I have been wanting to go to this place for a few years now after initially seeing it while walking around Downtown Carmel. I finally remembered to go and was completely delighted in what I found! This place is located on Main Street and has parking specifically for the Museum behind the building, which is also where the entrance is located. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a lovely lady and was offered a Scavenger Hunt and an Audio-guided tour. They have 7 different exhibits, all showcasing different themes. They have an amazing Addams Family miniature creation that I was obsessed with. They are really good at providing context and telling the history of miniaturism. They also have a shop that you can buy miniatures from to create and design your own exhibit! If you are a fan of Miniature Things, awesome history or just enjoy learning new things, then you should definitely check this place out! I look forward to going back and doing the audio-guided tour!

I didn't know what to expect of this place. Ive walked by here dozens of times, but they are never open in the evenings. It so happens we were walking by after lunch, so we took a flyer and sprung for 3 tickets. It's a little pricey ($10), but worth a visit at least once. It's amazing the level of detail some people can achieve with their. Inkatures.Tip: Make sure you ask for the complimentary handheld unit so you can take the audio tour.

We found ourselves in Carmel figuring out how we should spend the day, and had never even thought to find a museum dedicated to dollhouses and collectibles... I also never thought I would be interested in something like that, but ended up finding it very cute and charming! Admission for adults is $10, and even though it may look small at first, but it took us a good amount of time to get through it all! Each room is filled to the brim with different miniature houses, with all different themes and designs. They also have audio tours, which we used a little bit and enjoyed. Even if you're not a miniature hobbyist, you may still very much enjoy this adorable museum!

There are some really cool miniatures here! This side of Carmel doesn't have much to explore outside of getting food/coffee or checking out the antique shop. The miniature museum is a really nice honest-to-goodness attraction to visit. They have historic dollhouses/miniatures as well as many other gorgeous and more contemporary miniatures. It's intriguing to see the many new and beautiful designs in there. I think it's worth a visit if you've never seen it before.

Great museum in Carmel, Indiana. It is worth the money to visit. Plan at least 1 hour for the visit. It took us 1.5 hours. They have seven room of miniature items. They also have on sale miniature item if you want to build your own miniature house. They have many types of houses. Southern house, many northern houses, Central America house, and more. Most house has front opening, some has roof opening, some has side opening for you to peek inside the house. I can said some of the item is really small but still captures the details. I saw one tea pot is less than 1/8 inches but it has extraordinary detail. The fabric of the furniture is great with detail printing. Some even has stitch flowers. Some of the southern cloth is detail to the flowers, edging, ribbons. Can you believe they have quilts in detail. I would said give them a visit if you are at Indianapolis.

Visiting the Museum of Miniature Houses is like stepping into a three-dimensional I Spy book. My kids love those books -- they like pointing out all the different items that are hiding in plain sight, and try to find things that other people overlook. That's pretty much what they did when we visited this museum. It's hard not to treat the Museum of Miniature Houses like your own I Spy game, because there are so many tiny, intricate details inside each house. A family can literally be looking at the same house and not see the same things. There are so many dollhouses here, and most of them have different themes. There is the California modern house, with its mid-century modern furniture; there's the museum, with tiny artwork and dinosaur fossils; there's the old-timey trading post. Not to mention the dozens of interiors depicting home life during different stages and eras. There are so many things to look at in this small museum, that I'll have to come back (maybe without kids) to really take my time and absorb everything around me. Speaking of kids: Everything is behind plastic cases, so kids can't touch the dollhouses, thank the Lord. It's hard not to want to touch everything, so I'm glad that the museum thought ahead and made their exhibits kid-proof. In one of the rooms, there is a dollhouse on the floor that kids can play with, so there is at least something to direct children to that's safe to play with and not off limits! What most impressed me was the display case of crocheted figures of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Each figure was about the size of a small woman's pinkie nail. How does someone create something like that?! It is amazing.Every once in a while, the museum will offer free days to the public, which is awesome. But I think this museum is definitely worth the price of admission, especially if you have the time to study everything around you.

I ventured into this gem in my search for unique places to see art and I was not disappointed. This is fine art in miniature. Miniatures are reality reduced to scale. Someone may use this in design or movies I assume, but these are collections of hobbyists. The time and detail that goes into this is amazing. The details are astonishing, from tiny telephones, to art on the walls, drapery, chandeliers, stairwells to tiny pets and even food. It is memorizing. Here are just a few I could capture well since it is difficult to take a picture of something behind glass. My favorite house was the replica of the museum. One particular artist strategically places a tiny mouse in all of her creations as a signature. It's fun trying to find it.

Definitely a unique museum! There are a number of rooms with miniature houses and scenes exquisitely decorated. Lots to look at and I think kids would find this fun - make it a scavenger hunt for them! This year is the 25th anniversary of the Museum of Miniatures and the collection has certainly grown over the years.

Fun facts :: It contains seven different rooms filled with a permanent collection of 30 fully furnished houses, 50 room settings, and collections ranging from dolls to antique linens. Six of the rooms at the Museum are actually housed in a 126-year old farmhouse! The Museum was created by three Indiana based miniaturists and it's one of only five museums in the USA devoted to the art of scale miniatures. There are seven rooms of displays, so grab a scavenger hut when you walk in and get started!! The hunt was fun, tricky at times but helped move the kids from room to room to discover the hidden items they were looking for! There were step stools under or around most of the displays so when something was a little high for kids to see, they could pop up a couple inches and get a better view.Overall this was a fun place to check out: A hidden gem right there in the middle of Carmel! This is the perfect place to visit when you are looking for something a little different, calm, and interesting. I know we are already planning our return trip. Maybe we'll see you there?
