Vegetable Spring Rolls. Two orders.
Menu
Definitely not vegan like requested.
Possible GrubHub error, but disgusting nonetheless. HALF an order of Szechuan tofu with pork fried rice? in the same container.

Jing Jing Garden has been on my list of places to try for a long time. There are tables, but this is definitely a classic Chinese take out place. The food itself was middle of the road American Chinese fare. Not particularly cheap, nothing remarkable in terms of flavor, but adequate if you have to have Chinese and don't want to drive to Logansport or Kokomo.

It's meals like these that have me regretting my move to Peru...I used delivery.com on a Friday night to place and receive my order via delivery since Jing Jing Garden, surprisingly, does not deliver. Maybe it's because I'm a highfalutin city slicker in the eyes of some, but I have never before encountered a Chinese restaurant that did not deliver. I ordered Szechuan Bean Curd (tofu), which is normally my go-to, Vegetable Fried Rice, and two orders of Vegetable Spring Rolls. The tofu came with a pint of steamed white rice, and I found the chopsticks and soy sauce I requested in the bottom of the outer plastic bag. I appreciate that I got more soy sauce than the six packs I entered on my order form. I'm not sure if the delivery.com prices are inflated compared to the actual restaurant, but in any case, the prices are alarmingly high, especially for what I received. I paid far less in Indy and Saint Louis for far, far better food. The large pieces of broccoli in the Veggie Fried Rice were a nice variation, but the "quart" I received at nearly $8 seemed much smaller than my favorite joint in Speedway. It was extremely bland and disappointing. The Spring Rolls, albeit not greasy, were dry and had a strange flavor with little on the inside. At nearly $5 for four small rolls, they were not worth adding to my order. While the Szechuan Bean Curd was the best of what I ordered, was colorful, and appeared to be appetizing, it really lacked any sort of spice or flavor. It actually had a strange taste unlike what I've received every other time I've ordered this dish elsewhere. I was happy to find some nice sized mushrooms hanging out in the bottom and liked the abundance of broccoli, but the carrots were undercooked. The foil container with a flimsy plastic lid, was leaking all over the bag before I even got it in the door. I'm accustomed to plastic containers that stay sealed much better. The price was close to $10, and absolutely too high. I nearly tried the Hot and Sour soup, but now I'm glad I didn't buy anything more. I'm guessing it would be subpar and possibly leaking from a foil container as well. As I said, I was happy to see all the soy sauce packets, but there isn't enough soy sauce in the world to make these dishes taste any better. I have food in my belly after a long and trying day, but this was not the treat I was hoping for. Everything was edible at best. I'm frustrated and dissatisfied at how little I enjoyed this meal. I really wanted to like it since there are so few food options in Peru, but I just can't. Is disheartening how little variety there is here in town, and I'm in disbelief that this restaurant is held in high regard by people I know. It looks like I'll just be learning to make more of my favorite dishes myself. I really do prefer to cook my own meals, but I'm sad there is nothing worth ordering when I'm not up to the task. I can't say I'll be having Jing Jing ever again, even if the prices were to match the portions and flavor. I won't say it was the worst Chinese I've ever had, but it's just not good. Add that to the astronomical cost and extra fees imposed my delivery.com, it was a sad experience all around.

I liked it. Great value for the money. I got a lot more food than I expected. Fried rice and Lo Mein were very good. The sweet and sour pork was not the best but, I will definitely come back again! Thank you for the great service!

A friend of ours was ordering threw their menu over the phone, most the items we asked for was "no longer on the menu" that "we had an old menu" so we roll with it and when we arrive to the little hole in the wall at an old plaza ( no offense I've had the best food before in the same type of scenery) and we pay a steep price for what was sub par cooking IMHO.Walking in you can smell they they don't use any seasonings, most places you can smell the food from outside the shop. Before we left I asked for some hot sauce that's like a chili paste the youngest boy looked at me like I was stupid and pointed to a ketchup packet thing and I further elaborated to the woman that was cooking what I wanted and they pointed to the same BS they even shouted a bit. That was infuriating to have some brat look at me like I was stupid they must be racists because I have basic culinary skills and I grew up in a southeast asian environment I'm far from stupid. The stuff they pointed to labeled "hot sauce" was more like sweet and sour sauce, tch.. far from hot sauce smdh these people have no shame serving sub-par food,I can't believe its been there for apparently "years" according to the locals that don't know any better and they're taking advantage of that fact. When we arrive at home and take everything out, on top was the same old over encumbered menu that they said was an "old menu" shameful.. they must really think ol white face is stupid, I would put their cooking to shame trust and believe. The flavor was lackluster for all the items we received I feel bad for the people that still go there, they are over paying for cooking that lacked personality, flavor or remotely scrummy.I can tell they cut corners in almost every dish we had; the sesame chicken tasted like corn starch, the lo mein tasted plain, artificial crab cakes, the egg rolls consisted of 2 ingredients ginger and cabbage! no mung bean noodle no chicken, beef, pork, crab or shrimp. tisk tiskNo fresh ingredients in the shrimp fried rice, you can literally taste that everything was once frozen. The Beef (the beef was asada unseasoned) and broccoli was basically stock and starch ..tskA massage to the owner or family that run this dump stop serving people, their hard earned money ain't worth the trash you serve and that's the food and your attitude.

I ordered 2 dishes. Kung Pao chicken and Hot & Spicy beef. 23.00 for both. I have eaten Kung Pao chicken in probably 40 states in the US. I am not sure Jings knows what it is. Hot & Spicy beef should be called stringy beef and broccoli. The presentation was terrible. they say you eat with your eyes. Well, I was not impressed to say the least. Just because you're the only option in Peru for Chinese food does not give you a license to pass out a substandard low-quality food. Obviously, no pride in your unique craft. As the only option in Peru, next time I will eat out of town.

Totally the grossest place that you could ever eat. The facility is filthy and the counter staff is obnoxious and rude. Quite frankly, I would have to be starving to death, to ever eat here again.Dismal quality in their ingredients.
