Mushroom fajitas sans cheese. Kind of light on the mushrooms this time.
Vegetarian Chimichanga - Okay, but the mushroom fajitas are better.

There are two Los Tres Caminos locations in Peru, so it appears some of the photos and reviews here are actually for the other location on Main Street. I have been to this location on Broadway three times over the past 2+ years, and while I'm not completely impressed, it IS much better than the Main Street "mini mall" location with deep stores and long hallways where the old Kroger used to be. I've definitely had better fajitas elsewhere in Indy, etc. for a better price, but I have also, admittedly, had far worse once upon a time. These are heavy on the bell peppers, onion, and cooked tomatoes with not as many mushrooms as you might expect. Decent portion, but at around $11, I feel it's always been too highly priced. I paid $6-7 in Indy.Their foil wrapped flour tortillas are good. I can make much better guacamole myself at home, but it's okay as a side combined with other flavors, just not as an appetizer alone with chips. The rice is good but different from any other Spanish or Mexican rice I've had elsewhere because of the addition of peas and carrots. Oddly pale refried beans last visit but tasted alright. The salsa isn't consistent with heat from visit to visit. The Tapatio on the table is a familiar favorite though I don't use much these days. I didn't try the habanero sauce. I've been told the white queso is good. I think it's a bit pricey at over $3 for a tiny bowl. It's not something I'd try anyway. For some reason, the margaritas here are better than the ones on Main Street as well. A different mix being used perhaps? But again, I can make far, far better. Somewhat off flavor. Needs more lime juice?? Not a super fresh lime garnish. Not enough salt on the rim at all. Do NOT get the large unless you have hours to kill. Not only is it the size of a fishbowl, it's too expensive at $11. I didn't realize how huge or expensive it was going to be when I ordered and had instant regret once I saw it. I wish I'd just gotten a beer. This location has slightly better ambiance. The staff are on about the same level of average service at both until my last visit here. The waiter, whom my friend and I both tipped generously on separate checks because he had been attentive, maybe even overly so, had the audacity to ask if she was my mom on our way out after we paid. I have no idea if he even understood how rude that was. I learned a long time ago in hospitality, bar, and food service, as well as in life in general, you never make assumptions about anyone's age nor relationship. I hadn't been in about a year. It's okay, but I wouldn't rush to return unless desperate for a place to sit and eat. There are absolutely no good options nor variety in Peru. If for some reason you are thinking of moving here and like to eat, DONT. Sadly, this IS the best restaurant option in town that I've found.I might have given three stars, as I may have been able to let all the other critiques slide, but that last waiter had some real nerve after receiving a 35% tip, so his offensiveness tipped the star scales down. I have buyer's remorse for sure and wish I'd just stayed home. My bathroom is nicer, too.

Gross. I ordered the taco salad as a take out order as I was driving thru this area. The meat in the taco salad was barely seasoned, one slice of tomato was laid on top, the white cheese was in clumps. The salsa that came on the side was one step above tomato sauce-- bland and smooth. But the real deal breaker was the black chunk of something I found in the taco meat. Could not identify but maybe part of a button?? Two thumbs down.I almost forgot a very important thing---- the taco shell tasted like cleaner had been sprayed on it or in the vicinity of it!!!

I enjoyed our meal at Los Tres Camino's. The service was attentive without being pushy, friendly and informed. The food was okay but very, very salty. Portions were generous. Particularly for a small town Mexican restaurant, there's every reason to go back.

This isn't Mexican food, this is what white people think is Mexican food. Ordered the steak Colorado. The red sauce was basically water, tasted like water, which drowned the entire plate.Everything was watered down, including their 'salsa'. Who puts carrots and peas in Mexican Rice? Their refried beans were watered down and either old or reheated added with salt.Won't return.

I've eaten at both locations several times. Food is inexpensive, served quickly, and really good. Now, like buying fresh Red Snapper in Burbank Ca. that is only hours old...you cannot expect 'authentic' Mexican food in Indiana...but this is real close. Snobs need not apply. In fact, I highly recommend a tall Modelo on tap to chill you out, then eat...and eat...

A bunch of us from the Indianapolis Hiking Group (19) decided to hike in and around Peru (the birthplace of the late, great Cole Porter) today to commemorate Cole Porter's birthday which was on June 9th. There were plenty of celebrations around town and we hiked around 9 miles on streets, wooded areas, and along the Wabash River. The good folks at the Museum in town educated us on the life of Cole Porter and recommended several places for us to eat and about 4 of us decided to go to Los Tres Caminos.Let me start out by saying that our server was a very pleasant young man who did a great job of keeping up with 4 VERY hungry people...the chips and salsa kept coming :-)They even custom-made a Cherry Coke for one of our hikers. Two of us ordered the Quesedilla Mazatlan which was yummy. The other two ordered chimichungas with rice and beans from the a la carte menu.Prices were very good, food was very good, service was very good. What can I say. I'll be back the next time I'm in Peru :-)

Pros: Close to where I'm working fo the summer, super fast and friendly service, reasonable lunch prices.Cons: possibly the blandest Mexican food I've ever eaten in my life. Watery beans. Rice with shriveled peas and carrots. Vinegary, not-hot salsa. It is basically exactly what you would expect a Mexican restaurant in Peru, IN to be. No pleasant surprises here. It's so mediocre I can't even call it bad. It's just kind of ... blah.

Great Mexican food. Service quick, beer cold and atmosphere good. Do you like hot sauce? They have different kinds and can get spicy.
