Pizza Pantry

Once again for lunch I decided to go the 'unhealthy' route and enjoy the pizza buffet at Pizza Pantry. This is a locally owned pizza joint, which as we all know can be significantly better than most national chains, and when you find the ones, you like it can be magic! Pizza Pantry is one of those. PP is known for its buffet - lunch and dinner - and it's a great deal if dining alone or at least splitting the check. Less so if you're a family. The full buffet includes 4-5 pizzas at a time, soups, sometimes fried mushrooms (amazing), breadsticks, dipping sauces. The salad bar is just that - a basic salad bar. Both are great and the pizza is thin crust, crispy and very flavorful. It's one of the better options in the Bloomington/Elletsville area.The buffet is small but it's made up for by being replenished frequently - it's usually very busy at lunch - and they have good variety to cycle thru. Often the person working will ask if you have any favorites, especially if it's slower than usual. It's pay at the counter, choose a seat, eat until you're full. They'll clear the table between visits normally, but it's not a fancy joint so don't expect five star table service. The only downside is when you have a family. . . four buffets is going to run you $40-50 for dinner. Might be cheaper to just order a couple of pizzas. But variety is the spice of life, so if you want to enjoy great pizza and unlimited at that, this is a great option!!

I was craving a pizza buffet from my childhood and heard good things about this pizza place ! Honestly it was worth it. Full salad bar, 3 hot soups, and a whole pizza buffet with breadsticks. When we went, it was a little picked over, but they were bringing new pizzas out as fast as they could. It reminded me of a pizza place back home. The sauce is delicious and the breadsticks were soft and wonderful ! We paid $21 for two of us - so worth it.

Went for the buffet with 7 hungry grandkids. The buffet was subpar with pizza being brought sporadically and was well over an hour before any breadsticks were brought out. The salad bar was not the quality I would have liked. Lettuce was old looking. And, no soups were ever restocked during our visit.

Gotta love an old fashioned Pizza and Salad bar! Pizza Pantry always hits the spot because they offer a wonderful variety of salad options and their pizzas are top notch too! I love that we have this place close to home. When you drive up to the building it gives off the "run down pizza joint" feel, but it really is NOT. It's actually very very kitschy and vintage! When you open the doors you are met with wonderful aromas of pizza and garlic bread. This place is totally renovated inside with very cute tables, adorable barn like flooring and very modern metal siding on the walls. You seat yourself and almost 2 minutes after you are greeted by a sweet smiling lady asking what you'd like to drink. You get up and serve yourself all the pizza and salad that you can eat! Their pizza is always fresh and their salad bar has a ton of options. This place is extremely reasonably priced and you get a lot for the money!

Ordered the stromboli and the basket of fried mushrooms and was honestly not expecting much but was proven very wrong, to my pleasure. The stromboli was traditional served with bread and butter pickles which is a must! I must say though the fried mushrooms stole the show! They were fresh and breaded ever so lightly which is the way they should be. No heavy batter that takes away from the mushroom. These were honestly top 3 fried mushrooms I've had. I will definitely be back for those! Diamond in the rough!

The flavor of the food is excellent but on the sandwiches, there's hardly any toppings. Will try one more time.

I took my wife and grandchildren and friend after church service we paid about 50 dollars and the food was not very good the service was non existent we had to keep requesting food which is alright but they wouldn't even come clean our plates and stuff off table so we could have more room for our next plates we got from the next trip of food. we had to ask and they said that they will only pick up when we leave, we had to go ask for refills also I am just amazed by the lack of service and will not be going back.

Traveling home from a baseball game and looked for a pizza place.... This popped up on GPS with a 4 star rating on yelp so we stopped ..... great choice !!!! Had the meat lovers pizza and it was delicious!!!!! Service was great and the place was extremely clean!!!!!We will be back

The graduating class of 1971 had their monthly luncheon at the Pizza Pantry today with 20 classmates attending.This restaurant made an estimated $300.00 from our class and the waitress somewhere around $60.!! Maybe that's not enough for them to get excited about but I would think in these times we are in they would be elated to have us! To begin a luncheon with the waitress announcing that we are only allowed one hour for our lunch is absolutely unacceptable. We always call ahead with an approximate head count and nothing was said about a time limit! I do believe that if our entire class didn't have the personalities that we do, we would all have gotten up and left when she made the announcement! I sure don't mean to be a bitch about this, but some things just really get me riled up!Our class has a monthly luncheon at a different restaurant each month. Normally we choose a restaurant in the Bloomington area. This will be the last time we choose Pizza Pantry.

We love their sausage pizza and fried mushrooms. This is a go to for us when we are in the area.
