Okay, so picture... you're in a place that was a bar and grill server veal cutlets not very long ago. And you order... um... what's this again? Ah, okay, Japanese tempura, sushi, sashimi, okay, got it... except, why is the television on wall playing Chinese folk songs? And why is every single person on staff speaking Mandarin? All of the "huh" factor aside, this is a credible take on a middle of the road Japanese restaurant. And c'mon, this is in Peru, Indiana, not Carmel or Fishers. So, extend a little slack, tuck in, and enjoy a pretty decent Japanese meal!

Excellent food and service. I've gone here several times since it's opening and have never had anything I didn't like, and never had a bad experience. Beautiful interior and cool decorations all around. I would say this is definitely the best restaurant out of the maybe 8 real restaurants that are in Peru.

Nori Japan recently opened in Peru in a former bar. The bar isn't being used for traditional purposes, but a limited alcohol selection seemed to be available. I liked that most of the seating was in booths. Nice decor. The effort put into that was noticed. Service was close to excellent. My well-meaning server attempted to clear dishes when I wasn't finished and had a mouthnfull of food. She removed our water glasses to refill rather than pouring water at the table. Everyone working here was super welcoming though. Lots of acknowledgement. Our food came out extremely fast as well, namely the almost immediate serving of miso soup upon ordering. My food was good. I had the avocado roll, sweet potato roll, and the vegetable tempura. My dining companion said their miso soup was the best she's ever had. The sweet potato roll pieces, while aestheticly pleasing, were cut too large for me to eat in one bite. I felt like a slob trying to eat these in public. Chopsticks were available upon request but were round and more difficult to use. I ended up needing my fork which I rarely utilize for Japanese fare. Tempura seemed to only be on two of the sweet potato roll pieces. The avocado roll was good. It just came unrolled a bit. I liked the vegetable tempura as well. It was served hot with a side of a sweet sauce resembling a thinner duck sauce. Their wasabi was definitely fresh with a lot of kick. I appreciate that low sodium soy sauce was one of the options on the table. I thought the food wasn't quite as good as my favorite places in nearby towns, but it surpassed the quality of others. Nori's prices are a bit higher than what I am used to but somewhat comparable to other semi local Japanese restaurants. I'd say to expect to spend around $20 and up per person before tip.I didn't get pictures of everything inside nor outside. One TV had cool, well-taken, and artsy footage of sushi on repeat. They also had outdoor deck seating. Flies getting inside was the only real annoyance. Everything was clean, however, and I didn't leave reeking of fried food nor with the feeling of needing an immediate shower. I didn't notice that we had straws on the table already at first. The straws being pre rolled with the flatware was cute and efficient. I hadn't seen that anywhere before. I enjoyed the ambience although you definitely feel like you're in an old bar. It felt like a waterfront bar without the water. The Wabash is the equivalent of one street over, but you can't see it from there. Despite the prices, I would probably return, especially for take out. It was filling and good fare. It's about time something decent landed in Peru, so I'm glad for that. My food was just missing an "oomph" factor I just can't quite place my finger on. I don't know that I'd go out of my way from far away, especially say Indy or Fort Wayne, but if you are already passing through, it's worth checking out. You won't find anything better in this town. Nori borders on deserving four stars.

This is my $16 Poké bowl. While everything was fresh, half of the items were not included in the bowl. When I called to voice my concerns, I was told that they don't put the items from description of their menu in their Poké bowl. I felt like I was robbed. So my suggestion is if you like Poké bowls, don't order it on this menu. It's very misleading and not worth the money.

I took my friend here who is a little hesitant of sushi. She loved it and so did I! We got the gyoza which was delicious! And then two sushi rolls. Both were fantastic! It was very well priced too. Service was fast and friendly. It was also such a cute vibe in there!
