The city has really invested a lot into this area. It is booming with interactive murals and sculptures. I like this area. It runs along the Monon Trail and is home to the amazing sculptures Sails and Love at First Ride. There is also an interactive selfie mural in the area on the reverse side of a big screen. You will find a decent small play area on Monon Blvd that has a small rock climbing wall, a slide, a luckey climber, a colorful ping-pong table, a spray plaza, bocce ball courts, and a shuffle board. The play area is lined with green artificial grass and is very clean and trendy. You will also find some tables and chairs with umbrellas out in this area to sit and eat along the street and in the plaza. You can also sit on the area's benches, if you so choose. But wait, there's more...there is also hand sanitizer stations. There are a lot of trendy restaurants and business located in the plaza such as La Margarita, Java House Coffee Bar, PI and Sun King Spirits. It is an awesome place to hang out. I really like this area. They host movies there every Monday and live music every Tuesday as part of Midday at Midtown. They have been also known to host events like Midtown's Got Talent. There is free street parking all along Monon Blvd and a garage is available to park within a very short walk.I cannot stress enough how nice the area is. The trail is awesome going through there. One of the better stretches. The equipment, furniture, and landscaping is world class. You will have to see it to believe it. It is amazing. I wish I could give it a 6th star. This is a really nice spot that the city should really be proud about. I visited during the winter when it was not really happening. I cannot wait to come back during warmer weather.

We use the playground often in the warmer months. It's a nice place to meet other parents and their kids. Adults can sit back at a table and enjoy a coffee while the kids play on the sturdy, fun and beautiful looking playground equipment.Only issue is you have to really be careful about traffic on the trail right next to the playground... the bikers and runners that is. They are not looking out for your kid that might stumble onto the trail for a second. The plants on the trail are well maintained as are the fountains (that your kids can run through). The entire area is lovely to look at and sit and people watch to a while. More downtown areas need spaces like this (hint, hint, Indy).

Midtown Carmel is a great area for families. There is so much for young kids to do, and it's all free, and it's all well-taken-care-of and thoughtfully planned, and the vibe is just very chill and relaxed. There's a playground with a climbing structure and rock-climbing feature built into the Astroturf. There's a big slide, and lots of things to climb on. There's a bocce ball court, and ping pong tables, and shuffle board, and corn hole. There are two small splash pads that are perfect for toddlers and babies, because the water just barely bubble up. There are lots of tables and places to sit. There's public art everywhere, and an outdoor big-screen TV that shows family movies on certain days, and sporting events on other days. There are great places to eat and drink, namely the Sun King food hall. I'm trying to think of all of the things that make Midtown Carmel great, and these are some of them, but I know I'm missing a lot. Just visit and you'll see. Carmel has really made this area a great destination, and a big reason to visit Carmel.

I've seen Midtown Plaza on the Fox59 weather report so many times but this was my first time visiting in person. It's so much cooler than it looks on tv.It was packed when we stopped in around 7pm on a Saturday. There were so many families, young adults, and older couples. It's really a welcoming space for anyone of any age. We enjoyed just sitting by the fire pit watching the trivia on the screen and learning all about Carmel. You have so many food options nearby to choose from, you really can't go wrong.

This is new hot gathering spot in the downtown Carmel area! On a nice summer evening, this area is packed with people playing ping pong, sitting on swings and benches and outdoor sofas. You can bring food from Sun King Spirits out on the plaza to enjoy, and grab a soft drink or alcoholic beverage from the Sun King Pro Shop inside. Here you'll also find Fork + Ale and coming soon, Penn and Beech Candle Company.Walk north and south along the Monon Boulevard and you'll see how it's truly transformed in the past two years as a destination for walkers, runners, cyclists and families. We are so lucky to have this area here in Carmel. Keep an eye out for special events, movie nights and sports broadcasts.

I tried really hard to find "plaza" or "public [something]" but nothing really seemed to fit. While I'm reasonably certain this is maintained by the Carmel Redevelopment Commission or the City of Carmel and not the Parks Department, I decided to go with Parks as the filing for now.Midtown Plaza is a great gathering place sandwiched between an active Monon Boulevard and a couple of restaurants (hopefully more in the coming years). The great thing about the plaza is you don't have to be a customer of Sun King Spirits or Fork & Ale to come here. In fact their outdoor dining areas have boundaries to them. You can pack your own food (and drink!) or not comsume anything at all. There is a big screen TV that broadcasts movies, television events, and more. There are benches, grass, corn hole, pool and other game tables, and a decent sized performance stage. .There is ample bike parking along the Monon, and public restrooms are facing the street built into the sides of the parking garage. While I love the plaza, I think the grass constantly dying (sad) due to active use (good) means it should probably be replaced with astroturf. I also wouldn't mind some vending machines in the area for people to easily grab a drink or snack. Place them along side the restrooms in a nice, well lit area. That said, this is still an excellent public gathering place that is greatly appreciated in the heart of Carmel. We need more of this throughout metro Indy.

This plaza, located in the heart of Carmel and surrounded by Sun King Spirits, Fork + Ale, the Monon and a parking garage, has recently become a hub for people of all ages to relax. Packed with swings, twirly chairs, lounge chairs, tables, ping pong tables, a movie screen and more, there is truly something for everyone to do. You can snag a drink or food from the surrounding restaurants and eat it out on this plaza as well. It's easy to get to, as you can use the bike or walking path on the Monon to arrive, or park in the neighboring garage (free) if you drive. Downtown Carmel is located within walking distance, as is the historical society, fire truck museum, and more. Wander around and you'll run into entertainment!

Carmel has built this amazing plaza where the community can get together to eat, drink, and be merry. There are restaurants, pubs, massive screens/TVs, fire pits, table tennis tables, reclining chairs, etc.The best description and biggest compliment is from a friend of mine visiting from outside Carmel: This is something Google would build.

Carmel has grown in so many different ways over the years. Especially in the downtown area; finally it's looking cohesive between the Art and Design District and City Center areas. It was really well thought out along the monon trail, great mixed area for either adults looking for a night out or families. The courtyard is surrounded with really cool, laid back restaurants and shops. Within the quad, there's a big screen for movies, outdoor games (ping pong and pool), and tons of seatings. Also along the monon is a super fun "splash pad", which my daughter especially enjoyed. Really cool activity is Movie Monday's, when through the day (checkout their Facebook for screening times) they play a family friendly movie on the giant screen. Perfect to grab some grub from either one of the micro-restaurants within Sun King or Fork + Ale and enjoy a movie.

This is the place that young adults have been craving. I like in Fishers but will gladly drive to Midtown Carmel anytime. There are so many things that make this so special: -easy access: with it being on the monon & near the arts district, it can be easily accessed on foot, bike or car. -sitting options: this is not just a table & chairs type place. There's bench swings, lounge chairs, couches. When you have so much variety, it makes it more appealing to try out. -surrounded by food options: if there are good food spots nearby, nothing's more tempting than getting takeout & sitting outside! -entertainment options: there's a big screen for movies, ping-pong tables, and an open green space that I've seen people using for volleyball. I love how much and how often the young adult community gathers here. This is exactly what we needed!
