I had been craving sushi, and finally got out for a date night! We came in on a Saturday, and this was a very busy place which is always a great sign. They had a bit of a line waiting for guests to get seated. Staff were very friendly and they start you out with either soup or salad. It was a cold day, so I opted for the soup. We ordered a mix of sushi. I like how the menu has some photos of rolls. It took over an hour after we ordered to get our sushi. You can watch them preparing the sushi rolls which is very cool.

Mardi Gras Roll & Louisiana RollSo much food! Why I love this place. Their Canadian used to be my favorite-but it looks like they've changed the salmon they use. No biggie. This place serves some of the biggest rolls I've seen.Go check them out and see for yourself!

I am always on the lookout for sushi! I moved into the 86th and Ditch area and had heard about a great sushi place in one of the strip malls. Finally, 1 year in, I was able to visit. Brightly lit, wonderful dining area.We went last minute late in the evening and were seated quickly. Many take-out orders were being processed (which made me feel good about their quality). We had a fantastic waitress who explained items on the menu and took time to ensure we knew their ordering process. The garlic edamame was amazing! It was definitely a hit. We also tried regular edamame, which was good. The miso soup was also warm, flavorful, and hit the spot.Sushi rolls and sashimi were ordered. They were out of a couple of specialty sashimi and nigiri, so my husband said to bring me anything in place. We tried multiple rolls, and I loved the Rock N Roll and San Diego roll. I did not like one item: the banana sushi. My friend ordered this, not me; I just want to point that out. But we had to try it, and I will never try it again. If you like something different, try it, but oh no, that is not something that should be mixed together.PROS:Ease of parkingGreat dining area, large, friendly staffAmazing choice of itemsYou can purchase some items (food and non-food as well)CONS:Banana sushi- unless you are into that sort of thing! Not visible off of 86th. You have to know it is there (it seems)

This restaurant has been around forever and I'm glad I came back - it's been years! It's in a nondescript strip mall and tough to see off 86th street unless you're looking for it.The service is efficient and quick but you won't feel rushed. My favorite.Very well priced and plentiful. We came during lunch so got the lunch time special. For about $16 you CANNOT beat this deal- salad or miso soup, select from a good list of rolls (mine ended up about 10 pieces with lots of additional crab on top, 2 pieces of sashimi, and another side. I got the 3 gyoza and this lunch was huge. The ambience is warm and casual. Good for lunch dates, kids, time with friends! After writing this I think I need to go back soon!

My wife and I came here two nights ago for a friend's birthday. We've been here many times because I love their sushi. I ordered edamame to share with my wife, a Canadian roll, and miso soup. My wife ordered the spicy combo and miso soup. Our miso soups came out first even though I would have preferred getting the edamame first because it's an appetizer. The soup was nice, hot, and tasty with plenty of tofu cubes and seaweed without too much of each.My Canadian roll was perfectly made with cream cheese, shrimp, avocado, smoked salmon, fish egg outside with a creamy, spicy sauce. It was the perfect mouthful of flavors for me.My wife very much enjoyed her spicy combo. She normally makes a substitute for the Bob's roll that comes with it because she hates asparagus, but decided not to this time and gave it a try. It was actually pretty good according to her and the asparagus was not overwhelming in flavor. The part of the restaurant where we were was nice and clean and the server was very friendly. There was no music playing that I noticed, but there were televisions around the place playing various sports games. It was mostly a night of good conversation with friends while enjoying mouthwatering sushi. We will always return because we love their sushi.I regret not taking pictures.

Had high hopes, left extremely disappointed. Over an hour wait to get meals after order placed. All meals & app were subpar. Husband rated it as some of the worst Japanese food he'd ever had & Japanese food is his favorite. Staff was nice enough but we won't be back.

Okay probably the worst Japanese cuisine I've ever had in the USA. This was unfortunate as the reviews from others gave me high hopes, but no it was a let down so bad I don't think it will be given a 3 try chance.1. Garlic Edamame was bad, it tasted like salt and pepper pork rinds. Wasn't just me who thought this. 2/10 I mean how do you make bad edamame? Well surprised me... They did.2. Soft Shell Crab roll! (In photo) was absolutely terrible! Whoever thought deep frying soft shell crab, and then just smashing it into a mushy blob and wrapping seaweed and rice around it , and serving it... Well... I'll leave it there, it was a HARD 3/10 because of price and quality.3. Belly sushi was good 8/10 but price to portion comparing everywhere I've been to eat dropped the entire experience to 5/10. The cuts were terribly thin, like they were trying to save money and get more cuts to profits.

I have dined here several times and enjoyed everything I have eaten- from sushi, to soup and the appetizers. The dinner portions are a really good size and I always go home stuffed!I recommend the chirashi bowl if you're a sashimi lover. You get a little bit of everything. We have ordered the sushi/salmon bento box thinking we get more salmon rolls, but it is actually a cooked salmon! Don't make the same mistake as is if you're expecting raw salmon!!

I was on the hunt for a bento box and was happy to find Ocean World. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and California roll bento along with seaweed salad. The chicken teriyaki was more for my kids to share and it was nothing special. Just chicken teriyaki but always a hit with my kids. I liked the assortment you get with the bento (miso soup or salad and tempura veggies & shrimp). It's a lot of food for one person! I ended up only eating a few bites of everything in the bento and even sharing the chicken with my kids gave us a good amount of left overs for the next day. I ordered the food to-go. I'm glad that they put plastic wrap over the items that might spill because the box with the teriyaki had a little sauce coming out of it and it was saved by the plastic wrap which avoided mess in my car! Pretty solid place for some Japanese food!

I came to ocean world for lunch and they have so many delicious options as lunch specials. Our server was polite and attentive, asking if we wanted a refill on drinks as we were getting close to finish our cups. The decor was not my favorite but it was still a clean environment, with paper lined tables for easy cleanup. I ordered the Las Vegas roll and the sweet chili shrimp, both of which were delicious. I'll be back for lunch again soon!
