I was told that the Rocky Ripple Festival is like a big festival for hippies, and I have to say that the person who told me that was right! So many hippies! And I mean this in the very best way. I was seriously like, "Where are all these people coming from, and why do I never see them in other places around Indianapolis?" There is so much diversity represented at Rocky Ripple Festival, and it is so awesome. This yearly festival is really laid back, and when I visited in 2017, there was live local music, food trucks, games for kids, local vendors and businesses, and other neat stuff representing Indy. This festival is very kid-friendly -- there is a playground area and sandy pit for them to play in. There was also an area where kids could play with instruments, and another area to pet goats. I know! Goats. The Rocky Ripple Festival usually happens in the early part of September, but check their website for actual dates and times.
