Tiny little grocery store, hidden in a stripmall. Mostly Latin American goods, so if you are looking for anything specific to make empanadas, tacos, pupusas and so on, you can find it here. Also a few fresh vegetables, especially those that you would need for your aforementioned specialties. There is also a small meat counter where you can find those special meats needed for the Latinex cuisine. But never fear, your basic American groceries are also covered here. Milk, steak, pasta, spices... If you don't feel like tackling the huge supermarkets, this is a great alternative. In and our in a few minutes with loads of parking right out front.

This is a short and sweet review for a small grocery store located in a strip mall on the west side. We stumbled upon La Canasta after visiting the neighboring Salvadorian restaurant and Mexican Bakery (Artisan Bakery). La Canasta offers an assortment of beans, snacks, Mexican cheeses, produce (cactus, onions, zucchini, etc.), cold beverages and a few baked goods. We ended up picking up a few snacks for the road. I was most impressed by the bean selection. Note to self for the next time I'm whipping up pozole: they have canned tomatillos. Overall, the store is quite small and not the cleanest. I prefer Carniceria Guanajuato or a few other Mexican grocery stores we've frequented over this one.

Love to find these wonderful international groceries where I can pick up dried peppers, spices and tortillas. This one, while tiny, carries all the essentials and includes a meat counter and small produce section. The staff was very friendly and tried to help me translate fruit. They carried my favorite standard brand of peppers and spices. They carried a large selection of hot sauces. The meats looked fresh and interesting. There was an interesting selection of Latin American sodas and beverages, can goods and rice. The shelves were neat and tidy. Religious items including handmade rosaries were available near the front check out counter. The steps into the store are a little clunky and the aisles are tight. I'm guessing not ADA standards but I am not an expert. Great little store for specialty items.

What a lovely selection of Mexican and other foods! I wish that such stores were more readily available where I live, and we enjoyed browsing and shopping here for the ingredients to make tacos (along with some snacks as well). Yes it might seem cluttered, but that is all the more selection which is wonderful!
