A buddy and I were going to a show at the Hi FI, which is basically right next door. We were looking for something close, quick and casual and boy did we choose right! The atmosphere was perfect - just a small bar with plenty of open seating, a menu that had some variety but not overwhelming, and the server was as nice and helpful as could be.The beer menu was of interest to my friend, as he enjoys craft beers more than I - he was impressed and ordered several :) I had a fruited sour that was good but not great. My fault, I was experimenting.I ordered the fish and chips and loved them. Friend had scotch egg appetizer (no way was I touching that) and a burger. Loved all of his choices as well.Price was right, and the food good enough that I asked if I could bring the kids in there - it's going on my list when the family is in Indy for shows or events. All in all a great experience, and highly recommend if you're in the Fountain Square area.

Did you know 4% ABV stouts exist? They're as mediocre as they sound. After an unsuccessful entry elsewhere in the area, I found myself staring down the barrel of British cuisine. Hearty fare is a friend of mine, yet this one is chalked up as a loss. Hungry enough to maintain my clean plate club membership, sober enough to not mistake that for excellence. Onion ring garnishes only get you so far in palate pleasing.Volume was weird here. A medley of sound check and sitting way too close to the "stage" proved a muddied mess of conversation. Stretched between homey and ornery is a gray area I'm not rushing back towards anytime soon.

Their bagels are actually fire. The everything with cream cheese is my go to but the BEC looks nice as well, a bit thicker bagel than some others in the area.

One of my favorite places for fish and chips. They are consistently delicious. Red Lion gives off Irish/English vibes with dishes like bangers and mash, Shepherds pie, scotch eggs and fish & chips, but they also have a large assortment of burgers and sandwiches. It's right in the middle of Fountain Square. Service has been solid each time as well.

Somehow we are always in Fountain Square but had never tried before! We went on a weeknight and it was surprisingly packed. Turns out it was trivia night and was SO fun! The setup makes it feel a bit crowded when busy, but there is plenty of seating options. I ordered the chipotle bbq wings and the house made ranch was incredible. We also got the mozzarella sticks & a tenderloin -- both were pretty good! Drinks and all food options were very fairly priced!

Service was great and the food came out quickly for our dinner party of 8. This was an after work team event. I liked the dive bar feel but the food was lackluster. We shared Scotch Eggs and wings for the table. Tiny wings a bit over fried with sauces on the side. This was my first time trying the eggs and I liked them but didn't love them. I'm a fan of hard boiled eggs but I wasn't so sure about the fried sausage and bread crumbs. The server suggested fish & chips so I got that. Nothing wrong with it, just a LOT of fried food at the table and the flavors were pretty simple/uninspired. I ended up picking the fish out of the breading. In my humble opinion, there are many better options in Indy and Fountain Square.

Incredible food and atmosphere. It's a great place to go for classic britishb pub food as well as American classics! The fish and chips were very very good, as well as the French onion soup. Red lion will be a new go to for me in fountain square!!!

You cannot go wrong with the fish and chips! A friend and me went to dinner at Red Lion on Sunday. The restaurant was not very busy. I ordered the curry and chips and it came out quickly. The curry had a bit of spice to it. I liked it. My friend did not. The chip aka fries were good. Our dinner came out right after getting our appetizer. I ordered the fish and chips and it was excellent. The batter on the fish had a good crunch. It came with a small cup of slaw and tartar sauce. There was malt vinegar and other condiments on the table. One thing I didn't like was not the restaurants fault. There is a club next door and the bass from the music was very loud and distracting while we were trying to talk. I was surprised it was so loud at 4:30 on a Sunday.

Red Lion Grog House is next door to the Hi-Fi, a local music venue. I needed a place to "pre-game" and get a drink before a show (Broken Social Scene, if you must know), so in I went. This is one of those places that's dark and dank inside, and it's a little disorienting walking inside because you feel like you stepped into a different realm. And then, when you emerge after having your little drink, you're punted back out into the real world and blinded by the natural light of day. But while you're inside, Red Lion feels like a cozy little den. They have video games that you can play from the bar (Mario), and sports on the TVs and music playing. There are booths and tables, but also a long bar where you can sit and think, and is underlit with a red light. I saw some people around me eating, but I was only there for a drink, so I didn't even look at the food menu. The servers were nice and efficient, and the beer I got was cold and local. This is a good spot to pop in and get a cheeky drink, if you're in the mood like I was.

Have you been to Red Lion? Why not? They're delicious! Come on these guys would get a 5 star just for having elephant ears! Which by the way are served piping hot and sprinkle in cinnamon deliciousness.Red Lion is located on the main strip in Fountain Square. It really is like (or what I would guess) walking into a British pub. With the old feel of the Murphy's building and the wooden bar area. I got the ol Indiana favorite - breaded tenderloin but they also have London staples like bangers n mash and Shepards pie. There is certainly going to be something for everyone in your party to find.
