Root & Bone is everything you want on a cold winter night--warm, inviting, and downright delicious. From the moment you step inside, the cozy decor sets the mood, and the friendly staff makes you feel right at home.I'm a sucker for a cocktail with egg white, and Root & Bone never disappoints! One of our favorite Indy spots!

Update: Our entrees arrived and we had held out hope but the salad was soggy, swimming in dressing and the grilled peaches lacked flavor. The shrimp and grits were acidic and lukewarm warm. The flavor of the dish was not balanced as it was so acidic it made the flavor of the cooked shrimp taste rancid. Also, the egg on the grits was not over medium. I had asked for an over medium egg with the whites fully cooked, meaning absolutely no liquid white egg whites. This translated to the over easy egg with white cut away however the whites that remained around the yolk were still runny. So, I just put the egg on the rim and tried both dishes. Our waitress came over and asked about our dishes and I expressed my disappointment. She hurried away and had the manager come to the table. The manager was polite and offered to comp our appetizers and offered 1/2 chicken. I accepted this offer. The 1/2 chicken arrived and looked crispy but was not hot, it was warm and the chicken was crispy. I hate the leg and it was flavored well. However upon the picking up the second piece, a breast, I pulled off some crisp breading and a long human hair was firmly in the crisp batter. My husband motioned to the manager who looked at the piece with the hair, and instantly appeared embarrassed. We had a nice conversation but ultimately we chose not to try anything else. The manager did comp our entire bill and I can't express enough that the waitstaff is very attentive and this review is specific to the food alone. Initial review: We ordered the "blt" and deviled eggs as appetizers, we have t even gotten our meals yet but these are so awful I have to provide a review. The deviled eggs are lacking depth of taste and are rubber tasting and the "blt" which is made with a fried green tomato's with pork belly, tomato relish and pimento cheese.... There's nothing nice to say about this as the tomato relish is so heavy you can't taste anything else and the bacon is so chewy and not palatable. Immensely disappointing! The watermelon cocktail is tart but palatable so I gave a star. The service is good which was a bonus for this highly priced, lack luster tasting food, wish I could give one rating for staff and another for food.

Been here a few times now and still an enjoyable night to dine here. Ample parking across the street too. Started with drunken deviled eggs, they were enjoyable but the white yolk was hard, kinda rubbery this time compared to the last time we had it. Main course: Can't really go wrong with their R&B famous fried chicken, of course, the whole one. Got the 12 oz ribeye, decent taste, but not as good as before when I first had it. Wifey and guest had the Mac & cheese and green bean, both enjoyed theirs. Service was great as usual and just a nice place to dine in. But for some reason, the egg and steak weren't as good as the last time. Would still come back for their chicken though and will try their other entrees next time. The beer sampling was good so you can choose the right one to enjoy the night. Overall, I would have given a 5 start if the experience was from our previous visit, but for tonight, it wasn't as good.

Excellent atmosphere, service, and food. Greatly appreciate a restaurant that still accepts reservations, especially on a weekend. We ended up sitting at the bar and Rick, the bartender, was spot on with recommendations and prompt/polite service. He was attentive, but not hovering. The chicken biscuits look like something from chick fila, however the tastes of honey, pickled onions and peppers, take it to another level. The brisket "meatloaf" was another great choice. Very basic brisket, but the flavors of the potatoes and veggies that accompanied it was top notch!

Root and Bone is such a wonderful surprise to the Indy food scene. I was so impressed by our bartender/server who spoke with such confidence with menu items- NONE of which disappointed! The duck, omg the duck, was absolutley incredible. The eggs, while beautiful, were a bit too mustard forward for my preference. The brulee corn and angel biscuits were a definite must. Everything from the decor and cocktails, to the service and lighting were a 10/10. I can't wait to make the trip up to Indy again to make it back!!

Stopped for Sunday brunch. Had the BLT fried green tomatoes and American roots platter with a Bloody Mary. Both were very good. Quick service sitting at the bar. Great place for a meal when in the area.

Constantly looking for interesting restaurants to eat we stumbled on this restaurant. It was filled to capacity when we walked in but the vibes were excellent. We arrived an hour early but the hostess did great job finding a table within 25 minutes to our surprise. Our waitress Imani took great care of us from the time we sat at the table. She answered all of our questions and made us feel like we were family. This place has a southern flare to it. That being said I ordered fried chicken and Mac n cheese. The chicken came with a spicy hot sauce and honey that took the fried chicken to another level. I ate all 4 pieces with ease! I saved room for dessert and ordered the Southern Pecan Pie with whip cream. A meal fit for a king! It wasn't too sweet but very tasty! Without question a fantastic evening we will certainly return to check out some of the other entries.

Two of us went for a Saturday brunch. The biscuits were amazing and the peach burrata salad was fairly good, not over dressed but needed more beach( there were only a few small bits. We both had the chicken and waffles. The fried chicken is really good and paired well with the thick fluffy waffles. Service from a new server was a bit challenging but she was nice and they thoughtfully gave us a small bill reduction to make up for the minor serving issues. We've been for dinner as well and would definitely recommend it now for both dinner and lunch.

Love this menu! We ate at the bar and it was amazing. I had the meatloaf which was awesome. My daughter had salmon, and it was not a small piece! The mash potatoes were great but let's discuss the biscuits. The biscuits were really out of this world good. And the wedge salad was outstanding and enough for two or a meal in itself! Definitely coming back. Might be my favorite Indy restaurant.
