This is a tidy little restaurant that has a lot to go for it. Food is mostly North Indian and with a sprinkling of Indo -Chinese dishes thrown in - try Cauliflower Manchurian! Dishes as sumptuous and there is always more to take home. All the dishes are authentic Indian such as you would get in an Indian home kitchen. Truly a delight.

The food at Saffron is fantastic! Hands down some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Fresh, flavorful, spicy and delicious. Our dinner club dined tonight. We had reservations in the newly opened restaurant in Zionsville. Our table was ready in their small dining room. The menu is diverse with a great selection of vegetarian options and non-vegetarian. We each ordered an entree and shared a bit. All entrees came with Basmati rice. Portions are generous. The Garlic Naan is incredible. The bread is fresh made and the garlicky buttery spices are fabulous. Best naan ever. I ordered the Bhindi Masala (fried okra with spices) which came with basmati rice. The okra was flavorful with lots of onions, tomato and Indian spices. My husband had the Tandoori Shrimp which was a colorful dish of large flavorful shrimp and a mix of vegetables and spices. The shrimp was a bit spicy hot (which I loved). My favorite dish was the Malai Kofta composed of paneer and potato dumplings in the most delicious creamy spicy cashew sauce. I could eat this all day. The service is friendly and kept water glasses full. The dining room is small - maybe 10 tables that filled quickly. We made reservations. There is no alcohol. Water, sodas and lemonade, lassi and tea. They do a robust carry out. I'm anxious to try everything on the menu.

I've done both eat-in and carry-out, and each time the food was flavorful, had just the right amount of spice (we do medium), and was plentiful. The number of vegetarian and vegan options are impressive, and they removed nuts for me (allergy) from dishes that commonly come with nuts. Super happy to have an Indian restaurant in Zionsville, and ecstatic that their food is delicious. (In-house service, too, was great)

Today is July 12th, 2024 and it's the grand opening of Saffron Indian restaurant in Zionsville!! Let me tell you, it's about time!!! We love Indian cuisine and it's finally down the road from our home. So far they don't have alcohol but I'm sure that will change down the road. The food was great!!! We ordered Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken and garlic Nan. We also ordered a coke that was starting to freeze ( kinda nice actually). The Nan was huge and was great for wiping up the delicious curry. The korma was kinda sweet. You could taste hints of raisin in it. The Butter chicken was savory and both dishes soaked up the basmati rice to perfection. They also offer spice levels 1-10, we opted for a 7 but we'll go higher next. I'm definitely returning to Saffron and I wish them all the success for years to come.

Four of us met tonight at Saffron's on Oak Street in Zionsville. This was the first time here for all 4 of us. There's lots of parking, including handicapped parking, in the strip center parking lot. Saffron's isn't a humongous restaurant but has many four top tables. They offer a lunch and dinner menu along with most of the favorite appetizers and entrees we're all familiar with. They offer most meats, including goat, lamb and mutton, and seafood specialties. Many vegetarian specialties and fried rices are also options.I usually order one of the 3 types of spicy potatoes (Aloo) as my appetizer. Tonight, I ordered the Aloo Tikki Chaat appetizer. These are spiced potatoes served in patty form (Chaat) and topped with chutney and yogurt. I meant to order the Aloo Tikki with spices and herbs on the diced potatoes that are served crispy and crusty. They remind me of roasted diced potatoes. Another version of their spicy potatoes is the Dahi Puri, which are mini, crispy shells filled spiced potatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, and chutney. All three are delicious. The other appetizers ordered were the Plain Naan and two orders of the Garlic Naan. The Papadum, 4 thin, crispy lentil wafers spiced with cumin and black pepper were also ordered, which can be a side dish or appetizer. The same individual ordered the mixed pickles and fruit, which wasn't well received by the table due to the harsh aroma and taste, as Saffron describes, vibrant and tangy spices. If I remember correctly, the other appetizer was the tender, Chicken Pakora with chicken in a spiced batter and deep fried. Everyone shared the appetizers, except the Mixed Pickles. I ordered the extremely tender Buttered Chicken for my entree, cooked in a wonderful, creamy spiced tomato and butter sauce. This is a well-known Indian favorite, even for those who don't care for most Indian dishes. I often order two orders of garlic naan so I can dip naan in this delicious Buttered Chicken sauce. Leftovers never go uneaten, and both the sauce and naan reheat well. The second entree was the Gobi Manchurian, which is a battered and fried cauliflower (gobi) dish served in a tangy and flavorful sauce of peppers, onions, and soya. The third entree was the Chicken Palak, which is tender sautéed chicken with flavorful creamed spinach. The last entree was a one pot meal of mutton biryani with basmati rice, aromatic spices, and herbs. I have never been able to bring myself to sample lamb, so Bob cut me a tiny piece of his mutton. I was warned that mutton is an older lamb with a stringer piece of meat and a stronger flavor than a tender, milder flavor of younger lamb. I did not care for the mutton for the same reasons I was warned about. Bob, on the other hand, enjoyed it very much. Our server was friendly, listened carefully, answered questions, and the others kept water glasses filled, and used dishes removed from the very full table. Requested carry out containers, and our bill arrived and returned quickly.I would highly recommend Saffrons if you're in the area. We all enjoyed our dinner and left very full with containers of leftovers for lunch the next day.

Walked in and were seated immediately. We ordered chicken biryani, chicken tikki masala and garlic naan. Everything was very flavorful and good portion size. Lacking on decorations but will not stop me from coming back. Next time we will try a few new dishes.

Oh yum! First visit to Saffron and surely not the last. The restaurant itself is quite small, but packed with delicious smells and happy customers. Our party of 5 was seated immediately on a busy Saturday night and service was quick and friendly. Everyone in our group ordered different dishes at different spice levels, and we were all more than satisfied! Even the few of us who were sweating a little were happy about it! The garlic naan was delicious, the appetizer platter excellent, and I ordered their butter chicken, as I've not experienced a lot of Indian cuisine before, and loved it! Will definitely mix it up next time with my choice, and level up the spices. Super excited to be within walking distance of Saffron!

You can smell the curries from the parking lot. Delicious. Located in a little strip mall, this place seems to do a lot of carry out business. However, it is also a rather nice place to dine in. The tables and the settings are really nice. Love the gold 'silver'ware. Your water will always be refilled by the time you're not even halfway through it. The menu is quite extensive with quite a few options I had not seen before. Of course I can't remember the names of most dishes, but let's just say, no one in our group had any complaints. Well, one exception. The side order of pickled veggies was quite overpowering and I don't think most American tastebuds are ready for that. The garlic naan was absolutely delicious, as was the butter chicken and the lamb byriani. I had the chicken appetizer, like fried nuggets but better. Someone had the stuffed potato patties, which I will definitely order next visit. I tried the Gobi Manchurian, which was presented beautifully and was very tasty. Didn't have a whole lot of sauce with it, I would have like more of that so I could cover my rice with it.The prices are very reasonable and the portions are quite generous. Everyone at our table had to take boxes home. What a great little place.

I was very excited for the opening of this new Indian restaurant in Zionsville. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and modern. I loved the marble wall look and the fine dining feel. Their prices are a little higher than most Indian restaurant but I think they are going for a more fine dining Indian so the prices would follow that. There is a lunch special menu which we ordered off of. We ordered the paneer tikka masala and butter naan to go. It did take about 20 minutes for them to make our food but they were very nice while we waited and let us sit at a table and brought us water. The butter naan is the best naan I've very tasted. It was large and warm and very fresh. The paneer tikka masala was delicious. I am looking forward to coming back here again with my husband for a date night.

Loved my food. I've been waiting for it to open and for a chance to go. You really can smell the place from the streets and I have been wanting to go since it opened. My chicken tikka masala was delicious and the garlic naan was awesome.Everyone was very friendly and the place was packed. We got there just in time to get a table- so I know next time to get there early or maybe try calling ahead if that's possible. And there will be a next time.
