Kona Jacks Fish Market & Sushi Bar

After being closed for 6 month due to a flood I was excited when they reopened. This place was in dire need of an update - everything inside was old and tired - a flash back to the 80's? . When I walked in I was expecting to see a beautifully redone restaurant, what I saw was just a new floor. The tables and chairs were not new but they did replace the cushions. From what I understand they had 8 inches of water. What is new are the prices. It appears to be approximately a 20% increase on everything. In addition, they removed menu items that were vegetarian.

This is a top 3 favorite spot for us. We come back over and over and over again. In our early 20s, we are always the youngest people dining by at least 20-30 years - which we think is telling of the quality of food and service.I've never ordered the same thing twice, but my husband always orders the blue roll and the yummy roll. The menu definitely has something for everyone.There are live aquariums of fish all around. It feels like being teleported to Florida. Good vibes in Indiana winter time.We'll continue to come back here for reliable, delicious sushi and fish.

Had a great experience at Kona Jacks for our Valentine's night dinner ! Order a platter of sushi and we indulged in every bit of it ! We ordered the Hot and spicy tuna roll , crazy tuna roll and Mt.Fuji roll along with a couple of tuna nigiris. Crazy tuna roll was spicy tuna with asparagus , cream cheese , avocados . It was good but not our favorite . We liked the hot and spicy tuna roll better which was served with flavorful tuna sauce. Our favorite was the Mt.Fuji roll !! The tempura fried soft shell crab was outstanding . We saved most of the roll for the last . Also had bowl of miso soup which was again was tasty and went perfectly well with our choice of sushi .The place has so many options to choose from that there's something for everyone even if you are not a fan of sushi . Though the sushi plates are epic .It was a busy night but we had a reservation so the wait time was barely 5 minutes and the service was quick and easy. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for seafood and or some sushi .

I've been to this restaurant on two occasions, once for a date & once for a family dinner, and I can proudly say: it is wonderful. The restaurant is clean, has a vintage beach vibe (salt water tanks included), and the friendly staff to go along with it. You're even sometimes met with the owners at the hostess table or at your table to ask how your meal has been. I will RAVE about their fresh fried calamari (apologies the photo was taken after my kiddos devoured most of it haha) and their freshly made sushi that is made to order. The Rainbow roll, Hoosier Roll, and Tiger Roll are delicious as well! Another great thing about this restaurant: if there is something you don't like or can't eat in their pre-designed sushi rolls, they will switch ingredients or omit them at your request! I absolutely would recommend stopping in to see Kona Jacks for a date night or for a larger group (with reservations). So good!

Mexican Roll 8.4/10 (right)(Tempura shrimp, tuna, avocado, green onions, cilantro, fresh jalapenos, cream cheese, topped with beef tataki, pickled jalapenos, chipotle sauce and tortilla strips)* this was actually a spicy roll. Lots of flavor and lots of spicy sauce. The first Mexican roll that actually tested like Mexican food. Dynamite Roll 8.9/10 (left)(Spicy tuna, green onion, avocado and cilantro topped with spicy shrimp tempura)* this was scrumptious, both of our favorites. The spicy shrimp tempura on top was fabulous. Weird all our sushi had rice paper and not seaweed. Hoosier Roll 7.4/10 (left)(Spicy shrimp tempura roll, avocado, wrapped with beef tataki and eel sauce)* least favorite but still good. The beef very rawBlue Roll 8.2/10 (right)(Shrimp tempura, cream cheese and avocado. Topped with crab meat, tempura crunchies, sesame seeds and Kona sauce) * was extremely skimpy on the crab meat. It wasn't a crab salad but like crab flakes? Had potential

WOW WOW WOW!!! This is one of my favorite seafood places in Indy. They have the best calamari and their chipotle aioli is to die for. Their sushi is also amazing and so fresh, as you can watch the chefs make your sushi behind the counter. The staff is so friendly and answers any questions you may have.

Went for dinner after reopening in January 2025. Extremely noisy.Food was good as always, service a bit rushed. We'll go back but maybe to Daddy Jack's.

Nothing bad, I met others there for lunch, had a salad, but the place was Just average.

Grilled Chicken Salad was horrible. Chicken pieces were thin but barely grilled and tasted like unseasoned paste. I sent it back and asked it be taken off my bill. My son ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and had Key lime pie for dessert. By the time we got home he had explosive diarrhea and was nauseated. I called the manager and he was less than empathetic. Will report incident to the Health Department.
