For starters I actually came in seeking employment but quickly put my heavy experience resume away. I sat down at the bar and after I decided within 2 min due to cleanliness and service not to bother I decided to get a beer just to give it a second chance. The "bartender" (I use that lightly) Demisha said "what do you want"Not hi, how are you, not even her name. Only reason I know is because I still have my receipt. I asked for a beer menu, she handed me a sticky laminated word document which seemed to be something I'd print for my own staff to know what beers we have.. not a menu for a guest. I simply asked for a mich ultra draft, she then asked me which number it was on the list so she knew which draft to pour as they didn't have labeled handles. I asked for a shot of fireball in which she said they didn't have. Considering she didn't look, and clearly isn't very experienced. As someone who has managed several high end restaurants and bars all over, I'd consider giving her more training or finding staff members with experience. On top of that there was a gentleman in the bar as well who stared at me for awhile, I couldn't figure out why until a girl, with a wig and trench coat came in clearly not there for a date if you know what I mean. Spoke and Steele is a lovely locally-operated bar/restaurant at the base of the Le Meridian Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. The restaurant is one of the few places offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and is within walking distance to Banker's Life Fieldhouse, Lucas Oil Stadium and the monuments downtown. The dining room is small and intimate with brass fixtures and eclectic decor. We stopped for brunch on Sunday. Eric, our server was polite and attentive. The Sunday menu offers a mixture of breakfast and luncheon options. I had the Provençal Chicken Salad Lettuce Wrap. The poached chicken was moist, tossed lightly in an aioli sauce served on Boston lettuce leaves and topped with fresh tomatoes and chopped pumpkin seeds. The portion was huge, more than I needed. It was delicious. My husband had the French Patty Melt that was so juicy that he talked about it the rest of the day. The beef was topped with grilled mushrooms, onion marmalade and a melted Gruyère. It was truly a delicious sandwich. It was served with French fries that were ok. There was plenty of street parking on Sunday morning. I suggest reservations if going during a busy time. Restrooms are upstairs and are lovely. This was our first visit, but won't be our last.

Went here prior to a show at IRT and was very underwhelmed. We split three appetizers and ordered drinks. Nothing tasted the way you'd expect, to the point we thought we got the wrong drinks. Appetizers were ok, but nothing memorable. We also got a Creme Brule flight, which I was very excited about, but it tasted like yogurt. We were hysterical laughing because it had no sugar top to crack, and the consistency was running yogurt. One tasted like it was rancid, and the others were just odd. The waitress was kind enough to take it off our bill.

Amazing brunch service. This hotel restaurant is a must when in the area. Ask about the history of the wood barrels displayed in the entryway and throughout the restaurant. The roasted mushroom crepes mornay with a brie cheese and cracked pink pepper were nicely plated, the gravy was light and the mushrooms fresh. Gruyère cheese on anything at the right temperature and melted nicely delivers a distinct flavor. And this Angus Patty melt included mushrooms and a red onion marmalade with a house special aioli and truffle butter. The fries were as expected... fresh and the patty melt was served on a buttery and lightly toasted bread. Servers were courteous, accommodating and explained the extensive wine list.

my daughter and I went in one evening for some dessert (and I had a drink) our waitress was amazing and personable (& gave us a great recommendation for coffee the next morning)We had gelato and macarons & I had a yummy liquor drink. I'd recommend this joint to anyone that is looking to chill.

Wasn't what we were looking for, but we were able to get seats at the bar. The menu was very limited, but we ordered the pork chop dish and the chicken dish and both meals were excellent!

This was such a wonderful experience. Loved the environment. Even better, the food was absolutely amazing. Chef Levi truly knows what he's doing.Everything that we had was absolutely amazing. I even ate things that I usually never eat & I loved it.The staff is also super cool. I'm definitely coming back here again for another night of fun.

On Thursday, November 7th, my coworker and I walked into the restaurant without a reservation and they had been bought out for the evening by three private parties that hadn't started yet. Jesse, the amazing bartender, offered to seat the two of us anyway and the Chef personally took our order.I had the Grilled Pork Chop and my coworker had the Steak Frites. Both were excellent choices and the drinks were made to perfection as well. I'm normally a steak guy, but cognac apple compote made me have no regrets for missing out on some beef :) Phenomenal.We were mostly appreciative of their gracious and welcoming hospitality and friendliness.The next time I'm in Indy I'll absolutely be returning, with reservations.We can't thank you enough for a wonderful dinner and experience!
