Great course! Only improvement I could recommend would be drink carts out on the course.

Nice course. $3 for 25 balls at the driving range is a bit stiff. Carts could use updating - no wind/rain screens and no GPS but handled well. 16 of us played in a scramble. Torrential rains compromised a couple of low lying fairways but the greens were good: fast with tricky slopes. Unfortunately we only played 7-9 holes before rains washed us out. We got 9 hole rain checks which never expire.

Golf is all about catching up with friends and catching a buzz and I had a great time doing both here. The Bloody Mary's are awesome. I had a challenging time finding the fairways. A handful of blind tee shots will leave the first timer at this course guessing. Is it scenic? Yes it's a nice course with some beautiful tee box views, but I wouldn't call it the most scenic golf course in Indiana.Greens: 4.3/5Fairways: 4.1/5Tees: 4/5Bloody Mary's: 5/5 I paid $42 for a weekend morning rate which is total adequate for this course.

This is the best golf course in the state. My husband and son spend a lot of time here. I highly recommend it

Many many serious golfers in Indiana will tell you this is their favorite golf course in Indiana. It may be mine as well. Why? It is just beautiful. The course used to be an old country club course located in the valley created as the White River meanders through southern Indiana. As you go south from Indianapolis toward Bloomington and beyond, the typically flat terrain of the state becomes progressively hilly. Martinsville Golf Club has a hilly feel, but also benefits from the serene river valley setting. There is a lot of wildlife, many ancient trees, butterflies, birds, creeks with frogs, all in an area that seems set off and remote from the rest of the world. However, it also retains some of the faded grandeur of its country club past such as a classic clubhouse with a shady porch, vast trees, an uncrowded feel and some huge, holes that haven't been pretified by unecessary artifices. The holes on this course are so distinct, challenging, and memorable that if you play it, like me, at least one of your favorite golf holes on any golf course will be here. Best of all its open to the public and around $25 for 18 (walking).

Played this gem today while visiting IU. A group of 3 let me tag along which made the round much more enjoyable. The course itself was in great shape. It's an older and mature course that does not disappoint. Great value for the money, I will be back. The staff was friendly on top of everything else.

The former Martinsville Country Club- founded in 1925.This is a public course- but very nice. I am going to be getting golf lessons from Sam Carmichael-the owner who bought the club with his partners and wife in 1969 (he grew up on the course as his dad was the golf pro -who when young also worked as a caddy when it was a private club).Sam Carmichael served as men's golf coach at Indiana University from 1990-98 and women's golf coach from 1981-2004. He also played in the PGA from 1962-69 and played in 7 U.S. Opens. He was named as Indiana's Player of the Year by the PGA in 1972 and inducted into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame in 1973. Sam is the #6 PGA Golf Instructor in Indiana. Get a lesson from him- I am sure he can improve your game. Playing nine or 18 holes with a cart is a good deal- look at the website. It is well worth a trip if you are driving between Bloomington and Indianapolis on Highway 37.
