Pizza King - Indianapolis

I love Pizza King, I remember trying Pizza King when I was very young and it is still delicious. Some Pizza King's are not the same as others, I am not sure how you can tell before visiting, but THIS ONE IS ONE OF THE GOOD ONES! We visited one day driving by and we were very happy! I My favorite pizza is with barbeque sauce and pepperoni and sausage, yum! Their ranch is delicious too! I can't wait to come back, my kids love it too!

All of my reviews are either really good or really bad, but I felt compelled to share this one. Overall, I'm just going to give two stars, but let me explain why:On Memorial Day, I ordered $63 worth of food; (1) 16" pizza, (1) medium pan pizza, (2) sides of garlic sauce, and a chef salad for my wife. Not a small order, especially on a day where people weren't buying pizza. It was a ghost town there.When I called in and spoke to the manager, who took my order, he repeated it back to me, and when I asked if i could use coupons for the order, he said yes, and that he would apply them by the time I got there.I picked up the order and left. We';ve ordered Pizza King from more than a dozen locations over the years, and at this one many times as well. When I got home, I discovered several issues with the order. First, there weren't two garlic sauces, there were two "dill" sauces. I've never ordered these - ever - and that's how I know I didn't order them. I order garlic sauce for the pizza. Secondly, both pizzas were undercooked. This is actually the norm for this location, and management only needs to look at the temperature and timing of the belt oven they use. Literally every pizza is slightly undercooked. Always has been. The difference here vs other stores is definitely noticeable. Then, when I opened my wife's "CHEF" salad...... it was nothing more than lettuce with two slices of ham thrown on top, that was clearly pulled apart by hand. A toddler could have made it, easily. Just look at the picture. Needless to say, we won't be ordering a other one ever, as it is almost $8.As for the pizza, it was okay. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't as amazing as Pizza King pizza should be. Everyone knows PK charges a premium for their pizza, but the way the pizza is made at this location, leaves a lot to be desired. Anytime we order, I usually ask my wife NOT to order from this location for this very reason. However, I was on 82nd street and Lantern road and this was just more convenient. Next time, I'll reconsider.Finally, I hadn't looked at my receipt while in the store, but the manager didn't use any coupons on the order. The amount was the same amount $63 he had quoted me on the phone.Pizza King, you need to do better. Your customers deserve better. This isn't the end of the world and no, I didn't have a bad day because of it, but in today's economy, when a customer spend $63 with you, you need to do better. MUCH much better.

Let me start by saying I grew up with a pizza king that we ate almost every Friday...this isn't close in taste to it. The service was not great for 3 total tables. He seemed stressed so maybe he was new. We ordered an XL pizza with pepperoni and mushroom. Here is my biggest pet peeve about pizza you should have a bite of your toppings in every single bite!! We had to pay $6.60 for those toppings and they were scarce and so was the cheese. Anyone who grew up with a a PK knows there's the saltiness to the crust but not here this pizza was so bland. There was also Way too much sauce compared to the toppings. I also don't think we got an XL pizza, it didn't even go to the edges of the cardboard. $30 for a pizza that was "eh"The breadsticks with dill butter on them were amazing. I would go back just for those but skip the pizza. This is the only reason it gets more than 1 star. I'm telling you they were delicious!!It was also free breadstick night and she charged us for the breadsticks. That was my husband's fault as he didn't pay attention and just paid.

We have kind servers and great pizza and breadsticks at this Pizza King. Nice dining room too.

Second Saturday in a row we have come to this PK. I'll spare you the details of how we are PK experts since early childhood. Both visits have been frustrating! Last Saturday after waiting for our food the server let us know they lost our order and had to start from scratch. Sigh......ok, whatever. Gave them another chance tonight. Brought out husbands food only. I asked where mine was. Server said they only had one pizza on the order. So I had to order mine allll over again. She didn't write anything down (I asked for a couple of alterations to the normal pizza). 15 minutes later the manager brings my pizza without any apology or explanation and said "I have a surprise for you!" and sets my food down. The wrong pizza. Wrong size. Wrong toppings. By then I was so over it and hungry I just ate it. The server was very apologetic but not a word from the manager. When we paid the cashier had to ask him about giving us a discount (we didn't ask) and he sheepishly said 20%. Never a word from him. We will not return.

Born & raised in Indiana, I first had Pizza King "Royal Feast" when I was in high school back in the 60's. It is the best pizza I have eaten. Been gone from Indy for the last 20 years . . But I back temporary for a few months. I WILL be going to get my favorite pizza again while I'm here. It best with a Coors Lite too!

My husband has loved Pizza King from his days at IU. I've become a fan - good pizza and have always had great service!

This particular store is simply amazing! It used to not be...The manager Chris is so friendly and polite to all of the customers, and the signature royal feasts pizzas that get from here are among the absolute best of any pizza kings in Indiana (we visit a lot of them). They evenly distribute the topping all the way out to the edges, and they're cooked (not raw or burnt)!We would highly recommend this Pizza King for your next date or family dinner night!

We ordered carry out & food was ready as expected. Crust on pizza was not very crisp.Ingredients were good quality, but would order a crisp crust next time.

When this location first opened, it was a train wreck. Barely any sauce on the pizza, slim on the toppings. Tables dirty, service poor & the manager spoke poorly to his employees. For all these reasons, I decided to give them time to work out the kinks and I opted to go back pick up at the Fortville & McCordsville stores. Mind you, the Geist location is about 4 minutes from my home, but I still preferred to drive further - that's how bad it was. Fast forward to about 5 months ago, I decided to give this location another shot. I was so happy to see that they had it together. They had new management & new staff. The new manager, Ketra, has turned this store around. The staff is so friendly, the pizzas are fantastic and I'm more than happy to pick it up myself. When I picked up my order today, I complimented the manager on what a great job they were doing. She was very appreciative and said it would really help if I could leave a review. So here it is. I grew up on PK & consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of PK. I would encourage you to give this location another shot if you had been unhappy with it in the past. You'll be glad you did. #ringtheking
