My wife and I have been here before and have enjoyed the people, atmosphere, and food. They usually have excellent Mexican food and that's why we've been here so many times, but we were a little disappointed this time.We had just come here after watching a movie and I was looking forward to trying one of their vegetarian dishes. When we first arrived we were immediately greeted and seated. I looked around and noticed all of their colorful decorations on the ceiling. They had some slightly upbeat Spanish music playing along with a few TVs mounted on the walls around the restaurant. There were some other decorations throughout, but that was what I felt was most prominent. I also noticed that they were very slow with only a handful of customers counting us.They seated us in a booth in the back corner of a couple of outside walls. I sat on the bench along the back wall and my wife sat opposite me. While the seats were comfortable and the seats themselves were clean, you could see many food crumbs between the cushions and the back of the seats. However, the floors seemed clean as well as the table. They started us out with a basket of chips and salsa and upon our request, they promptly brought out a small bowl of queso to go with them. The chips were nice and crunchy and not too salty or greasy. The salsa was tangy, chunky, and full of flavor without being too spicy. The queso was creamy and smooth.I ordered the cheese and mushroom quesadilla that came with a salad consisting of shredded lettuce, chopped tomato, and a small amount of sour cream and a side order of Spanish rice and a Diet Coke. My wife ordered two chicken flautas that came with a side of refried beans and Spanish rice and a Diet Coke. While the cheese and the tortilla used for the quesadilla tasted fine, I was disappointed with the mushrooms. Since this is a restaurant, I figured they would want to use fresh mushrooms. They clearly used canned mushrooms and I know they're canned because I've seen and eaten canned mushrooms before, even cooked with them from time to time. I decided to eat it anyway thinking maybe the overall flavor would be okay, but it still wasn't what I hoped it would be. I put the sour cream on it and that made it a little better, but it didn't hide the fact those mushrooms came from a can. I didn't eat the salad because I don't like shredded lettuce very much and despite liking tomatoes, I just didn't feel like eating them. The Spanish rice was okay, it had a good flavor and was chunky with carrots, peppers, peas, corn, and small bits of green beans. I admit I didn't eat much of it because I've never been much for peas and carrots and I haven't enjoyed corn for a while, I thought the green beans didn't really belong in the rice, but someone else would probably like it.My wife was slightly disappointed with her chicken flautas. She thought they'd be slightly smaller in size and be more crunchy or at least a little bit crispy on the outside. Instead, they were more like all shredded chicken burritos with queso poured over the top. They weren't crispy or crunchy at all and only had the shredded chicken inside of them. She did enjoy the refried beans which had a little bit of cheese on top and the Spanish rice though.Other than our main entrees being a little disappointing, the rest was fine. Good chips, salsa, and queso, they brought our drinks out right away and the server was very attentive and helpful when we had menu questions. They have so many other entrees that we've tried in the past that were excellent during past visits there, so I'm a little sad these didn't live up to our high expectations we've had for the place based on past experience. We'll probably still come back in the future, but we'll likely not get these entrees again.

We stumbled upon Ranchera, seeing signs offering amazing Monday-Saturday lunch deals. The restaurant is larger than it looks from outside and there is nice covered patio seating if you want to sit outdoors. Mariachi music was playing festive music when we entered. TV monitors were running a mix of soaps and sports. Decor is traditional Mexican with signs on the wall advertising drink specials. We were the only guests for a late Friday lunch. Our server, Papaya, was very attentive and friendly. He checked on us multiple times and kept our waters full. Complementary chips and a thick salsa came out quickly. I had special #1 which included a poblano, taco, beans and a guac salad. The food came out on two plates. The poblano was huge, hot, filled with melted cheese, battered on the outside. I could not eat it all. The beef hard-shell taco was packed generously with fresh cheese, beef and lettuce. The guac salad was refreshing and good. This was a good refreshing lunch with generous portions and a great value. My husband had Lunch # 7 which included a burrito, enchilada and tamale. I would get this meal next time. The enchilada was covered with fabulous mole sauce. The tamale was delicious. Everything about this lunch rocked. They have a full bar and signature cocktails. There was also a kid's menu. There is plenty of parking in the strip mall. I'll be back, next time with a margarita.

If you're in the mood for delicious authentic Mexican cuisine, Ranchera is a must-try. I'm a huge fan of steak fajitas and queso, but I decided to try something different this time, and I was not disappointed. Per the server's recommendation, I ordered the Arroz con Carne (steak) and added pineapple and grilled onions. The steak had a delightful charred flavor, and the grilled pineapple and onions melted in my mouth. The service was just as outstanding as the food; our waiter kept us laughing and made sure our drinks were always refilled.

We were very impressed by the food and how clean and bright this restaurant is. Years ago this location was a Le Peep and then Metro Diner. Chips and salsa were good. Typically don't like salsa because it is too chunky. Their salsa was almost a marinara consistency and had great flavor. The Queso we didn't see on the menu but they fo haven it. It was also very good. Husband got Chicken and Rice. It was a huge portion of chicken. He loved it. I got a taco salad. It was a very good portion of everything you want in a taco salad. Service was very good. Prices were reasonable. We will be back.

Great location and only thing open on Tuesday in this area between 330-430 lolI ended up here after wanting Thai food but they were closed for this hour as most Thai places are, and Athens is closed on Monday and Tuesday. They were playing music that could be heard outside. I'm glad I ended up here because the drink, food, and service was all good. The portions were huge!!! The Paloma was good as well. There was only one other person in here so it was like I had the whole place to myself.

My first visit to this new Mexican restaurant, at the former Metro Diner location. The interior is light and bright, with neon lights and bright colors. Service was prompt and attentive. I was seated immediately, and chips and salsa were quickly served. The chips were delicious, slightly thicker than average and lightly seasoned. Salsa was very good, mild and with a fresh flavor. I ordered cheese dip and it was served very warm. I ordered one of the lunch specials, which featured an enchilada, rice, and refried beans. It was a generous serving, especially for lunch. The enchilada was very good, and the rice was fluffy. The refried beans were thin and although I prefer more texture the flavor was good. There is a full bar, beer, wine, and drink specials. The dinner menu included some unique entrees as well as the usual Mexican dishes. Prices are very reasonable.Good food and great service, this place will be a regular on my Mexican rotation.

Ranchera Mexican Restaurant just opened 5 days ago, November 26, 2021 where Metro Diner use to be across from Brebuf. Parking isn't an issue with the large strip center parking lot. The restaurant has booths and many 4-top tables as seating options with spacious isleway's. The menu offers all the favorites from Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Quesadillas, Fajitas, Speciality Combos, Enchiladas, Burritos, Chimichangas and much more. A diverse Lunch Menu is offered Monday - Saturday from 11:00a - 3:00p. You have many different lunch options on the menu with prices less than $10. The regular menu offers all the favorites with many speciality meals. I ordered the generous, lunch size Tilapia served on grilled vegetables, (onions, red peppers, carrots) with choice of rice or beans and tortillas. The Tilapia was tender, flaky and well seasoned. The veggies were crisp tender and nice accompaniments for the Tilapia. Of course, as I always do, I ordered the Flan and I'm so happy I did. It was excellent and so fresh. Served with whipped cream and sprinkles is always a nice touch. My server, Gus, was phenomenal and checked on me often without being intrusive and took excellent care of me. He deserves 5 stars just for his effort and service plus for the tables I watched him serve. I hope you stop in and give Ranchera a try. The service was excellent, food arrived quickly, very affordable and the food was good.

In town for business so thought we'd try this local Mexican spot. Parking ample. First impression is a very clean and inviting atmosphere. Service was prompt and friendly. Started with house drinks (see pictures) both done well and flavor done right. We went for the shared steak and shrimp fajita. Very generous portions. Served hot and extremely tender. Flavors outstanding. I'd recommend for anyone looking for a decent Mexican style offering. Prices on track with similar outlets.
