Ok I think I found the world's best burrito here at #SanJoseTaqueria in Anderson, IN. Just almost finished the Burrito Al Pastor. Its huge! Comes with rice. I don't think many people could finish this burrito. Absolutely delicious! I travel for a living and eat Mexican probably 2 times per week. The salsa is on point. Needed no hot sauce. Plenty favor and spice. No El Yucateco needed. Service here is very good. Server very attentive. So if you're around Anderson IN definitely check this place out. You wont be disappointed and trust me you will not leave hungry. It seems they have specials which are on the chalkboard as you walk in. I chose the Burrito Al Pastor based on another Yelper's comments. Great choice. If you like anything Al Pastor, this is the place. Prices are reasonable. This place has many draft beer options and Margaritas. ($10 for Pitcher of beer). Well I'm very satisfied with my experience as most Mexican restaurants are mediocre at best. Anderson IN has an epic Mexican eating experience! Well done San Jose!!

This place was recommended to me. Now I don't live in Anderson, but they said it's fantastic and worth the drive. So, on a random Tuesday, I made the trip. It is right on the Main Street in Anderson near all the car dealerships, Michaels, etc. It's in a strip mall, so plenty of parking. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went in because of this, wasn't sure if it would be take out only, or if they would actually have seating but it's an actual restaurant with plenty of seating. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat. The staff all stopped by to say hello and very friendly. No sooner than we sat down our server (who was also the person that sat us) obtained our drink order and thanked us for coming in. We ordered pretty quickly and the food came out just as quick. I must say the salsa is 10/10. Tacos, solid, although you can't really go wrong with tacos and fajitas, hard to mess those up. It is a solid taco spot. We ordered taco platter which included 3 tacos, and the fajitas and one drink and the bill came up with tip around $40, so not super cheap but reasonable for the amount of food you get.The reason for my 5 is less about the food and more about the service.

Very good homemade salsa best we've had in town. Many vegetarian options to choose from, the spinach and mushroom quesadilla was delicious. The carnitas burrito was very good also. Will be back especially because the service was perfect.

I you see a rating of less than 5 stars for San Jose Taqueria then you need to just move on. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. (Just kidding) Seriously though, if you haven't visited San Jose, you are missing out. San Jose Taqueria is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Madison county and probably the surrounding counties IMO. Their menu is unlike any typical menu from the other Mexican restaurants and that what the owner intended. He told me he spent many hours developing the recipes for the menu; pulling from family and traditional foods from Mexico. The restaurant is located next the PayLess supermarket in Applewood Center just off of I-69 in Anderson, Indiana. The interior is what you might expect from any Mexican restaurant but that is where the similarities end. Take your time to go through the menu because you see things you haven't seen before and you will have questions. The staff is more than happy to answer any question you might have because they want you to have an incredible eating experience. If you are there for lunch and it is slow, you just might be able to talk to the owner. He is super proud of the restaurant and will tell you about the journey to open San Jose.Anyway, about the food. I usually get the Burrito Renatá and is what I ordered my first time there. The Burrito Renatá is a burrito filled with al pastor, topped with cheese and their special green sauce. All with a side of rice. When they brought the burrito to the table, it looked a work of art! It looked so much better than any other burrito I have had at those 'other' places. Speaking of looks, remember that old adage... looks can be deceiving? Well, that applies to the Buritto Renatá. It is on the spicy side. Not too spicy, but just enough to let you know its there. Every bite you take has tortilla, al pastor, cheese and that amazing green sauce. You definitely gwet your money's worth! The rice is perfect. Not over and not under cooked. A nice addition to the whole meal. "What about the beans?" you may be asking yourself. San Jose's beans are great, but trust me... you don't miss them with this dish. The burrito and the rice are more than enough to fill even the biggest eater in your group. I love tequila. I love margaritas. If I had one complaint with anything at San Jose, it would be the margaritas. They are 'ok'. Not great but ok. That may change because they are expanding in to the space next door so they can have more seating and a full bar. So stay tuned for that announcement. If you can tell, I highly recommend San Jose Taqueria. The food is outstanding. The ambience nice. The service exemplary. You don't want to miss this place!

When I first came in I was a little nervous, it didn't look like your typical Mexican restaurant. I never thought such a small place could have so much personality. The people were nice and very eager for me to order. The food didn't take long at all to come out, it was delicious I got the chicken fajita nachos my go to when out at Mexican! I highly recommend you try this hidden gem.

Amazing! So very good! Every single thing about this restaurant is amazing! The atmosphere, the staff, and the food! I love it! It reminds of my childhood in a small farm town in Colorado. I feel at home when we go here! When I first moved to Indiana, there was Taco Bell and Chi Chi's, which is nowhere close to authentic, and that was over 30 years ago! I grew up on authentic! This is my new favorite!

This is one of my all time favorite Mexican restaurants around! Every dish I have gotten from here has been fantastic. From the tacos to the enchiladas to the salsa & queso (my favorite in the area!!!), all of the food is amazing. Also, the staff is excellent! Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and helpful. Also, make sure to check out their daily/weekly deals for some great discounts on certain dishes. Highly recommend stopping by--you will not regret it!

What great owners. Food is made with passion and sprinkled with love. Finally more than two tacos at a place. Giant menu. I'm was foodie before that term was thrown around . Not sure how they do it. I try something new often enough to say I haven't ordered one thing that I have to make room for in my fav line up.Always happy to see us. As we are them. I consider them good friends. Moved up here from Indy 6 yrs ago. Nothing but chain food that saved me from cooking. In 57 yrs I've tried a bunch of Mexican joints. So to say I'm happy they are here now is an understatement.5 minutes from my home. Grande Modelo is fresh and crisp every time. Grub makes my eyes roll in my head. All high quality food. Build your own fav list, and high five me on your way out. I'm the 6' loud guy in the bar corner probably. Not sure of my favorite, but all are comfort food for me. Pollo Ahogado, Quesabirria tacos, Churipollo, Molcajete and chili Verda, just off my head. Take it from the foodie gringo. Try something out of your normal food routine. Why pay 10.50 for crap window food that leaves you empty and mad. Put a few bucks more down and have some real meat and veg. Tacos as big as a hand grenade. WITH REAL MEAT MOM!!Love it and the peep. It's 12 on Saturday. Now I'm hungry. See ya there foo ! Nice relaxing place!!
