Moody's Butcher Shop

The team here is incredible and made this an incredibly impressive experience that I came home telling my family about. The staff immediately greeted me, briefly explained the store layout and high quality of the meat, then shared their favorite items. They came out from behind the counter to show me the hickory smoked bacon that they all love. Their description of the taste sold me on it immediately and I bought two packs for my husband. He loved them. Their team also shared how incredible and fresh their chicken is, so I got a few chicken breasts as well and enjoyed looking around the store, full of local chips, sauces, dips, and meats. It's a small store, but packed with good stuff. I'll definitely be back, not only for the quality meat, but for the friendly service. Butcher shops can sometimes be overwhelming as someone who doesn't know a ton about cuts of meat, but they were so eager to explain and share their knowledge, which was much appreciated.

This is my first time going to a butcher shop. You can enter the shop from either side. The shop is pack with fresh bacon, ribs, steaks, pork chops, sausage, and chicken. The gentleman that helped me was very helpful and informative. The meat does not have any fillers and preservatives. If you want to spend a little less money and don't care if you meat is not as fresh then you can buy stuff from the freezer. The freezer meat is 20% off every Monday, by the way. The store also sells seasonings, sauces, small desserts, some gummies and chips.The shop is very clean and has adequate parking. I got a few steaks and some ground beef made into half pound patties. I spent a little more than I had planned but oh well. I must admit that the meat was fresh. I got home, seasoned my meat and threw it on the grill. Look out Ruth Chris, my steaks were scrumptious. Very good. The burgers were good, but next time, I would probably do quarter pounders. The half pounders were huge. Yes, you will pay a lot more getting your meat from a butcher versus a grocery store, but sometimes you have to splurge. You do get the freshest cuts and a higher quality meat. I definitely wont get my meat from a butcher every time. But when I do, this shop will be a super option for me.

We LOVE this place. Have only recently discovered it in the past few months since my son started North Central across the street this year, but have been pretty much weekly customers since. The employees are so knowledgable and friendly, and have given us some great recommendation and cooking tips for our purchases. My kiddo has developed a passion for steak, which isn't a cheap hobby, but all of the products we've ever gotten here have been of outstanding quality. Make sure you pick up a bottle of their signature house garlic butter seasoning, it's great on pretty much anything. We've used it on steaks, pasta, mashed potatoes, garlic bread... so tasty. I'll never buy steaks from a grocery store again.

I stopped in to purchase steaks while visiting family. I purchase New York strips that were prime or near prime quality. I was also very impressed with their pork cuts...especially the pork chops. I didn't order any this time but I will in the future.The only knock is their price. They are priced for the clientele and locale but go outside the city and you can get far better pricing.

Saw the coming soon sign every time we went to whole foods. Finally today was the day! Everyone was so helpful. All the staff are ready to assist you . Wanted somewhere where you could get the meat cut the way I want it, when it come so whole chicken ! And included in the price of the chicken ...

Stopped in today and had a fantastic experience. We were recommended to go here and understood why as soon as we arrived. Staff was so friendly and greeted us at the door. The man gave us a rundown of the shop and meats they provide, many of which are from their own farm! The beef, pork and seafood selection was fantastic. We got some all purpose seasoning (already tried on smoked chicken and it was BOMB), mustard, cheeses and beef short ribs. Haven't cooked them yet but they look phenomenal and the staff gave us some ideas on how to prepare them. We will definitely be back to this gem for meats and locally made products!

A couple years ago I made the decision to start buying meet from a butcher. I've been going to the Moody's location near Geist since then. So I was thrilled to see Moody's was opening a shop in Nora! I stopped by on Monday to stock my freezer with their 20% off freezer sale every Monday. This location has a beautiful selection of local products in addition to the meat. From vegetables to spices to jellies and many things in between, Moody's has really worked hard to provide unique products at their shop. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. There is also a rewards program that offers $10 off for every $140 you spend. With all that and weekly deals on specialty cuts and meats, Moody's is a must stop for your summer grill out!You'll never buy meat elsewhere again!

I love the chicken breasts here. I also love the chicken bombs. They are delicious on the grill or fried in a pan. I usually buy the bone in pork chops too. Very tasty. I have tried a variety of their stuff and cannot complain about any of the food. I usually shop at the Zionsville Market. The last couple of times I've been in, the older gentleman behind the meat counter has not been very friendly or helpful. Almost rude. Makes me think he doesn't want my business. The young gentleman is very friendly. Everyone else is great! I have also shopped at the store in Nora. Those ladies working there were extremely helpful and friendly. They do have some things you can't buy in other stores. Check it out!

I really like Moodys for special occasions. So I don't shop there frequently, and it's been a while. I stopped in to buy some steaks and there was no price per pound on the items within the glass counter. Some of the cheaper items like chicken wings were marked on the signage within the case. The freezer section items were properly marked. I understand that Indiana doesn't have a law regarding displaying of prices. However, the lack of transparency on the pricing just doesn't feel right. As I had to ask regarding many different cuts of meats. NIST SP 1181: Unit Pricing Guide "A Best Practice Approach to Unit Pricing" (2015) was an interesting read.

Very helpful staff who even told me how to cook the chicken drops -- excellent small chicken breast stuffed with jalapeño pepper. I was able to buy 2 which was the right amount for my husband & I. Take time to look around at the other items. There's frozen meat & seafood too. They do have a reward program which helps.
