This restaurant is located on the outskirt of the Fairfield Inn back parking lot. It is located in the building that use to be the old Scotty's Brewhouse. This is a restaurant and banquet hall that is available to rent. The restaurant has a decent sized dining area to the left as you enter. They have booths and a television paying Indian music videos. You will find a bar area and the banquet hall to the right as you enter the restaurant. They serve some Indian favorites, and I had to look up what they were before I ordered. I was all in on the Indian food and ordered a full ethnic meal. I stared with potato pakora with a sweet lassi to wash it down. I got a Seekh Kebab for my main course and a rice kheer, to-go, for dessert. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food and it was fresh and hot. It came with three sauces, with the tomato one being my favorite. The Kebab came out sizzling like a fajita. I will admit that Indian food is an acquired taste and if you are not familiar with Indian food, such as I, then you are going in blind. My food was good. It was spicy, but not too spicy. I went with the medium heat, hot would have proably been too much for me. The potato pakora was decent. It was slightly bland, but the sauces really made it better. The lassi was very smooth and had a milk feel and a rice taste.I ate my dessert later and it was good. It was rice in a milky substance. The guy that was my server was very friendly, patient, helpful and attentive. I enjoyed my lunch here. This is a decent spot to catch a bite of authentic Indian food

Very bland. Service was just water and bread. First plate removal and check given. No offer of additional bread or water.

This slightly out of the way we're Indian restaurant was a fun place to try on a Friday night. The parking lot is ample if a bit potholed, but there are plenty of parking spots close to the doors. Once you e tee there is a smaller restaurant area and a larger event area. A hostess immediately greeted us and showed us to a table for 4. They have tables and booths, and even though the room is not super large there are spaces for larger parties as well as smaller groups. We were given nicely bound menus which were extensive and everyone perused for a bit. We were served drinks quite quickly and throughout the meal continued to be served water which we highly appreciated. We were also given some roti and a serving of three sauces - tomato and onion, a green chutney and a red/brown sweeter sauce. We were able to enjoy those while waiting for our orders. They have a huge variety of dishes with vegetarian as well as meat and plenty of breads and desserts. I stick with my favorite eggplant and it came with a side of naan bread! We also got gobi Manchuria as an appetizer which was smaller bites of perfectly fried and seasoned cauliflower. It was almost the best I've ever had and I have tried it a lot! My husband got the Chana saag which was flavorful and plenty. He wanted to try another dish next time to branch out but figured a favorite was good as a first try.We were pleasantly surprised by the portion sizes for the cost and had quite a bit of rice leftover from our meal. It was definitely worth checking out and we will be back! We enjoyed the service and attention to flavors, and felt our friends who don't often enjoy ethic foods were able to find dishes they enjoyed as well which is a great plus!If you haven't tried this spot it is worth it, and you can find a lot of tasty dishes for any palate.

I had a craving for Indian food and since I was eating solo for dinner, it was the perfect time to try Royal Indian which recently opened in the old Scotty's Brewhouse in Southport. I ordered through DoorDash but I got my food quickly. Everything was still hot and my order was correct.I started with the vegetable samosas. They were huge! They were filled with potatoes and peas. For my entree, I had the chana masala. It was super flavorful and not overly spicy. The rice and naan were delicious too. To feel better about myself, I added the cucumber salad to get some vegetables in. The green sauce on the side was fantastic too.Everything was really reasonably priced and the portion sizes were big. I had enough leftover for lunch the next day and then some.

We decided to try a new restaurant tonight and so glad that we did! It wasn't very busy, so at first we were concerned that it wouldn't be good -- BOY were we wrong! The papadum was great, the chutneys were so yummy! We also ordered the vegetable pakora platter which was absolutely delicious. I don't even like samosas and really enjoyed the one that came on the platter! For dinner we ordered the tandoori chicken and the goat biryani. I really enjoyed that you could choose the spice level of both dishes! I was very pleased with it!I'd be glad to go back!

Royal Indian is a fairly new restaurant located among the cluster of hotels off of Southport Road. Not only do they have the restaurant side but a huge 200 seat banquet hall which can be seen as you enter. My friend and I came for lunch yesterday. When we arrived at 12:30 we were the only ones there. Lunch is served Monday through Sunday 11:00 - 3:00 and Dinner 4:30 - 10:00 Monday through Sunday. Both of us were happy we tried Royal Indian. The large, diverse menu is reasonably priced with generous servings and our server was attentive and friendly. If you're a vegetarian, you'll find almost a full page of choices.Beer and Wine is served along with Coke products, Lassi's, Mango Shake, Teas and juice. We started with the Chicken Pakora and Potato Pakora Appetizers. Eight pieces of tender chicken are dipped in garam/chick pea flour and deep fried. The Potatoes are prepared the same way. They were served with a generous portion of Tandoori Sauce, Spicy Diced Tomatoes and a lovely Green Spicy Sauce. Both appetizers were good and surprisingly not greasy. Each entree is served with rice and Plain Naan. We choose to pay the $1 per Naan upcharge for Garlic Naan. It is so worth it!! The large Garlic Naan is tender with slightly crispy edges and absolutely delicious. Each entree can be prepared to your own spice palate with 5 different levels to select from mild to extra-hot. Extra-hot is hot but not to the point you can't taste the flavors. My friend ordered the delicious Chicken Makhni #73 with Tandoori boneless chicken cooked in butter with mild spices. She went with the medium heat level and was very pleased with the level of spice.I ordered the tasty Chicken Tikka Marsala #72 cooked with onions, tomato sauce in medium spices. I went with the extra-hot spice level which I enjoyed.Even though we were full dessert was ordered. We each had Rice Kheer similar to a cold rice pudding and the phenomenal Gulab Jamun which is a sweet ball made from milk essence and soaked in honey syrup. Don't pass on the Gulab Jamun since it's just 3 small balls and even stuffed they easily disappear and aren't a heavy dessert. As aforementioned, we were extremely pleased with every aspect of our visit. It was strange being the only customer but hopefully with time, and good reviews, more folks will find their way to Royal Indian.

This restaurant is standard Indian in America. You can get things made spicier if you ask, which is a relief for those of us tired of Indian food catered to the American palate. The veg appetizer was delicious, the poppodum were crisp and served with flavorful chutneys ; onion, mint/cilantro, tamarind. I had the goat biryani which was okay, not the run of the mill mumbai style. The chicken tikka was perfect. The service was great and the waiter kept our glasses filled.

This is a delicious option for Indian food on the Southside of Indianapolis. The parking lot could use some repair. But that is no indication of the interior. When you enter the restaurant you will notice an extensive banquet hall on the right and the restaurant on the left. I have dined here 2x and it is very clean with great service. There are several options on the menu and I have not been disappointed.

Absolute dog water service. Server (female) didn't ask if I wanted anything just sat me down and filled my water. Walked around on here earbuds and talked on phone. Guess I didn't want a beverage, napkin, refill of water, etc. she barely spoke and acted mad when I asked for ice for my water. Would never go back. Place was empty. Food was typical Indian buffet but less items. Wouldn't go back and not sure how it's open when it's empty at 1pm.
