Great sushi! Server was attentive. Missed going to the one in Carmel, so we drove this way for lunch. Missed it! Had the party tray and fancy jalapeño. Took half home for dinner.

I expect better food and service with these prices.My wife and I went out on a date here on a Friday evening. It's a rare occasion for us so we wanted to do something special. We made a reservation for 6:30pm and it took about 15 minutes before we were sat. The conjoined sitting areas ended up splitting up a party of 12 so two of their members were disconnected from the birthday celebration. This caused some confusion for the staff and some discontent among that party.Our server came to take our orders pretty quickly even though it was a packed restaurant. Everyone put in drink orders and food orders at the same time. We did not receive our drinks for about 25 minutes. The chef arrived and started cooking before we saw our server again, and he only had waters. Out of the 9 people sitting at our table, four ordered beers, and two ordered simple two ingredient cocktails. The drink service was awful and we never had the opportunity to order more because our server was unseen until it was time to bring the checks, which also took at least 25 minutes after everyone had finished eating. It felt as though they were understaffed.The chefs work back-to-back and we could hear and see that our chef was less energetic than the other party's, which was fine but it's just a luck of the draw on what kind of personality you are going to have. We had a bad start with the food as the rice was undercooked and crunchy. Everything else tasted great but the rice is served first and serves as a base as veggies, noodles, and meats are added to your plate. So it's an ever present portion that is constantly reminding you that this isn't a high quality experience.Overall, our expectations were not met for a steakhouse and I wish I could have saved my money for a restaurant with better food and better management.

We recently dined at Koto Japanese Steakhouse to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Overall, we were hoping for a special evening, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing.The positive: Our server was very kind, and our hibachi chef was excellent--engaging, entertaining, and did a great job with the food preparation. We had our twin 4-year-old grandsons with us, and the chef was especially great with them.However, one of my grandsons had an allergic reaction shortly after the soup and salad were served. His mouth started to get red and itchy, so my husband had to rush to a nearby drugstore to get Benadryl. I asked the server and cook about the ingredients in the salad dressing, and while they were helpful, I expected that a manager would come over to check on us, especially since it was an allergic reaction. But no one ever came to see if we were okay or if we needed anything.By the time my husband returned, his food was cold. Mine was cold as well because I was on the phone checking on my grandson. My daughter finished her meal, but our two adult children weren't able to fully enjoy their experience either, given the situation. It would have been nice if someone had acknowledged what was happening or even just checked in to show some care or concern.After spending $227, it felt like we were just rushed out without anyone saying thank you or recognizing that we were celebrating a special occasion. Thankfully, my grandson was okay, but we were left disappointed that what should have been a memorable celebration fell flat due to the lack of attention and care from the restaurant.

Always a pleasure. Friendly service. Clean. Full plates. I feel like the menu has shortened since my last visit, but definitely got what I came for. The soup and salad always fills me up so my plate is a taster with plenty of leftovers. A great place for friends to meet up who don't like sushi (because I don't, but my friends do). The rice is always cooked to perfection. Thank you Ivan for the excellent customer service!

I had an awesome time at Koto! Admittedly, I hesitated to come here because of some of the reviews but I'm glad I did. Our chef was one of the BEST I've had in years at a hibachi restaurant. He was so funny and kept the kiddos laughing. The food was hot and fresh and our waiter was very attentive. Once noticeable difference here (from your standard Benihana) is that you get noodles AND fried rice along with your veggies. There's plenty of food that is served and combo choices on the menu. The flavor was very good and I definitely won't hesitate to return again. Great choice for my family on a Sunday evening.

This review is for the service and not the meal. Our food was delicious as usual. They have two large dining rooms for Hibachi and while I understand this is a family restaurant I think one side should be adults only. The lobby was full of children when we arrived Friday night and they were all over the place unattended as if they were on a playground or at Chuck E Cheese. This restaurant isn't cheap and I shouldn't have my evening ruined by parents who can't control their children. When I said that to the host who I assume he was new because I've never seen him before. He told us we could eat somewhere else if the children bothered us. We eat here regularly but that may have been our last visit.

This was such a fun birthday experience! We had the habachi and celebrated a 5 year olds birthday. The food was all great- between the 8 of us, we had the scallops, chicken, filet mignon, steak, and shrimp. Besides the shrimp being a little overcooked, the mains were great with tons of flavor. The entertainment for the kids was also perfect. The staff were attentive and engaging. The place is also super clean, and that's with tossing food in patrons mouths if they so choose. I heard the restaurant side to the establishment is great. We had steamed dumplings and edamame, but no sushi rolls.Would definitely come back again!

We went for an early birthday celebration for our nephew. The fare was as we expected...quality teppan style Japanese food. Our chef/artist was entertaining and played along with our lively (&loud) group. Always love the fried rice & sauces. Together we devoured the shrimp, steaks, chicken, scallops and lobster. No complaints and a fun time.

The food is great, and the cooks give a great experience. To start we waited 25 minutes to even get greeted at the table or get our drink order put in. We usually go to celebrate our kids bdays.They nickel and dime you for everything!!! I specifically ordered a kids meal for my 9 year old son and they charged us $30 for the adult meal and refused to change the price. The waiter said it's because they made us the adult meal (which I obviously didn't realize this, my son ate 1/4 of it and not what I asked for.) If the waiter wasn't sure he should have clarified. I've gone before for lunch during the week during the lunch hours and they told me they were not doing lunch that day and I had to order dinner. So they pick and choose the days they want to offer lunch?I guess customer service doesn't exists these days and we will not be returning.

Celebrating a birthday and our service was great. The chef will feed off your energy so if you are open for fun they will be more engaging as well. Bring your extroverted self and have a great time! Food was a great value for price and my son LOVED the yum yum sauce!
