Marbles is a staple from my childhood. Even in my late 30s, I still remember those days of Mr Marble back in the kitchen with his chef hat on, and a smile on his face that showed a hint of a gold open capped tooth. My grandmother, with her long painted fingernails, would always talk to him like they had long been best friends before placing her order and telling me to get what I wanted. I would struggle to peak above the cafeteria style set up to see what food was being offered, and we would always share a container of their peach cobbler, which was the ongoing best cobbler I had in my life for a many years. I still today believe there used to be apples mixed up in it, and that was what gave me my love for mixing apples in various dishes. Marbles has gone through a lot of changes, deaths and evolving spirits and they are only open on the weekends if I'm not mistaken. I went in there this past Saturday for the first time in well over a year. Nothing had changed. You still hear the bell ring when the door opens, the flooding smell of soul and baking and frying and probably unhealthy food options greets the growling stomach to no surprise. I ordered peppered steak and dressing, along with fried corn and mac & cheese. While I noticed a small difference in the flavor, it was nothing to be disappointed in. I could still taste the soulful sounds of my childhood through my tastebuds. It was great! Once I started, I couldn't stop. I even ordered the cobbler but didn't notice or taste any apples this time. I would gladly go back. Soul food is a hard restaurant to keep satisfied customers. It's always expensive and people want to feel like the money they paid is very satisfied with their choices. My money was satisfied and my stomach was happy. And my memories of going in the ringing door at Marbles Southern Cookery with my grandmother still felt vivid, alive and beautiful. Thank you Marbles

This place has been closed for several years now. Before it closed the food was not good at all! I spent $20 on a meal and it tasted so bad that I couldn't eat it. It was way too salty and just had a terrible taste.

This is the worst experience I have had at a soul food restaurant!! While the woman behind the counter was nice, that was the only positive thing about our visit. All of the food sat behind a glass that we couldn't even see through, due to condensation. HOW CAN YOU SEE WHAT LOOKS GOOD?! Anyway, I ordered meatloaf, macaroni and corn. The corn was actually good, but the Mac and cheese tasted like there was garlic and not enough cheese in it. The meatloaf looked like dog food with brown gravy. ISN'T MEATLOAF SUPPOSED TO HAVE RED SAUCE?My BF had fried chicken, macaroni and mashed potatoes. The lady re-dipped the chicken in the grease to warm it up. She warmed up the mashed potatoes in a microwave .To top all of this off, they literally HAD A DOG IN THE KITCHEN!!!! It barked! I looked over and it was standing by the deep fryer, and it walked toward the kitchen.Needless to say, we won't be back! Hope this helped!

This is usually my extra wonderful cherry on top of a good Sunday filled with worship... but whomever was cooking the sides, on 8/9/20, please be mindful and add some seasonings to the veggies next time you're in the kitchen. The green beans, cabbage and greens had no flavor at all. Hope this is just a hiccup and only happens sparingly.

A couple of times a coworker and I have called to check the menu, each time we decided not to order because the person answering the phone was so rude & disrespectfully short. Then one day we were like forget calling we'll just go. The smothered pork chops where not cooked all the way. We had to finish cooking it in the oven.

After reading the previous reviews on here I was very confused after my visit. To keep it short and honest, the food was not delicious. I've had better. The food was priced too high. The customer service could have been way better. I would not recommend this place and I will not be returning.

Marble's makes the best fried chicken that I've ever had. If you have a craving for soul food, this will definitely hit the spot. From cornbread wrapped in white wax paper to glorious mac and cheese and unreal desserts, this place has amazing food. The peach cobbler is something of an urban legend. Everything is served a-la-carte from a hot plate cafeteria style. The decor is spartan but appropriate. The hours change, so I'd call ahead.

Don't know why they were closed for a while. The food is just as good as it always was. Wouldn't mind seeing them open all week, but two days will have to do I guess.
