Muddy Bottoms Bar & Grill

When the place opened, we were excited, it's a couple miles from the house.The food has been from good to OK. Nothing that I'd crave and want to go back for. Catfish nuggets are good, but a place down the road has some that'll blow you away. Boneless wings are pretty much chicken nuggets. Nothing special.The last night we went in, the service was hit or miss. Sweet girl, but got a drink wrong, tomatoes on a salad when was ordered with none and a loaded backed potato can out with nothing. Everything was corrected, but not great.The atmosphere is pretty cool, if the owner's son didn't bring his family in and treat it like it was his living room. Sometimes I just wish that I didn't have to watch constant sports when I walk in a bar. Three TVs and all on three different games.This place has the potential to be a great place, just ends a little better menu and some attention to detail.I'll keep going back, hoping. It's close to home when I want a OK meal and drink.

I wanted to love this place! It's such a cool idea- food, fun, drink, and entertainment all in rural IL! Took our 9yr old grandson for supper on a Saturday night at 5pm before a movie in mattoon. Was not that busy at all. Maybe 6 tables of people there. But we waited FOREVER (an hour) for our food. But here's where it gets good- as in bad: our kid was starving, and when the meals finally came out, we were told they were out of corn dogs. Ok. So we'll go chicken strips. He ate the small helping of hard ore ida fries while waiting on the chicken. But the girl brings out a corn dog "surprise!! I was wrong". Ok. Well. Cool?? Nope. He bites into it and made a face but wasn't going to complain bc he felt bad holding us up with his food. I reached over and took a bite. It WAS STILL FROZEN!! After a while getting the waitress back, she goes ahead and brings chicken strips. They're dried out and hard as a brick. Grandson was even more disappointed but wont complain. I'm like "want something else?" He just shakes his head. I knew he still had a chocolate chip cookie coming that is included with a kids meal. (Oh and his Pepsi was super flat) but he's eyeing a photo of their layered truffle cake. So I order that door him. It comes out. $5 for a tiny sliver. But at least he's happy to have something that isn't BAD in some way. Waitress brings the bill without any cookie (that again comes with his meal). and I asked do we get the cookie? "Oh! You still want that? I said "uhhh doesn't it come with his meal?" So she returns quite awhile later and says "we're out of cookies". I'm thinking "then does he at least get the cake free? Kid hasn't been able to eat much of anything you've brought him". But I didn't complain. We just need to get going bc of our showtime. I go ahead and get out my cash to $50 for 3 meals: kids was horrible and mine and my husbands' sandwiches were just ok. But now we've been there nearly 2 hours. Waitress come for the bill and is like "surprise! I found this for you!" And she gave him a pre packaged fudge brownie. That was super sweet and we did appreciate that. UNTIL- the next day when he opened it at home. Totally molded !!!! (See photo). What. The. Heck!!!??? Of course it's called "muddy bottoms" so be prepared to have mud alll over the floors from the mud covered people coming in from the drag races. And don't forget about the drunks who stand in front of the doors smoking in your face. I have NO idea what's going on with this place. But we won't be back. Hopefully they'll get their act together or this cool venue will soon become nothing but an empty barn full of farm equipment.

First time there was yesterday, my cousin got me out of the house to go see the band she knew. It was great; looked like we were going to have rain but turned out to be a great evening, the music was great, it was all outsides never made it inside the bar but will return for sure. Atmosphere was was good needed more picnic tables or some kind of seating in front of band or up the sides. But it was a place I would come back to regularly

Exceptional service! This bar is perfect for family and friends. They have a restaurant setting during the day and my children love to come here. Can also come later in the evening to have a few drinks with friends. With a banquet room available for special events and a massive projection screen you can host any event casual or formal. My children also love the 8 very nice diamond pool tables, the 3 dart boards, and the old pinball machine. And to end the night with laughs whether on the line or sober as a Jay bird, the bull is a hit as well!
