015, Jimmy Peoni has brought another rad music venue to showcase the Indianapolis music scene. The man behind Gloryhole Records has big plans and has already showcased a multitude of epic shows by both local and touring acts, including Mr. Clit and the Pink Cigarettes, Dirtbike, Chives, Pravada, We Are Hex, Ancient Slang, Thee Tsunamis, Vacation Club, Devil to Pay, Shelby County Sinners, The Smokes (to name a few) and the first show I saw there; Chicago's The Hussy. The atmosphere is chill and unassuming, allowing all (21+) to feel welcome and cross genres, with a vast collection of his own memoriabilia adorning the walls and stalls. If his smile and charm weren't enough, grab a beer and check out the menu. I hear the cheeseburgers are some of the best in town! It's not a bad deal to have too many options for entertainment around town, on most any day of the week. Spread the word and get there if you haven't already. They're open Tue - Thur 11:00 AM - Midnight, Lunch served. Fri & Sat 11:00 AM - 1 or 2 AM, Lunch and Dinner Served.

So I might be a little biased but this place makes me proud to be a Peoni (even though I may or may not ever change my name). The music, the food, the drinks (beer and wine only but they get creative), the atmosphere, the art, the bartenders, the Mo, the kitties!, the list could go on for days. The building itself is fairly nondescript except for the big "SSP" tag. But the inside almost sparkles. The lights, the bar top, it's clean. The place is appealing to the eye, plenty of cool posters to look at and definitely check out the menu painted delicately on the mirror behind the bar. But check out the patio! It's huge! And now it even has its own stage!? WHAT! You might even run across a sweet kitty out there. But oh the food! The fuck pence burger is not only genius but it's very very tasty. They've got some pretty great tacos too. But don't take my word for it, go try them. They have live music or a live event in some capacity almost every day of the week. So if you need something to do on a Wednesday, try State Street! Thank you, Jimmy, for opening a truly ba bar.

Was in town for business relations while I like to jive good local music place for a quick grub. Good burger and some fries. One of the most disappointing thing I had to deal with a door man questioned my validity because I'm Canadian and yet I had to deal with him trying to sell me crack after I caught him with the most nefarious smell next to my car. This place I wouldn't return since I don't do crack. I had to leave. Made my trip very awkward.
