My family was in town for the weekend and this place was recommended by our Airbnb hosts so we decided to try it out. We arrived at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon and our group of 10 was seated right away which was nice. The inside of the restaurant is not super big, so keep that in mind if you are bringing a larger group. There was only one server/bartender working. She kept a bar of 4-5 people, plus our table and 2 other tables occupied during our visit. I was impressed by her quick service given that she was the only one working the floor. I ordered the fried mushrooms appetizer which was huge and delicious with the horsey sauce. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp po boy with the corn chowder. Unfortunately, the bun was huge and yet totally soggy from the sauce so I was unable to eat it like a sandwich. The corn chowder was tasty. Although, it seemed like more of a stew than a chowder. This restaurant is directly on the lake and gives you a great view of the lake throughout your meal. I have no doubt this place is packed during the summer months given its location. I would recommend to anyone staying near heritage lake for a relaxed lunch or hangout spot.

I thought things would improve with time, but unfortunately not much has changed.Service: Still not up to par. Pretty slow and everyone seems like they don't want to be there. Getting refills is a hit or miss. The whole place seems to be run by students. Never seen a manager or a more professional staff member walking around.Food: This has taken the biggest hit for me. Everything I've ordered has been cooked from frozen. Things are frequently cold and I'm pretty iffy on any meat. I've tried so many things from burgers, chicken, tacos, meatball sub... the meat is always funky in some way. Although I've always enjoyed the sides, buns, Mac and cheese, fruit, etc. Also, bring back brunch!! That was my favorite and I was upset to see it's no more.Overall I still come back because of the convenience. Really it's the price you pay if you're a Heritage Lake resident, plus the beautiful views. Perfect place to take family and friends when they visit, but I leave embarrassed by the overall experience each time.

Went here with my husband's family, and after a rocky start, ended up leaving full and satisfied. We were seated upstairs and after 20 minutes still hadn't been talked to by a server or given waters. Other tables were being served so we were confused and getting a little frustrated. After flagging down a waiter we finally were able to get our orders in. We were then informed that they were short staffed for that day after a couple of no-call, no-shows. Understandable, except it just would have been nice to be acknowledged while waiting and seeing the waiter take another tables drink order that was seated after us and then just leave was confusing. Having said that, the food was soo good! I had the BYO Mac and got it with pulled pork, tater tots, and bacon with a side of the hot honey brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were delicious, though less "hot honey" than I was expecting. The Mac and cheese was really creamy and and the meat had just the right amount of crispy smokeyness that I was looking for. Husband had the Caesar salad and said it was really tasty. Everyone had good things to say about their food as well. And to top it off, the view and atmosphere was really great. As I said we sat upstairs outside under some canopies that provided shade and had a lovely view of the lake and had a nice breeze. So all in all it was a good visit and I recommend going there.

We have tried to eat here several times and it just keeps getting worse. The service is terrible, no one is in charge and it's ran by a bunch of kids who just sit around on their phones or talking to each other instead of waiting on customers. Sahms should be ashamed of this restaurant to be part of their chain.

By now, it's no secret that I'm a fan of any restaurant that has the Sahm name attached to it. Sahm equates to quality food, comfortable customer service, a winning atmosphere, and an overall good time. Sahm's Haven is one of the more unique spaces within the Sahm's universe. It's located in the marina at Heritage Lake, a decent-sized unincorporated community in Floyd Township, Putnam County here in Indiana. This lake community has a population of approximately 2,880 people and is an easy drive away from Danville, Greencastle, and other nearby western Indiana cities. This is a relatively small location, however, it's an ideal size really and it's quite beautiful sitting lakeside on Heritage Lake. Heritage Lake is really a perfect combination of country living and urban access as it's really only a modest commute to Indy. My parents have lived at Heritage Lake for around 30 years. My visit to Sahm's Haven was inspired by sadness, however, as I was in Putnam County for my mother's funeral in nearby Coatesville. After the funeral, a few of us gathered at Sahm's to share a meal. If you know my Yelp story, you know that my initial Yelp membership was inspired by the death by suicide of a friend and my need to find an activity and immerse myself in a community. So, I had to laugh a little when I realized that on the day of my mother's funeral I would be snagging a Yelp review and apparently even getting a "First." This Sahm's has a nice paved parking lot with plentiful accessible parking. The level to the ground sidewalk offers easy access to the restaurant with a glass door entry. The dining area is bright and allows in the sunlight. I arrived a few minutes after everyone else. My father had decided not to join us and I stayed back to make sure he was okay since I've lost both my brother and mother in the past year and it is now only he and I left. I never did get our server's name. She was a delightful young woman - a student at IU - Bloomington whose service was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout. Every staff member I met was wonderful and I laughed about the fact Eddie (Sahm) wasn't there since he seems to show up everywhere. The tables are easily made accessible. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The menu is fairly typical Sahm's, though perhaps a bit lighter. They have a nice bar menu including the Big Lug brews. I was tempted, but I wanted to avoid grief drinking so resisted. I ordered a smash burger and held the cheese. I also ordered tater tots - they are the official food of grief. The burger was a behemoth - I mean, seriously. It was well cooked and almost more than I could eat. The tater tots were perhaps a tad less hot than I'd prefer, but still a delightful addition to the meal. I was stuffed when I left. I didn't hear a negative comment from anyone - the food was delicious and the service was top-notch. Several people who'd commuted were given drinks for the road and refills were offered. I take my iced tea seriously and was grateful for that refill. Sahm's is always modestly priced - typically in the $15-20 range for meals without alcohol. It's a reasonable price for a terrific, relaxing meal. They have an accessible restroom, as well. Sahm's Haven is a unique yet warm and welcoming addition to the Heritage Lake Community and I will easily return when I'm in the area. They have a beautiful lakeside location and a building that offers warmth, welcome, sunlight, and beautiful views. Open just over a month, Sahm's Haven is yet another stellar addition to the Sahm's family of restaurants.

The wife and I went on a Saturday night before the Indy 500. We waited an hour and half to get our appetizer, and two-hours to receive our food. The food was really good and the waitress kept our drinks filled and kept us updated in our food. Due to our wait, our bill was discounted nicely. Will be back due to the hospitality and understanding of frustration of waiting.

Didn't even know there was a restaurant here until our friends suggested it so didn't know what to expect. Wow. Such a cute restaurant right by Heritage Lake boat ramp. Both inside and outdoor seating but was still a little chilly so sat inside. Several options on menu that works with my low carb lifestyle. I got the smashed burger with no bun and brussel sprouts. Was very tasty. Husband got bbq brisket and said it was good. They did put a bun on my burger so I took it off. Was toasted and thick. Prices reasonable. Also had a sign posted that on Mondays they have a special on their tenderloins for $10. May have to go back on a Monday to try it out. Very clean, staff super friendly. Parking lot and boat ramp very clean and nicely kept. Will definitely go back.
