Soul Pig BBQ

I have been hearing about Soul Pig for a long time since moving to Van Wert, but never went. One day I had to travel to the post office in Decatur to renew my passport and drove through downtown Decatur and saw that Soul Pig was there. I decided to come back, bring my family and try it out.We came one friday night, days before Christmas 2023. It was a frigid night and we were hoping some good bbq could bring some warmth. We came in, the place was packed. In order to get a table, we told them we would be willing to sit in the only picnic style table they had in the place. Not the most comfortable choice, but we were famished! Its not a large restaurant, so theres not a lot of tables available if you do come.The waiter quickly got our drink order, beers. We also ordered an appetizer. We started out by trying the pepper-jack and bacon hushpuppies. They were full of flavor, heat and also had a surprising sweetness to them. I can now understand why all of the recommendations I got about Soul Pig stressed the need to try this from their menu. I can see them being addicting. We then ordered our main courses. My mom got the mixed bbq platter of two meats and two sides. She only really wanted the bbq pulled pork, but my brother and I wanted to try out the smoked sausage. So we got that off her plate. Her sides were collard greens and baked beans. she loved her dish, and we also loved the sausage. My brother ordered the Marko Burger with fries which we enjoyed. I ordered the special which was the prime rib... it was amazing... The food was fantastic, the service was excellent. We will certainly come back!

I work in downtown Decatur and I sadly do not visit Soul Pig enough. The food is always excellent, just beating the awesome service always provided! The smoked wings are amazing every single time (I need the recipe!)

The food was amazing with large portions..I ordered a blackberry margarita and it was soooo delicious and service was great.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. So here is one of what I can only describe as the worst brisket of my life. Every bit as awful as it looks. 3 stars bc my dude loved his pulled pork sandwich and my kid ate the mac and cheese and she is a notoriously picky eater. Just don't get the brisket.

Love the ambiance of this restaurant. Service has always been great. Don't serve beer in bottles, can only. Pork is on the salty side but their burgers are fantastic!

We ate here at 2:30 pm for lunch. Sandwiches were generous, excellently prepared and presented. Fries and salads good. Watched music videos and animal videos while we waited. Our server was attentive and friendly.

Nice neighborhood- the pictures show the downtown of Decatur, IN. So pretty and quaint. Fried green tomatoes are seasonal, but the pickles were available, salty, and had a great sauce.If by chance things go amiss, and I bet they won't. Don't fret- your server will fix things immediately and you will be super pleased with your experience.I hope we end up on this detour again. I will be back when we have another work visit to this town and this restaurant.Go- don't wait. Eat in the bar- the seats are comfy and watching the kitchen is part of the fun. We would often drive past this place heading to the airport but never stopped until today.Their brisket is absolutely the best I have ever eaten!The waitress made you feel like part of their family!We will make this place our stop when we pass by in the future!

This place is amazing!!! Food was beyond delicious and the service was excellent too!!! We will most definitely be back.

When you have traveled 2000 miles you want something spectacular and Soul Pig checks all the boxes!!! Did the 3 meat platter and one choice was the jalapeño cheddar-perfect amount of flavor and heat!! Brisket and ribs were the other two and again- perfect! Brother-in-law and I always make a visit!! For Heck Yes awesome barbecue!! Cravings!!!
