Oh gosh, Shapiro's was out of so many things when I visited on a weekend around dinner time. No sides at all, no croissants, no corn beef. So I got a smoked turkey sandwich on wheat bread, and it was very tasty, but it might have tasted better on a croissant! I wouldn't know, though, because again, they were out of croissants. The smoked turkey is not slices of turkey breast, but instead pre-sliced deli turkey. Everyone was so slow here when I visited. It took me a good 20 minutes to get my sandwich! I guess don't visit Shapiro's if you're in a hurry.

"What's the pastrami like here?" "I don't know, I've not eaten anything here." When the cashier gives you that response, that's called a red flag. The best pastrami sandwiches in the country go for $20. That's what Shapiro's in the airport charges. Hence, my question. If you think your pastrami is worth $20, your cashier better be singing it's praises. Opted for the roast Turkey sandwich. A cafeteria-style offering on dry, wheat bread with discount Swiss cheese, that wasn't really Swiss cheese. $15. For a dry turkey sandwich. Shapiro's: reinforcing Indy airport's reputation as the worst airport food in the nation.

The rating is based on paying $20 for a basic Ruben and the meat was very fatty. Was unable to eat half the sandwich. The employee was brand new and left on her own. Avoid this option when traveling through IND.

I started to get a sandwich here but there was meat stuck in the deli meat slicer. No telling how long it had been there and just looked gross. I ended up buying a bottled soda and the cashier was friendly.

Stopped at Shapiro's this morning around 6am. Long line, but moved quick. Bagel was ready as we were ordering. Decided on a sausage, egg, & cheese bagel, only gave 4 stars because despite 2 signs listing they had mustard they told me they did not. This was super disappointing as the bagel was super dry. Trying to be positive and be grateful it wasn't super greasy either but some mustard or Mayo would have earned them another star. A bit pricey, about $10 but if I was in this gate again without anything open I would consider eating here again.

On my way home to avoid a snowstorm I stopped to grab some breakfast at Shapiro's. It was really busy but I had time before my flight so I waited. And waited. Not like me to wait but whatever. When I got waited on all I ordered as a buttered bagel and a water. $9.53 later I leave only to realize I didn't get a receipt. I walked back in to learn they couldn't give me one. I was promised they would email it to me but they didn't. The bagel was good. No complaints. They just didn't have enough help.

The tuna salad sandwich was actually delicious! The salad wasn't just tuna and mayo, there were also pieces of celery and relish in there (and it seemed like maybe egg?) that added some flavour and texture. I had it with 1000 Island dressing which was great, and thankfully they didn't slather the dressing on - just a light coating on the bread. Even though they loaded up the sandwich with filling, the slices of bread weren't huge, so $14 was pretty expensive for a simple deli sandwich, although obviously you expect to overpay at an airport. The cashier here was super nice and made my morning with how cheerful she was. I also appreciated that they broke out the tuna salad for me at 10:27 when lunch technically starts at 10:30. The line moved pretty quickly too.

Wanted a Rueben and stood in line for 10 minutes while five employees stood around acting busy. At no time did any of them address me or ask if they could help. Yet another reason airport restaurants largely suck. No management and zero care for the customer

Sad excuse for edible/presentable food.Spent $30 on a bagel sandwich and 2 pieces of dry toast, rubber ribbon bacon that resembled elastic! Food practices unhygienic. Threw it all away. Every employee was yelling and swearing at each other!!! I started telling people entering to go somewhere else. If I could give them 0 stars I would

10-13-24 I stopped for lunch at the Meridian street location. I was disappointed with the hot pastrami on rye bread. There was fat in every bite and the bread was dried out end pieces. This was an expensive sandwich $20.50.The restaurant is not of the same quality as when it was managed by the late Mr. Shapiro.
