Papa Bears Chicken

The lamb chops and rice was definitely a pleasant surprise!The food was expertly prepared and you can tell that the cook/chef takes pride in his work.Another great feature is that he stays open later than any other restaurant in the area!!!

We moved here from Florida almost a month ago our fav wing spot there was papa bees! Now we found this spot and it might be better!! The wings were so crispy and flavorful! The whole car smelled amazing as soon as my husband got in with the wings. Thanks so much for the delicious food!! God bless you and yours!

Excellent fried chicken at this SoBro converted bungalow. The wings are perfectly crisp, and the fries are very good. There is plenty of parking in the lot that's on the west side of the restaurant. This is exclusively a takeout spot, and I rate Papa Bears' wings among the best in town. Order ahead or be prepared to wait (less than 15 minutes if not busy). Friendly service. I suggest calling ahead because the hours are limited and depend on Papa's availability. I went on a Saturday at about 1:45 pm and was the only one there. This is a real gem!

Great food! Good service! Small to go spot on 46th st across from gold leaf. They stay open late late on the weekends (after 3am). When we went at 9pm it said open but the door was locked and no one was there. We figured he just went out for a minute, which was the case. Its a one man show. Glad we stuck around for a few minutes. Chicken scratch was completely closed. It was well worth the wait. Took about 15-20 min for our food. The flavor was good, the food was hot. Loved the spicy garlic on the wings. The stir fry has a honey garlic pepper sauce. It's a huge serving. Def have leftovers so worth the $30+. It's a small shop and sign so you might miss it if you're not looking for it. They are on Instagram and update it so id check it too or call before going

I had been trying to catch this restaurant for months. Their hours were always hit or miss. I guess I got lucky today and they were open. I hear they are consistently open on weekends, but good luck trying to catch them on weekdays. The owner is pretty much a one man shop. He was very friendly. There is a nice private lot on the side of the restaurant for you to park. In addition to their wings, they have king crab legs, lamb chops, burgers, fish, ribs and shrimp. I came for wings and that is what I got. They have a few different sauces that you can get on your wings including, hot honey, spicy garlic, mango habanero, buffalo, Miami style, BBQ, and Kicken Bourbon, which is the sauce I went with. I got the 10 piece with fries. The restaurant does not have a place to really sit down and eat. There is a small table with two chairs in there, along with a couple of other chairs, but I think those are for waiting. They also do not have any drinks. You can however, go next door and get some Londo's Flameade next door or hit the convenience store up across the street if you are thirsty. I waited about 15 minutes for my food. It was a nice day, so I took it to a nearby park to eat. The wings were huge, the size of a baby's fist. The food was delicious. Very flavorful and I like the way the sauce stuck to the meat. It was well worth the wait. The fries were pretty good too. They had my licking my fingers. Anyway, this joint is definitely worth checking out to get your wing fix. They have some delicious food and great service.

They food was so good! I'll definitely get the wings wet next time but it's definitely flavorful and cooked well! I wish I got more fries. Be aware they didn't have typically take out containers but it's fine. The space is takeout only but you can sit outside (1 table) to wait for your items. Also they are open til 3am on the weekend. It'll definitely become a weekly spot.

I always make it a point to stop in at papa bears chicken whenever I'm in the Indianapolis area! Hands down the best fried chicken and best service straight from papa bear himself. If you're ever in the Indy area this is a must stop! Flew from Las Vegas to Indy on my way to Detroit had to stop in!

Thank you Papa Bear! Our son requested wings for his graduation open house this weekend... on Wednesday! We spoke with Papa Bear's on Thursday morning and he pulled through with an order of 400 wings I picked up on Saturday morning. And they were delicious! Papa Bear's was a big hit with everyone in attendance. We had trays of BBQ, Parmesan Garlic, Honey Garlic Pepper and Buffalo. All 4 were amazing. And these weren't tiny little wings. Papa Bear's buys the good stuff. Nice and hearty.We definitely recommend Papa Bear's for your next large party.Note that the standard Buffalo sauce has quite a kick to it. If you don't like spicy, the BBQ was sweet and mild.

Let me start by saying we were grossly overcharged. My husband paid $37 for a perch dinner and 2 pc what was supposed to wings, that were legs. The fries taste like they had been cooked in burnt grease. The chicken was over cooked and dry. The perch was seasoned good. He was out of ranch dressing. Inside could used some cleaning. I like to patronize black owned businesses but please stop treating your people like this. shame on you Papa Bear for robbing your customers, more like Greedy Bear.

We were in town from Lexington and I had to drive home and slap my mother. Incredible food and the guy behind the counter was the best. The catfish, the wings, the dirty dog, the fries, all were good. Open late is always a plus. Cant wait to come back.
