The fresh sandwiches are amazing. Words cannot describe how good their homemade breads are. They have a loaf with garlic close embedded in it and I would buy they out if I could. Please take the time to stop and this local shop. Employees are welcoming and knowledgeable, and recommend just the right things. There is not seating, and it's a very small operation but you'll enjoy your fresh items elsewhere.

Made a bunch of sandwiches before a Purdue game. The baguettes were THE bomb! Piled high with cold cuts, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, peppers, olives, oregano, salt, pepper and Italian dressing. The baguette was super crusty which made it pair oh so well with the dressing. Crispy on the outside with a burst of flavors from the inside. Lady working registers was super helpful picking out a good loaf. Walk up counter made it easy to order. Very chill. All take and go.

I had a delicious sandwich here and amazing chocolate croissants! So excited to have a bakery in town. I look forward to trying out more of their bread--especially their sourdough. Bonus: There is a discount on day-old bread and pastries. Still delicious, and will save you a bit of cash!

I can't overstate my love for Smitty Bread. It's by far my favorite bakery in Lafayette/West Lafayette. The location is just a bit outside of downtown on 4th street but not too bad if you're used to going to the market downtown on Saturdays. The bread here is on point. The sourdoughs are amazing but my go to is the baguette. It's got a great crumb on the outside but nice and chewy on the inside. At $4 a loaf, it is a great affordable price point.Don't forget their croissants either. I had the opportunity to have one of their fresh baked almond croissant right out of the oven and it was perfect.This place is worth making a trip to Lafayette alone and is a great bakery in the community. You can also find them at the the local farmers markets .

Incredible and obvious the high ratings across both Yelp and Google for this sourdough centric bakery paving the way to aroma heaven. Sadly there's limited ingredient and flavor options, nothing gluten free or grainless, would love to see some black beans and such show up especially at these California city prices! Friendly and fun staff made my first time stop a win, easy to indulge on everything tempting me from the shelves yet at seven dollars a loaf I felt better dropping that on an almond scone and cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was surprisingly similar to the ones my mom used to make, yup fresh ground flour too! Cannot say mom has been beaten there but the scone made perfection jealous! Wow! I would easily come back just for that. Parking is plentiful despite sharing the lot with the mentally disturbed graphically challenged neighbors who certainly seem to share my own old fashioned mental trauma however I prefer music to Picasso graffiti. Yet I'm often trotting inside to grab Eleventh House coffee and all the better now to add a scone with it!

I want to say that I'm a huge sourdough fan so the fact I know where to come when I'm in town for work is great. Had the Reuben sandwich, a chocolate croissant, some cinnamon rolls and a sourdough boule. All were great and definitely the spot I will come to for my bread delight! But maybe it was the timing when I came in, there was so much confusion on order tickets and multiple people doing the register while making sandwiches which made it feel chaotic but everyone was joyful. Other than that, you have good coffee and some amazing items worth trying. I'll be back!

Awesome sourdough bread, great pastry, and coffee. Family owned and run. Strong counter service, even when busy. Other yummies include almond croissants, spinach and feta danish and swirl pumpernickel. Smitty's dad ran the best grocery in West Lafayette FOREVER! It is so reassuring in these troubled times to see family traditions exist and flourish in Lafayette Indiana! Highly recommended.Cynthia, Lafayette

Super cute and homey ambiance, exactly what I want from a bakery. Great prices and the spinach feta croissant was delicious. They were also willing to give me some of their sourdough starter. Great experience, definitely recommend
