a pizza with cheese and ham
Really.....
Pizza!
Breadsticks I received from Maurizio's tonight! Got all they way home to find this burnt mess! Unacceptable!
Great pizza
Uncooked and flavorless crust.
So cheesy and great toppings!
Uncooked and flavorless crust.
Unappetizing breadsticks. Too much salt, and too much of an uncooked dough and flour taste.

Wow.. I used to love this place as a kid. Sad to see that this pizza was pretty bad. Sauce and crust were literally tasteless. I'm so bummed.

Hungry? You wont be for days if you order a 747! We ordered the special 747 and a meat lovers Sicilian 747 and it was delicious and, as you would expect, THERE IS A LOT OF IT! Great value, great pizza, great service. Thank you!

Tried to give them one last chance. Ordered a meat lovers, green olives extra sauce. I live almost a half hour away and when I get it home, no olives, only half the meats, no extra sauce. Crust was soggy as could be. They just don't hold a candle to their namesake 20 miles down the road. I will go to that one, it's always great, but this one, never again.

Love the Sicilian Style pizza! Got the regular 747 for years until I had a friend recommend the Sicilian and we would never go back! I do wish the mushrooms were fresh instead of canned but my husband loves the canned. Be prepared to be thirsty the day after due to the high sodium but as an occasional splurge it is well worth it!

After ordering pizza from Maurizio's, I was left wanting a little more. The pizza itself was fine, but there just wasn't much to it. There was almost no sauce and none of the flavors popped. It filled me up fine and the cost was nothing extraordinary, but I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

I ordered a small pizza with mushrooms, black olives, and Italian sausage. It was tasty. Definitely got skimped on the sausage, though lol. asides: - service: My waiter was very friendly. It is a spot where you take care of yourself once you've been, served, though. Not a fan of that, conceptually, for a restaurant. My pizza did take a kind of long time to come, in spite of having ordered the 10" and having arrived right as the restaurant opened, so I would not suggest going here if you're even slightly in a hurry. - ambience: Exterior is ugly and does not strike you as a place of business, at all. Interior is a bit cramped. It was clean, but I was their first customer of the day, so. - revisit: Gonna try some other pizza places in town, and see if anything "wows" me. Hopefully I can find a place that isn't stingy with their meat toppings lol.

If you ask most Terre Hautians (I made that up!) where to grab a good pizza, there's a pretty good chance that most are going to answer Maurizio's, Maurizio's is located in a freestanding building that could easily be described as divey. So, I guess I'll call it divey. It has a casual Italian feeling to it and, indeed, as soon as my road crew, a local, posted that she was taking me to Maurizio's she had several comments from very envious friends. Maurizio's has a pretty casual parking situation. While they have a private lot, spots aren't really marked. So, if you require accessibility it's probably best to park a bit away from the building. I didn't really have any issues, but I was aware that issues could easily develop during crowded times. The building itself falls incredibly short of accessibility. There's a handful of tables in the main room that can be used by a wheelchair. The booths have a step up into them, while the side rooms have narrow doors and at least one had a step into it. The bathroom? While I didn't actually try, it was in a narrow hallway with a very narrow doorway. My gut said "impossible." However, I was able to find a table and you order at a counter that is accessible. They then bring your pizza to you if you're dining in. We ordered a medium pizza - 1/2 with sausage/pepperoni for me and 1/2 added black olives for my roadie. We also ordered an order of breadsticks - mainly because my roadie wanted me to try them. As I'd been wheeling all day, I was both tired and hungry. While 1/2 a pizza probably wasn't a great idea, it was good and I was hungry. Topping distribution is generous and the relatively thin, truly New York-style pizza was just about the perfect size for my appetite. I honestly didn't have much problem finishing my half. The breadsticks? They were truly delicious. They had a lightness to them that was refreshingly different from the usual doughy debacles that one often gets. When I think about going back, I actually think about the breadsticks first. I had my usual unsweetened iced tea - and, yes, I did get refills. I must admit that part of me wants to go for a 3-star rating - primarily because I found the accessibility concerns irritating. That said, it actually did work for me and it seems absurd to knock a star off for something that "might" be a problem. The pizza was good, not the best I've ever had but good, and I enjoyed both the casual atmosphere and the low-key but friendly service. Despite my concerns about accessibility, I actually wouldn't hesitate to go back. As a tip, if you have a large party, they are known for their "747," a super large pizza that my roadie stated she usually takes home with her whenever she's in the area and it's just as good the next day. Maurizio's is probably one of the meals I remember most from my week long trip - that has to be a great sign and a good enough reason for me to move it up a notch and stick with the 4-star rating.
