I recently had the pleasure of dining at Major Restaurant in Indianapolis and I must say, it was an absolute delight. This restaurant truly offers the best East African cuisine in town. The flavors, the spices, and the presentation of the dishes were all top-notch.One dish that has become my absolute favorite is the veggie combo. It has now become my go-to staple whenever I visit Major Restaurant., The variety of vegetables, the perfect blend of spices, and the freshness of the ingredients really make this dish stand out.The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, and the staff is attentive and friendly The service was impeccable, and I felt like a valued guest throughout my entire dining experience.I highly recommend Major Restaurant to anyone looking for authentic and delicious East African food. It truly deserves a 5-star rating and I cannot wait to visit again soon.

Fantastic food! The chef should be proud. The dining area is very dated, but well cleaned and maintained. Service was slow but friendly and relatively attentive. It was a good meal.

I got the vegetarian combo, which is vegan. I like doing this because it allows me to discover which dishes I like the most. It served its purpose. At most Ethiopian restaurants, I gravitate towards spicy Misir Wot, Tikkil Gomen, Fasolia, and Gomen. Major mixes Ethiopian and Eritrean so the spellings differ. At Major I've discovered that I like their mild Misir Wot, Quosta (spinach), and Tikil Gomen best. They have a Dinich Wot, which I tried in mild and spicy versions. I'm a spicy fan but the mild was more flavorful. They were out of the cabbage sambussas every time I went, so I got the lentil sambussas. They're delicious! Served with a spicy jalapeño garlic sauce that I need in a 16oz bottle. So yummy!

This is a place where you don't want to judge a book by its cover. You pulled into a plaza that looks a little run down but it is cute when you walk inside. They were friendly and the food service is not rushed. The lentil samosa was good, it is a little dry but with the sauce is perfect. The veggie combo was really yummy - we love all the lentils, collard greens and green beans. The shrimp dish was really good with lots of flavor. The spicy chicken dish was good but could have been spicier. The only downside was the price. It was an expensive meal.

Mushroom sambussa was the favorite. It was juicy and flavorful inside, with a crispy exterior. The lentil sambussa was a bit dry, but had good flavor. The spicy red lentils with injera bread entree was great. It's usually my go-to in vegetarian platters, so I decided to just order the entree. This one included green lentils and stewed greens, which was a nice complement to the red lentils. Flavors were good and the spice level was a mild/medium. The injera bread was not as light as I'm used to, but it was still good. The interior is spacious with a nice ambiance. There's plenty of parking in front.

Great and friendly service. Nice ambience too! I just wish their food was spiced a little more, but the server gave us some green pepper sauce that did just the trick. Had the vegetarian combo for one, which is enough for two. Injera was perfect.

I love this place, that is all.Ok to elaborate, I love Ethiopian food and this hits the spot among all the choices in Indy. Usually only do take-out so can't speak to the ambiance or in-person service. Definitely will dine in if I'm ever in the area for long!

The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was low lit and quiet. Not many people were there, so I hope they have plenty of business! We will definitely be back!

This place is in a pretty run-down looking strip on the outskirts of the city, but sometimes that's where you have to go to expand your culinary horizons. They label themselves as East African, and the decor cites both Ethiopia and Eritrea. For those unfamiliar with the cuisine, they do have some Italian pasta dishes (tracing back to an Italian occupation), but the core is based around various stews which are delivered on a large spongy flatbread, which is torn apart and used to mop up the food.Like most of these places, they offer a veggie combo, and this was one of the best ones I've ever had. It was absolutely gigantic and contained a variety of beans and greens with various spices. Two hot sauces were also included, and they do not mess around with hot sauce. My chai tea was pretty tasty, but as it was hot it was tough to drink with a mouth burning from hot sauce. All the little veggie stews delivered on flavor, including a bit of shiro, a chickpea paste often excluded from these sorts of combo dishes. They had some great-looking savory pastries, but I think my stomach would have exploded. While this is finger food, they do bring out some alcohol wipes at the end to clean up, as most of the best places do. I would have been satisfied with a lesser experience, particularly in Indianapolis, but I was genuinely impressed.
