There's a nice big mural that is on the Riverwalk underneath a bypass next to the water. Unfortunately, some people have graffiti to over majority of it but the art in detail is still there and it is still a nice public art display.

Morphis is a very detailed public art mural of 3 women located in downtown Indianapolis along the canal walk area. My family and I were in town for the weekend my daughter cheer Competition held inside the Convention center. Over the two days while waiting between performances and awards ceremonies me and sometimes my family walked the surrounding areas and explored as the public art scene here is plentiful and creative. One of the cooler places we discovered while exploring the area. The canal walk we noticed when checking out the 9/11 tribute. We went down a flight of stairs and while walking along the canal we noticed on the underpasses on each side was murals all the way down. This piece was the Ford one we noticed on our wall and rally stuck out among the other pieces as it was the only piece that had accurate portrayals or realism. I'm not familiar with any of the ladies in this mural but it is very nicely done.

This is a nice detailed piece that is part of the Arts Council of Indianapolis' successful 46 for XLVI mural Initiative Program. It was painted in 2011 by Augustina Droze. It is located under the Michigan Street overpass of the canal. The center piece of the mural depicts woman of three different generations or stages in their lives. I would probably be in the middle picture's stage. It takes a woman from her young adult life, to her mid life, to her golden years. The mural also has a butterfly and a bright yellow Daisy which is intended to represent growth. The faces are on a black and blue background of a map of the canal. I really like the detail of the piece. The images almost look like pictures. The colors really pop. Anyway, there is tons of metered street parking available near the entrance to the canal where the mural is located, so you can get out and take a look. Just be sure to make sure you are on the right side of the canal you want to be on. Whether it is the side the mural is on, or across from it, to give you more of an overhead view. There are also a few garages within a reasonable walking distance too. Obviously, this is not a mural that you can do a drive by on, so that is not an option. You have to hoof it.As with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. You may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals in the area. There are a ton of them under the over passes along the canal, to maximize your time and trip.

This mural (part of the "46 for XLVI" project in 2011 for the Superbowl hosted in Indy) is one of the most eye catching murals created along the canal. Artist Augustina Droze created "Morphos" to show the metamorphosis of a woman at three stages of life. The larger than life portraits are done in black and white and are very relatable. The artist also adds a full color sunflower and butterfly which undergo much more rapid changes in their brief lifespans. All the images are painted over a backdrop of a map of the canal area.Review #1337
