Lahody Meats

I am always happy to visit Lahody Meats. I don't know anywhere else that I can get thick pork steaks for the grill, and no one raises and no one there raises an eyebrow. The selection of meat is always delicious. They have a fabulous selection of cheeses, dips, salads and all you could want to fill in a charcuterie board or appetizer spread or finalize your picnic or BBQ. Try the Toronto seasoning...better than Montreal Seasoning. Finally, they have the amazing smoked pork chops: warm them or eat them cold. I would add a picture, but my hands are always too full!

I have been buying my meat from here for a while now and have never been disappointed! The smoked chops are great and the ground beef is the best ( also cheep ). Now I decided to treat my wife and kids to a real steak and I knew right where to go to pick them up. I got the Lahody cut bone in steak that the gods sent down from the heavens to Lahody meats then to my grill! It was a little pricey but in this case you really get what you pay for! The staff was really friendly and helpful so I definitely recommend stopping by and supporting your local Butcher.

Amazing quality of meat and the price is unbeatable! They also have a selection of deli meat and a very small selection of fruit and vegetables which I wasn't surprised since the building is pretty small. However , the have some selections you could pick up really quick if needed. Lahody Meats is right around the corner from me so it's very convenient to stop by here really quick for me. Only downside is they close earlish. But their pork chops, bacon wrapped filets, New York strips , not to mention their homemade seasonings and pickles (which I'm obsessed with). For being a college student , Lahody is great when you're on a budget and still want good quality meat is a win win in my book!

Lahody's is like the neighborhood butchers that used to exist 50 years ago ever few blocks. Not that I was alive back then! The staff here is very knowledgeable... particularly Matt. Ron is also great guy--he can be a bit gruff at times, but he was a Marine. They always have top quality meats--most of which they source from the Midwest. I appreciate being able to buy meat from Indiana. We always come here for holiday meat--if you want a local turkey, standing rib roast, rack of lamb, or bone-in ham, this is the go-to place in Muncie. They also make some sausages and brats that are pretty good. I haven't bought seafood from here--but it looks pretty good from what I can see. They also have boar's head lunch meats and make some pretty mean sandwiches (out of Gonella bread from Chicago). There is also amish butter and eggs and ham salad and cheese and stuff like that. They have good, though limited, produce (onions, potatoes, carrots, cabbage most of the time).I like dealing with a local business where people know my name. I'd highly recommend going here if you are in Muncie.

Absolutely my favorite place to buy good meet. Ron Lahody and his crew are always very helpful. I ordered my Thanksgiving turkey there for the fifth year in a row. Always fresh and not full of chemicals. This year Ron spatchcocked it for me at no additional cost. I am looking forward to cooking this bird and watching my family enjoy itIn addition to the wonderful selection of meat and vegetables, from time to time Ron has fresh oysters. This Thanksgiving we will add oysters on the half shell to our Thanksgiving celebration!

This review is strictly based on their service as I haven't had a chance to try the meats yet. We were in Muncie for a quick weekend and decided to order an online bundle to take home with us. I didn't pay attention to the date of pick up, which was supposed to be two days after we left town. When I went to pick up the order at the time I thought it was supposed to be they said they didn't have it. Have a little research we figured out it wasn't scheduled till after we left town. They were great and got the order ready to be picked up the next morning, before we left town!! Not many places would do that, so thank you very much! We are excited to try everything we got!

Have never had an issue with the products I have bought here, however, customer service is not always the best. I have had issues with customer service in the store not being too friendly before. However this past Saturday I called to get the prices of 2 different meats. Not only was the lady on the phone rude but as she asked the price of the second meat I heard the person she asked loudly say "Oh my God, really". I understand maybe they were busy but still did not have to be rude. I will no longer be a customer there as I do not have to deal with rudeness.

I will never return to this store. After various bad experiences here for myself and my family I can stand firm on this review. Years back we went into Lahodys because our normal meat market, Fishers was closed since it was Sunday. Our first red flag was when we walked to the doors the doors were propped open and we were told their AC had went out. Ok, things happen, I get that. The smell was terrible which was what was most alarming. We purchased some ground beef among other things and that night I set out to make bacon, mushroom, and Swiss burgers. On the outside, the beef appeared normal. Once I pulled it apart to season and patty it, I noticed the beef in the center was brown. My husband and myself smelled it and it smelled fine so I cooked it. The taste was fine but later that night everyone who ate the hamburgers (we had friends over to eat) ended up with stomach cramps and a mean case of the number two's. fast forward a couple of years and we decided to try again. We get 2 steaks. Nothing more. Leave the store and go straight home, place them in the refrigerator. The next afternoon, not even a full 24 hours after purchasing them I grab the steaks out to season them before firing up the grill, unwrap them, and I am greeted by the brown dark looking steaks and a bad odor which is shown in the first 2 pictures. I showed my husband and we trashed them and decided on something else for dinner that night. The next day we went to Fishers and got two great looking steaks which I wish we had done from the beginning. I made a post about this on Facebook and one of my friends asked If I called to tell them because they always make it right. Yea that's great, I'm glad they make it right but how often is this happening because I've never had to take anything back to fishers. Heck, I've never even seen steaks from Walmart looking that bad. Needless to say, they won't be given a third chance to get me sick or waste my money and at this point they have a 100% fail rate. Shopped there 2 times and 2 times I've been given bad meat. Do better.

I really wish I hadn't stopped at this shop before the holidays. I've always enjoyed their meats and especially the rub they make.When I stopped before the holidays, the owner and an older gent were having a nice conversation in the middle of the store WITHOUT MASKS.I realize their are those who don't believe in mask wearing but when it's posted on the door that you can't enter without one....I think all of the employees especially the owner should be wearing them.To add insult to injury, the meat I bought that day was sub-par for this shop.
