Good luck finding this park. Even Google Maps was off by five blocks! (The Indy Parks map is only off a block.) The problem is that it is located on Roosevelt Avenue which winds around dodging I-70 and Mass Avenue on the near east side. Having nearly given up on finding it, I stumbled across the location on Roosevelt about a block west of where it passes under I-70. The park is on the northwest corner of Roosevelt and Lawrence Street with a small drive that you can pull onto via Lawrence. The park itself has two sections. The first is the playground which has a few pieces and is shaded with mature trees. To the north is a raised area where a basketball court is available, but not in prime condition. There is no shelter on site but there are many benches for the size of the park.It seems that the neighbors like having the park handy, but it isn't worth a special trip just to find it.Review #697

I really wish this park was better maintained. I come here with my two year old every time I stop by Under the Sun. There's often broken glass and a numerous amount of trash on the ground. I feel that even though it's a state park, it gets forgotten about because it's in a not-so-good-area. My son and I are the only ones at the park every time we go and I won't complain about that, but it is a bit weird. I feel like if they cleaned up and spruced up the place a bit, maybe more families would come. It has everything your little one need in terms of slides, climbing apparatuses, and swing sets. Just make sure your child wears dark colors...things are a bit dirty!!We will continue to come, but I just hope we can fix these forgotten parks so all kids have great parks to play in!
