I came across this bookstore on a list of Black owned bookstores and since it was close to home, I had to go check it out. It's very cute and cozy and they had a great selection of books to choose from. A lot of these books are on my TBR list so I had a hard time choosing. Cassie was really warm and friendly and she helped me find a book to suit my current reading mood. She also had lots of great recommendations that I added to my reading list for later. I look forward to my next visit. Fyi- If you plan on visiting, you should utilize the street parking and not the parking lot next-door as that is resident parking and they will tow your car.

I'm a fan of a good bookstore and especially one that is local and owned by a woman! Leah Johnson owner and author opened Loudmouth here in Indy. This charming corner holds everything you ever wanted in a bookstore. They have a ton of new LGBTQIA+ books that you should absolutely read and add to your home library. It's so important to support this community and I will do everything in my power to make this happy reading place stay in Indy. Not only do they have shelves full of books for all ages and all genres but they have the cutest little bags, stickers and button collections in their store front. A great place to read, bring your kids for readings, and join the book club!

I've been meaning to stop in here and finally had the chance, it's a beautiful space with very friendly service, they offer a wide selection of books, with many topics that I don't feel like you don't see in big box stores which I appreciate, they also have stickers, buttons and bags! Stop in if you have the chance, there is something for everyone!

Are you a literary loudmouth? Do you crave original voices? Do you tend to shy away from mass retail in favor of the indie voice? Then, Loudmouth Books may very well be for you. Started by Indy based bestselling author Leah Johnson, Loudmouth Books is an independently owned and operated bookstore and community space. Loudmouth hosts author events, children's story hour, and other events all free and open to the public. The goal is simple - increasing access to diverse literature for all Hoosiers including, yes, ensuring access to banned books. Loudmouth is "a Black, queer, woman-owned Indianapolis-based independent bookstore dedicated to highlighting banned books and uplifting the work of marginalized authors." As a disabled author who has written regularly about such things as sexual violence, disability/ableism, and loss/grief, my creative heart longs for a place like Loudmouth Books. We say we want the independent bookstores, but do we go out of our way to support them? The presence of a place like Loudmouth Books brings my heart joy, but that joy is meaningless if I don't support it. So, even though I'm only a few weeks past major cancer surgery I had to stop by one day after a clinic appointment to support this up-and-comer. Loudmouth is surprisingly accessible (there's a bit of a lip at the door) and easy to get around. It's a relatively small bookstore with books and gifts (check out the candles - perfection). You can also support them on Bookshop.org. The employee when I was here was super friendly and helpful. I've yet to attend an event here, though I certainly plan to do so. Loudmouth is pretty darn close to Dream Palace. There's easily room for both. They both have unique vibes and deserve our love. I'm excited about the resurgence of the indie bookstore in Indy. I first got my big boost as a writer from Dreams & Swords in Broad Ripple and will forever be grateful for those bookstores that empower the indie voice. Started in response "ongoing book banning attacks that target BIPOC and queer books and authors. At Loudmouth, we'll always loudly and proudly proclaim our passion for stories by, for, and about marginalized people," says Johnson. Count me in. I'll be back.

I am so glad that Indy is getting more small bookstores and Loudmouth Books is an incredible addition to the community! It's owned by local author Leah Johnson and focuses on minority authors and banned books. The curation is incredible and the space is designed thoughtfully. It's small but mighty and never feels overcrowded. I love how bright it is and the children's section is adorable. Such a great bookstore! Perfect for browsing or gifts!

Omg the most beautiful colorful joyful store! I have been following on instagram since they opened, but finally visited during the Indy indie bookstore crawl and fell in love! It was pretty crowded that day so I look forward to visiting on a normal day and really taking my time.I love all the color and highlight a diverse range of authors and genres. The kid's area with a little tent is so cute too. Fun gift section too. The inside just screams "joyful" to me so I think it would be a fun place to go if you need a little pick me up!

Thanks to a recommendation from a friend I knew I needed to visit Loudmouth, sooner rather than later. Initial thoughts, this is my kinda book store let's take a moment to appreciate how cute this store is. It's really cozy which I love but they were busy and I would've loved to have a spot to just sit and read. I love the vibe and they have a decent selection. The children's selections were interesting and I can't wait to come back with my kids. One thing I really appreciated about this place was the staff. They were super enthusiastic and gave me so many recommendations. Another plus they have multiple book clubs. I'd join them all if I could but if you love books you must stop by.

Popped in for a few gifts and really loved it. Lots more than books. Cute candles, bags, pins, all sorts of neat stuff. The style of the shop was sooooo fun (see the bathroom!) and the staff was incredibly helpful.

10/10 beautiful book store. I keep watching their Instagram and found their first sip and shop last night where there was an apple cider and hot chocolate bar. Love looking at books and sipping a cozy beverage. Also their sticker game is INSANE. I keep walking out with more stickers than I intend because they're SO GOOD.

It's an absolute joy to go to Loudmouth. Despite being a relatively small bookstore, the interior is bright, inviting and joyful and the staff is always friendly and engaging. I admire the mission of the store, which is to spotlight books by BIPOC/authors from underrepresented communities and appreciate how this differentiates Loudmouth from other local bookstores in the area. I also think they have the most creative and engaging events/programming in the area. Not only do they have monthly book clubs, but they have regular literary trivia nights which are fun and intimate and they recently hosted Congressman Beto O'Rourke for a talk and meet & greet. I'm so glad Loudmouth is part of the Indy community!
