Rye Bar

Stopped in the Rye Bar for a night cap and although the bar was stacked, Dennis the bartender was one funny and knowledgeable dude. He spoke my level Japanese which is almost zero but was a fun character and excellent barOur group consisted of individuals with a taste of good bourbon and the Rye Bar's inventory included some tasty and exceptional examples. The concern now is the Coach will on the trail to find the ones we tried and make them part of his impressive collection. The bar is located on the lobby level of the Marriott Downtown Indianapolis and was very busy but the bartenders did a fantastic job at filling the orders. The Rye Bar is rated as a highly recommended bar to quench your thirst.

Is this just you average hotel bar? No sir!Master mixologists who not only know their craft, but are at the top of their game run this place!It's so new I can't wait to come back again and again and see what their genius mixologist minds come up with next. However, if classic is your game, I had the best old fashioned here! They make and infused their own simple syrup... I no longer think hotel bars are for out of towners only.... See you there Indy friends! You won't regret it.

The bar is nice with lots of extra seeing outside of it. We had an old fashioned which was strong. We also had the peanut butter pretzel pie which was to die for! Large slices with creamy peanut butter cream, chocolate drizzle, and the crust was a pretzel blend that tasted almost like toffee. Very good!! The piece was so big my husband and I split!

You're asking where is the Rye Bar? Never heard of it? It is located in the newly redesigned Indianapolis Marriott Downtown off Maryland. As you enter the lobby it sits almost directly across from the lobby entrance. The hotel is lovely regardless of where you visit. If time permits browse the gorgeous hotel lobby, lounges, bar and restaurants.The Rye Bar is beautiful and a very comfortable place to hang out with a cocktail or glass of wine. They pride themselves in being fluent in Whiskey so if your a whiskey drinker check them out for sure. I was here as part of a Yelp event where we devoured scrumptious cake donuts. I personally didn't order a cocktail but the atmosphere is laid back and a nice spot to unwind. I could see popping in here for drinks before dinner or after work with a few friends. There are several cozy chairs in the lounge area to snuggle into for good conversations.I'm glad the Rye Bar was part of our Yelp event as I had no idea this gorgeous bar was even here. You don't have to be a tourists to take advantage of these fantastic restaurants and bars inside the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown. Bookmark then for your next visit downtown.

I love this place, and I think if you don't know that it's here you would miss it. It's located in the JW Marriott downtown across from the convention center. It's dark modern speak easy rolled into one.I visited the bar to attend a bourbon class, and I learned a lot! A break down of the "why" with what goes into an old fashioned, then some samples.We also learned the proper way to shake a mixed drink in one of the double cupped shakers, and how to get them to release from each other.After that station we visited the fruit station and learned proper fruit cutting techniques, and I didn't loose a finger which is the most important.I loved that it was just us in the bar enjoying the class and learning. I decided to hang out after and enjoy an old fashioned, I can make them. But it's just better when someone does it for you. Very tasty and made to my liking. We even got awesome swag bags and a special on the rye bar woodford reserve barrel. Awesome class and place!

THIS IS the NEW HOT SPOT!! Put it on your radar if you love creative cocktails and a fantastic staff. If you haven't tried it yet you are really missing out. Bartenders Jacob and Shelby are mix masters and have developed some of the best drinks I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Cute, spunky Harley adds a wonderful flair to the trio. All three are charismatic and top notch!Located in the newly reorganized space at the Marriott you will not be disappointed with the flair and ambiance. Just across from the convention center and next to the government buildings, has so much to offer. I loved both the bar seating and the lounge area. Personally I greatly preferred this location to some of the other, too-busy poorly serviced craft cocktail locations that people flock to in Indy. The vibe here was laid back and sophisticated. A step up from the others! If you are feeling a little Mad Men-ish may I suggest Don Draper's favorite drink, the Old Fashion. I loved the Man Over Board with its twist on an old classic. For a really big treat order the Cherry Blossom--let it's bloom quench your thirst desire as it goes down smooth and melts your insides. It was incredible.

We came here as part of a Yelp event. We tried the Rye Bar's take on an Old Fashioned. I have to say I was excited when I heard this because it is one of my favorite drinks. It is a drink where the details matter so I was a little disappointed when they were served in plastic cups with crushed ice. I do, however, completely understand that there were a lot of us and this was easier to serve. The flavor was very good. I will just have to come back and try it again!We also tried the pretzel peanut pie. This was absolutely delicious. I had wished I wasn't so full when we got here because I wanted to eat more of the pie!

Be ready to be charged more than the menu pricing. We ordered, and enjoyed 2 bourbons. When I got the check, we were charged $5 more for 1 and $3 more for the other. The explanation I got from the bartender was that they charge more when bourbon is ordered neat because they give a bigger pour. I'm not a bourbon regular, but this doesn't seem right to me. I paid my bill with a 20% tip, but I won't be back to this establishment.

The Rye whiskey selection is extensive. Did not eat but a great hotel bar in the downtown (not JW) Marriott.

First of all Jacob Harley n Shelby are the bomb dot com. Great hospitality and vey personable. Our yelp event was great. We learned stirring shaking how to use the peeler and the thingy that makes the thin twists. If you happen to go get the new old fashioned or the cherry blossom (Jacob's signature). I'll def be back!!!
