Roots Burger Bar

I had high expectations going into this restaurant for my first visit, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Our server misunderstood my order despite my clarification and brought the wrong side dish. When I politely requested the correct item, she informed me that I would need to pay extra, even though the incorrect dish had just arrived and remained untouched. I then asked if she could simply exchange it for the fries I originally ordered, which she eventually did, though with noticeable frustration.Later that day, I was shocked to find a photo of my colleagues' and my meal receipts on social media, accompanied by an offensive caption directed at us as students. Which read (Fuck these students) Our names, receipts, and even partial credit card information were publicly displayed. For anyone concerned about privacy and quality service, I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment.The experience was further marred by an unfriendly hostess and an unwelcoming atmosphere--one that felt especially uncomfortable as a young Black woman. In 2025, we deserve better than this.

We stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We got to sit outside and enjoy the weather, which was wonderful! The patio had a lot of bees, but it was manageable.Our service was fine. I don't think our server originally knew we had been sat, but once he found us it was good.I had the bbq chicken salad and it was great. It originally looked a little small but it was dense! I left full and happy :)

OK, so I went back and gave Roots another try. They definitely redeemed theirselves. I sat at the bar again like I did the last time and I got good service. There was also a man behind the bar loading up beer that told me I should try the burger of the month. I tried the burger of the month last time and that was what failed me, but this time I took his suggestion and I tried it again. The burger of the month was Oktoberfest Dad Bod Brat Burger! This was a brat smash burger topped with horseradish, Havarti, grilled peppers and onions, and smeared with beer cheese served on a pretzel bun with horseradish mustard. This was a sloppy burger, one I would consider a knife and fork burger. This burger was delicious and juicy and I would definitely place this order again! I had the tater tots again. They were good last time. I had a cocktail that was called Indiana Cherry Bomb and it was Four Roses bourbon, infused cherries, and cherry Coke, I really like this drink.Everything was not perfect, but miles from the last experience I had in this burger bar. The part that was not perfect I wanted to try their other drink of the month which was a Pink Warrior and they could not make it because they did not have the cotton candy in stock yet. It was the first day of the month which started the new specials. A friend let me know that they have really good coney dogs there and I love a good coney dog so I will definitely be going back to give that a try.So happy to have tried Roots Burger Bar again.

Was in town for the 4th of July so I decided to check out Roots as I had been a Scotty's fan for years and this is the next restaurant he has opened. First loved the free popcorn and outdoor seating. Luckily it was great weather. Service was promp and the menu offered a lot of good choices. I was in the mood for seafood so decided to try the fried fish and coleslaw. It was very good. Tasted great could tell it was hand breaded and beer battered. Excellent coleslaw came with it as a choice of side or you could get fries. Overall great time and really enjoyed Roots.

Great burger selection -- both our burgers were borderline perfect. seasoned fries are excellent! service was friendly and attentive, chill atmosphere. 10/10 will be back.

I have reviewed this bar before and I always have a great experience here. Scott the owner is an amazing person. I can tell he really cares about the quality of the food he makes. This is my absolute favorite bar in Muncie. I've been working in the restaurant business for almost 10 years and this food and menu is exceptional. If I had the chance to work here I would. I'm a kitchen manager now, but I have been a cook for most of my life. My favorite is the PB&J burger, it's nice and juicy the seasonings on the burger are phenomenal. The service is always great for me and my wife. As a resident of Muncie, I will never stop saying great things about this business. God Bless.

BUSY, service was a bit unpredictable. Food? Meh, it's nothing special. I was there decades ago, over the years since college it's changed, probably for the better because now you don't have to sit on plywood benches near the plexiglass front windows. Oh, beer selection is much better now vs then

The food was great. Service was pretty good, just a booming expensive place. If you have a pretty big family, I don't recommend coming here, but overall, great place!It's pretty pricy on the small things!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I ate here at 8:47pm today and our Waitress Kendall gave us nothing but attitude the entire time. she proceed to bring out the wrong food and got mad at us. Towards the end my brother asked for a Military discount she said "he must be in uniform to get the discount as if he was lying" but he had his military card in hand ready to show. It gets better. she thought she was going to get a 5 star TIP. she proceed to take a picture of our Recipe with first and last name plus card numbers and post on social media saying "FUCK my organization" mind Im black and a student on campus. Now my Name and Card # has hit social media. I'm sending all this to corporate!

Best burger I've had in years. It was spicy and flavorful. Good conversation with the bartender and perfect atmosphere.
