We had never been to this park before, I was looking for a trail to walk and this was perfect! Perfect location, has so much to offer. Playground, creek, bridges, basketball court and walking trail. It was beautiful!

Sarah T. Bolton Park is named after the woman largely considered the first lady of Hoosier poetry (I bet you can guess what her name was!). Originally known as Beech Bank, the park was purchased by the city from the Bolton family 1930 and is a nearly 32-acre park that includes picnic areas, a one-acre dog park, play equipment, shelters, restroom facilities, athletic facilities/courts, a creek, and it has a sort of winding topography that makes it Beech Grove's most popular park. It is also recognized as a certified wildlife habitat. In 2012, the baseball diamond was named after Richard "Dick" Templin, a lifelong Beech Grove resident and longtime city council member who managed Beech Grove's American Legion Baseball Team for over 35 years and had scouted for the Philadelphia Phillies. He's a member of the Beech Grove Little League Hall of Fame. I bet you didn't even know that Beech Grove Little League has a Hall of Fame, did you?The park has ample parking and is paved throughout. Generally, it's wheelchair friendly. The paths/sidewalks do have gentle inclines, though I've never had any difficulty navigating. Bolton herself was a poet and women's rights activist whose most known poems were "Indiana" and "Paddle Your Own Canoe." She wasn't well known outside Indiana, though she was quite popular in Indiana. She is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery. There is also a veterans war memorial in Bolton Park that is also wheelchair friendly, though it also has a bit of an uneven surface. Geocachers should also note that Bolton Park has a couple of geocaches within its boundaries, though one, in particular, is definitely a bit tricky to access due to the park's popularity!

Please be aware that you must be a member of this dog park to gain entry. Membership is much cheaper than anywhere else in the greater Indianapolis area and can be purchased at BG City Hall.I love the membership factor of our park because it ensures that only dogs who are up-to-date on vaccinations can come in. It also means that the humans who come take care of the space by cleaning up after the dogs.

Sarah Bolton park is great for families, for pet owners, for individuals that just want to go and walk. My husband and I recently got a bloodhound puppy and we pay for him to be able to use the dog park inside sarah Bolton. The dog park is great because its fenced off from the rest of the park so people with dogs can be in their own zone without bothering anyone. The park has several play areas for kids. It has a couple basketball courts as well as a couple baseball diamonds. One of the great things about beech grove is all the parks for people to utilize. Sarah t. Bolton park is also where they hold the annual fireworks on july 3rd. We dont go to the actual park to watch them because we live close enough to see from back yard but I hear it gets packed quickly.

This park is loaded with activities for visitors. The park is called the Sarah T Bolton Park and serves not only as a spacious area of greenery for walking and outdoor activities, there is a war memorial on the south side of the park, a playground, a dog park, and a baseball park across the creek. There is a lot of paved parking spaces and many mature trees. All the roads are blacktopped and seemed well maintained.Review #618

Seems like a nice place. Too bad it's locked up. As a traveler with a service dog, it's saddening to see.
